I am at the pool right now doing my Friday ,morning deck coach duty. Whats everyone got on tap this weekend/ Deck coach? Do you work at the pool you go to? Very cool! I was finally able to swim yesterday, it was really nice to be back after almost two months off. I just took it easy for about 30 minutes just trying to get my breathing, stroke and kick back together. Leg feels good but the back is still a little stiff, I am hoping it will loosen up. Going to try and hit the track Sunday for a light 30 minute run. Stopped by the bike shop and got this stuff called "White Lightning" for my chain. It has wax in it and is supposed to keep the chain clean and really smooth. Going to clean the bike up pretty good today before putting it on the trainer for the winter, ugh! Like Linda said - What's everyone up to this weekend? Edited by JREDFLY 2013-11-16 6:55 AM |

Official BT Coach 18500 Indianapolis, Indiana | Subject: RE: weekend Hi everyone, Sorry I have been AWOL. We had a family emergency that has consumed my wife and I for the past several days. On Thursday Nov. 7 our son, his wife, and their two daughters were on the way home from dinner and were struck by a drunk driver. Our son, daughter-in-law, and youngest grandchild were all injured. Our oldest grand-daughter was uninjured. The drunk was killed in the accident so unfortunately, I have nobody to direct my anger at. His blood alcohol was at 0.36%. Over four times the legal limit in California. I am surprise the a-hole was conscious, let alone driving. For the first few days, we were not sure our son was going to be coming home. After three surgeries, his prognosis is now for a full recovery; albeit after what will likely be a lengthy hospital stay. Our daughter in law broke her femur and three ribs. She also has undergone a surgery to set the femur. Our youngest granddaughter sustained minor injuries only and is currently at Grandma and Grandpa's house along with her sister until Mom and Dad are in a better place. James, I worked out a little bit, good way to clear the mind. I will get workout info and weight info from last week some time today. Love your kids everyone, Cherish every moment you have with them, because in an instant, they can be gone. |

Regular 186 | Subject: MADD SO SORRY to hear about the tragedy of your son Scott. I was just thinking the other day how I had not heard much from MADD lately. Been one of my fav charities. I think one of my greatest worries is drunk driving. I actually am a licensed chemical dependency counselor and I could pull up some stories let me tell you. I am kinna disillusioned with the field and have not worked directly with chemically dependent people for a few years... I think DUI offenders get off too easy. Anyway I hope your family mends quickly. I got nine w/o points this week and I think I prolly gained a pound. I am gaining on you Steve ! |

New user 431 Hingham, MA | Subject: Weekly Check In Down 2 pounds for 25 pts and 30 minutes at the pool on Friday and 30 minutes at the track Sunday for 2 workout points. Feels good to be on the road back. I was amazed at how my heart rate went up. 2 months ago my heart rate on a slow jog was 125 yesterday it was 157. It is crazy how the human body works, I am sure the stamina will come back in due time. I just have to keep telling myself patience is a virtue. |

This particular drunk didn't get off so easy as he got dead. But I agree, drunk drivers in general get off too easy. Attorneys have made untold fortunes defending them for what is a completely avoidable crime. I don't understand it. Not even a little bit. And that was before recent events. Now, don't even get me started about drunk drivers - but for the grace of God, a whole family could have been wiped out because some drunk idiot got behind the wheel. Throw them all in jail and lose the key! |

Did master class today for a full 60 minutes. Finished doing a relay race which was a lot of fun. Going to start putting in some road-work before the snow comes. What is the lowest temperature that you will bring your bike out? |

Regular 1126 East Wenatchee, Washington | Subject: RE: shoes That is a great attitude! What is the lowest temperature that you will bring your bike out? Depends on conditions. If it's dry and the roads are not icy, I'll ride mid-20's. But it's a lot more toasty to just get on the trainer indoors. Mostly I ride up the hill at my house. Since I'm going up a steep hill the speed is low so the chill from wind is not bad...except for the 10-15 minutes screaming back down. Today--Day One--75 minutes on indoor trainer. |
