barqhead - 2007-12-26 11:05 AM I am in and out today. It looks like a toy bomb went off in my house. My hubby was very angry yesterday. I can always tell when the house has crossed the line from messy lived-in to utter pigsty by his attitude. (Although I think he needs to chill since it was CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!)

I can deal with the mess since we can clean it up due to the holidays. I'm just glad that everyone has left and there is silence once again in my home.

Silence. Nice. Still one more week of no school. The only peace I get is my ipod turned up loud enough so that when I look at the kids, I can see their mouths moving and hear only my music.

I agree, he needs to chill, or else he can start cleaning. My hubby never notices if the house is dirty or clean. SIGH! So I usually need to leave him a list or just deal with it myself.

today he had to go to Home Depot because on the evening/night of the 21st, someone ran into our mailbox. totally took it out. We even had a fake rock with solar panel to light up the house numbers and that was smashed to smithereens. We noticed the rock before we noticed the mailbox. Rather funny what you look for. So heis picking out a new post and box for us. No more fake rock though.

Yeah, we laughed. We live on a cul-de-sac and have always thought that we were safe from drive by bashings. We never thought about run-ins. We have lived in the house 19 years and have replaced the box 3 times. The other times were due to termites, this is the first one due to a car. LOL

I had my best Christmas in YEARS. Aside from missing my children, that is, but no more X causing holiday-induced misery. It was GREAT!

Here's PICTURES

Woke up, called my children, made sure that they got their stuff, and slept a LOT. Went to Land Park in the afternoon and gathered kindling twigs for the fireplace and fed the ducks/geese, then relaxed in front of the fireplace. Cool

Great pictures. Glad that Christmas ended up being good for you. It must be the Blonde!

Hey Nibbins!  Kendra, that reminds me of when we lived in Michigan.  I don't know WHAT it was, but the mailboxes in my neighborhood seemed to get hit every weekend after school let out.  So here was my solution.  I put the new mailbox on hinges and attached the hinge to the mailbox support.  I put the hinge on the farside of the box.  Whenever they came by to hit mailboxes, our mailbox would just flip over on the hinge.  In the morning, I would just flip the mailbox back over onto the support.  Worked like a charm (principle of ying and yang...no resistance...just continued flow ).  I think the mailbox has still never had to be replaced .

Good luck.

Just got back from the pool.  My dad's in town and we went to the pool together.  He did 1/2 mile continuous.  I ended up doing 2100.  Had 2800 planned, but I think dad got tired of waiting.  He was doing stretches at the end of the pool .

Yeah, if it was just the mailbox I would do that. Unfortunately our mailbox itself is fine, its the posts. Termites killed the first three posts, so we went with an aluminum one and it lasted 10 years until last week. Found out the neighbor had a small party with his large family and it must have been one of them backing & turning out into the cul-de-sac and just misjudging. Funny thing is we figure whoever it was knew, for you could see that they tried to straighten out the post and put the mailbox back on top. Oh, well, it is not worth going to the neighbors about. We would rather not cause problems with neighbors. Have had a bad neighbor experience in the past and don't want to ever go there again. So we try to be the neightbors who don't cause problems.

Hmmm.

Merry Day Post X-mas nibs....

Drive-by posting to talk about beer.

Normally I don't drink beer - but tonight we went out to my favorite ale house and I had three lovely beers - Troeg Mad Elf (chocolate, cherry, honey), Rogue Hazelnut (chocolate hazelnut) and Legend Chocolate Porter (chocolate, chocolate, chocolate)...YUM! (Yes, Virginia, there is a theme to my beer drinking. )

Yumster!

And I had dessert - which is so bad for me, but felt so great. Chocolate brownie mudslide.

MMMMMMMMMM.

No, I don't think I should step on the scale for the next week, but mmmmmm. A little bit of naughtiness is so worth it.
