The other athletes had not finished yet.  

There were race officials and spectators that were there with him beforehand, but couldn't help him.

These guys, though, stopped to talk with him and decided they would make it to the finish together.

Your Dad and his Race Angels are true IronMen!  So glad I was there to see them take that final turn into the chute.  That last couple of hours kept me fighting back the tears.  I feel so lucky to have been there as a volunteer.  Prayers for quick healing!  Thank you for sharing his story.
