Being in AB and not Hawaii, let alone with a blizzard or a test = don't want to hear about the weather there!

Heck, being here without either and I don't want to hear about the weather there.

Ya...

4 stations...2 physical exam, 2 communication. 7min to complete the exam, 3min of feed back then buzzer goes and you switch to the next station.

Walk up to a door, read the instructions and go in the room. Communication stations can be anything. Last year was a guy who was refusing to get an angioplasty post MI and I had to go in and try to convince him to get it done. We have had alcohol, smoking, diabetes management...have no idea what they are going to throw out there for us.

Physical exam stations...between thyroid, CV, pulmonary and abdominal exams. They have uped the anti this year. We are given a vignette with a patient presentation so we have to pick our top differential diagnosis and then do the proper exam with special tests if they exist. Also have no idea: my friend and I practiced for: COPD, liver failure, appendicitis, MI, aortic stenosis, heart failure, cholecystitis, hypo/hyperthyroid, pneumothorax...etc...etc...The difficult part about it is that you have to know what physical signs you are looking for vs. just having to do a normal exam. So we will see how it goes...

Have to go get dressed up professional style...haha..

We do have a land line.

How is it that no one commented on Melindy practicing physical exams on someone?

We didn't want Neal to be more jealous. After the poem incident he must be feeling pretty vulnerable!

He should probably go to Maui so she can make it up to him. Maybe he can help put sunscreen on her back, too.

I haven't met my physical exam subject yet...it might not be a man.

It was just a poem! A pretty epic poem and everyone is pretty jealous about it. Haha.

Now I have to head off to school. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm on a teleconference and my handsfree isn't working so I actually have to hold the receiver to my ear for the next hour.

I don't know. Both? We are just classmates.

He used to swim for the UofC down in Calgary--national level 400IM/1500m free...we know the same circles of people through swimming. He almost did the same half as me, but injured his knee training in the summer. Other than swimming and the fact that we will both be MD, M.D and have made fun of one another on a few occasions for it we don't really know one another. ? He's a really nice guy, everyone likes him...pretty quiet in general though compared to the gang he hangs out with. I will admit the poem was surprising..haha...so random--but just a poem about triathlon...

It's almost time for me to report to my OSCE. Few more minutes...I just want it to be overrrr...

<POOF> It's over

Hasn't started yet...

But I did a magic <POOF>. It was MAGIC.

Had to drive an hour to go and get hubby.  We had the car towed to a place out there, but tomorrow it will be towed to a place closer to home where the work will actually be done.  Luckily since our son doesn't have a job right now, hubby can use that car until his is fixed.

We had a nice lunch out, but guess there won't be many of those in the near future, since we have a $1000 deductable on the car.  Ouch.

But as stated earlier, hubby is okay and that is what is important.

OSCE done. I passed. I got told I play the OSCE game really well. There are certain points we need to hit regardless of the situation and I got those points. Haha.

Also...one of the standardized patients...so good looking...haha. I had to do resp exam on him...2 other girls had him before me and after we were discussing him. I didn't make him take off the gown in the front...but apparently he was pretty spectacular...haha. I'm glad I didn't...they said it was difficult to concentrate with him. I just looked at his back and said I would normally do his front as well but due to time I wouldn't. Haha.

We all knew you would pass.  Great job!
Next time use Neal to practice on. 

I doubt Neal wants me to poke and prod him to practice for physical exam.
