Today is a tough day for me.  I can't seem to drop weight and I'm supposed to have my BF tested but I really can't handle having a trainer at the gym tell me that my body fat is high and then giving me the hard sell for personal training / nutrition sessions to "help" me with the issue.  I've heard way too many times from gym trainers "with some changes to your diet and little exercise we can fix this problem"  -- if I have to hear it today I think I may snap.

If they do, challenge them to a 4 hr trainer ride and watch them crySeriously, don't sweat it, you're in better shape than easily 95% of the country.

I so hear you on the weight loss. But you are eating well and in incredible shape as an athlete. It does not make it feel any better when you do not see the number on the scale drop. If you find any good answers let me know.

Snapping on trainers is cathartic IMO.  Almost got asked to leave my gym about a week ago for doing it.

I need to get my bf% done too.  Haven't had it done since I was 19%.  That was about 35-40 lbs ago.  Half the trainers at my gym are way bigger than me.  My personal opinion is that while a trainer's physical appearance may not be an accurate reflection of their knowledge base it is a big part of their resume.  Eh, that's a topic for another day.

there are good trainers and bad trainers.  however, most are just trying to make a living, which means selling PT.

Anyone have experience with Jamis bikes?  I may have a line on a $2500 bike come the end of the season for around $1700.  Fit is good so that's not an issue.  I just don't know the brand well.

Its just tough.

When I went to the doctor's recently for my check up I told the CNA that I was concerned about my weight and she suggested I "try exercising" -- that was a fun conversation.

Without massage I wouldn't be able to hit the other nubmers.  So essential.

When i was in college, i played defensive tackle I was 240 pounds, and was small, even for D3, the other starting DT on our team was 260.  Most O-line men were 260-275.  my first "grown up doctor" (a friend of a friend of my parents) told me i really should lose weight, the guy obviously wouldnt know a DT from a DP.  Last time I ever went to a doctor who was not an athlete.  the reality is that most doctors dont have a clue (I say that as a person who has many friends who are doctors) about health.   they understand how a body works and can do amazing things, but when it comes to those of us outside the mainstream - i.e. not eat crap, drinking 2 doz cokes a day and working out like maniacs their - models break down and they dont know what to do.

I thought you guys would enjoy my workout story for tonight
-----------------
OMG, 15 minutes into the run felt like I was running with a broken rib all of a sudden.  I either strained a muscle or pinched one in my back just below the shoulder blade.  OUCH!!!!  Tried to stretch it at first and hurt worse, then it eventually worked out.  Still pretty darn sore, but what does a triathlete do . . . FINISH THE RUN, OF COURSE!!!

AND, had to use the bathroom a few times (all that junk food the last few days).  When I got off to stretch my back muscle the dog tried to jump on the treadmill while it was moving (treadmill is on the fritz and all the buttons are all of a sudden not working).  So I had to lock the dogs out while I let the treadmill run while I used the facilities.

What a weird run.  I always let the dog walk on the treadmill while I stretch afterward, but I make sure it is slow as she frequently slides off the back in her exhuberance and howling having so much fun.

I follow a few blogs, and today, I enjoyed reading this one on excuses, from a triathlon coach, and a mother of a 6 month old.

On another note, another snowstorm coming our way.  Can't we be done with this already?????

I got the same thing but after I recounted my training with my Doc he was amazed. You are doing so much more than I am and eating better.
I have decided I will do what I can do without being extreme and just live with it. I hit 55 this yeat and now see myself as middle age. 55 x 2=110. I think its plausible

Swim - 13,600
Bike -   270 miles (14 h 18 m)
Run - 58.16 miles (9 h 41 m)
Strength - 2 h 35 m

Not bad on the bike considering I didn't even get it until mid-Jan.  Really unhappy with my run total.  The last 2 months have been 140-150.  This month was supposed to be near 150-160.  Don't know if I'll hit that next month with my injury still bothering me.

I need some lateral thinking assistance! One of my strength exercises from the maintenance plan im on is a leg press, however the gym at my work doesnt have a leg press, so any ideas on how i could do this? A friend suggested squats but it really doesnt give you the same level of resistence.
