I had a really good workout to celebrate which considering how bad I felt last night I'm was pleasantly surprised. 1:10 on the bike with 30 minute Z1 warm-up followed by 40 minutes of intervals and then a 5 mile run. I pumped myself full of Airborne and Oscillococcinum (homeopathic remedy) last night and my wife said I slept 3 times as loud as I normally do. Hopefully I don't have the afternoon crash and feel bad again which is apt to happen. Happy Birthday! |

Here's one with a cycling buddy on a trip a couple years ago. I'm in the blue sweater... And here's the action photo... Were you riding up Alpe d'Huez? How was it? Nice shot....was the beer drinking before the ride? Perhaps that is why you were smiling on that climb? I think the beers in the first picture were the night before the second picture. The smile in the second picture was anticipating more beers at the top of the hill! Leffe - yum! |

The smile in the second picture was anticipating more beers at the top of the hill! Leffe - yum! Very cool - that's a dream of mine, to ride up Alpe d'Huez. And drink beer after of course! First time I had Leffe was when I was in Brussels with my Mom. That pretty much started my love of good beer. |

Just got to work and left them in the microwave at home. Bummed. How are the whole30 peeps doing? I can relate Michele. I'm flying out today and didn't plan ahead. I have nothing for lunch, I tossed 5 Lara bars, an apple, an avocado, raw cashews, almonds, & almond butter in my suitcase. I hope it gets me through... Day 10 and I'm still going strong. Have not "folded" yet. I'm determined to make it the 30 days. |

I'm still picking events to do this year, and am curious whether you'd recommend it. Also, it looks like you're near me in the DC area. Once the weather gets a little better, we should go ride some weekend... |

Once the weather gets a little better, we should go ride some weekend... Thanks! That was in Charlottesville Jefferson Sprint and it was crazy HOT that day! I finished and it was 97 already! It was a fun small race right near the campus of UVA. Setup events does some nice ones around here as well. I did Culpeper Oly last year which is pretty hilly but a nice challenge. I am doing Jamestown Oly this year as well. There are a lot of Sprint races in the area put on by different groups. Yea once the weather gets better we should get a ride in! |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED This has been quite the day. First, my blood work shows that I most definitely have Celiac disease. I have to put gluten back in my diet for the endoscopy to show that it causes inflammation in my gut, so I'm out of the Whole30 challenge because of this. The crappy thing is that I feel so much better eating this way, and now I have to ingest something that makes me very ill for the next 2 weeks. Visited the doctor today for this cough. Turns out it's bronchitis or pneumonia. They sent me down for a chest X-ray, and I will those results back later today or tomorrow. No training until Monday I know, I know, but I love to train. Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Happy Birthday Scott Jen, at least you have answers, and know how to resolve it. Think positive. Go Yanks (who may be in last place this year) Karen, still holding strong with Whole30. Nice work. I made it 7 days. I've still avoided grains, dairy and legumes, but that damn sugar dragon is killing me. Had PT today for the nerve. Swelling is not the concern. He actually is ok with light biking. More of the concern is why I have yet to get feeling and warmth back in my foot. This has been a problem since car accident. Foot is always cold when sitting. he now relates it to the bulging disc in L5-S1 (hope I said that correctly) I'll continue to follow my marching orders and go from there. I have a follow up with the Ortho in 2 weeks

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Codeine is a beautiful drug. I coughed until 11 and then got 7 drug induced hours of sleep. It's the first night in a week that I caught a solid block. Yay! I plan to do the same tonight It's supposed to be in the 60s here on Saturday. I'm going to have to fight the urge to take my bike out for a joy ride. The plan is to open the windows and let the fresh air suck out the plague from my house. Any northerners heading outside to celebrate this warm January weekend? |
