Hello All....haven't been too good about inspiring and stuff...but have managed to get quite a few things done, one of which was have my homeschooled children evaluated.  It went very well...they are "above grade level" so I feel validated and relieved about this year.  After the race, it's a fun summer of short sprints and maybe some relays before gearing back up for Miamiman HIM in november.

How is everyone????  I miss our banter - guess EVERYONE is busy!!

Well, gang, I think I'm screwed.  I've thrown so much batting practice in prep for my team's high school championships that I seem to have done some serious damage to some muscle or connective tissue under my right shoulder blade. Nice burning sensation and very limited range of movement.  Can't swim.  Nice.  Back to the doc, I guess.

I hope everyone has a great tri season this summer.  I'll get back to this someday, after I figure out what the damage is, but it now looks like Bali will just be a vacation, not a tri.  I guess it could be worse.

 Signed,

Hardluck Shleprock

Bummer!

(But at least you get to go to Bali for a vacation!  That would be so amazing!)

OOH, BOb, I'm sorry!! But I bet you have a nice swing!

Sorry I've been AWOL, the end of the school year is making me nuts. The only consistent thing is training and as the miles increase now that I'm 24 weeks from IMFL.

The upside is that I've been eating darn near everything not bolted down, and I haven't gained weight. Yet.

Hey, enjoy the eating but be carefully with that.  I got away with it during IMFL training last year, but I didn't change the habits for 3-4 months afterwards and gained 15-18 lbs.  Then again, if I would have eaten better, I probably would have been 5-10 lbs lighter on race day.

Ditto on end of school year -- I'm probably not going to be able to do much more than log my training through the end of the month, except over this weekend.  I'm trying to get my classroom ready to go so that I have most of Friday to go train.  I've got the weekend off, but Tuesday I've got a 5 day professional development training that runs from 7:30 to 4:00 every day.   Including Saturday.  But since it's one of my two bosses running it, it's best to go and smile.

Don't slam the PD, I'm one of those people who presents to you for four days from 7-4!! I'm spending most of my time with my High Priority Schools (those that havent' made AYP, pretty much ever...) and they are a stressful group.

I'm concerned about the eating thing too. 15 pounds!! Heavens. But I'm just so damn hungry. I'm trying to stay within my needs for the day/week but find that even on my off day I want to eat a horse. So far no problems. After taking a month of last year after a HIM I gained a little, but what I really noticed was the body composition change, soft and squishy!! I'm getting back to the not so soft and squishy now and suppose I have 23 more weeks of muscle tone to look forward to!

I'm just cranky cuz my boss added an extra 1/2 hour on to each day this year.  IN THE MORNING!  Now, after a year of hauling butt to get the girls to their school so that I can try to get to mine in time to meet the students, I've got to get them there earlier so I can make this training.  AT 7:30 IN THE MORNING.  (Sorry, last year they started at 8.)  Also, due to my particular position, I more or less have to do this training.  4th year of it.  Maybe this year it will be more pertinent.  The training is more geared to the classroom teachers who are integrating arts into their curriculum; I'm the "arts integration specialist" who goes the other way -- integrating their curriculum into my art -- aka music.

I'll be less cranky once June starts.  Innocent

Hi everyone!

Big weekend plans? Races? I am RACING through my house trying to finalize the purge and organization before the nanny gets here next Friday. Nothing like a stranger coming to live in your house to make you feel embarrased about its condition! Besides cleaning, I am going to do an Ice Cream Half Mary-- planned and suggested by my boss over the winter, this will entail me running to the ice cream stand to which I am ADDICTED betweed Memorial Day and Labor Day to have my inaugural cone of the season. It's a tough run; I plan to get a big cone.   Also going to get in at least 1 big ride, hopefully one smaller ride, have a cookout  on Monday, get my hair colored (it's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long- 37 year olds should NOT have greys!) Hopefully my pregger friend will deliver while I am off from work over the next few days- she is no longer "pre-term" after Sunday and she is so ready to not be pregnant. So another fun thing there!

PD like that does suck, and I hate having to present/guide/whatever when I know there are some people for whom this is not relevant. Even worse is when the big guys tell you what PD you need. Its so much better when teachers ask for it...I try to make myself popular by ending 30 minutes early. And I bring candy.

Amy-that's one heck of a weekend. Mines lowkey, did the long ride yesterday, will do teh long run tomorrow AM, tehn I'm off to Cleveland where a girlfriend in public relations has a loge box with free beer and food to the Indians game on saturday. My plan is to drink too much and give the eye to Casey Blake who, if all goes well, will have a brawl with Ryan Garko, in which they inexplicably lose their shirts.

The hair color isn't until the 15th, I can't wait!!

QUESTIONS TO PONDER ON MEMORIAL DAY:

How does "let's have a few friends over for a cookout" turn into a party for 40??

How does a weather forecast go from 76 and sunny (ie everyone in my pool and on my deck) to cloudy, 71 and showers (40 people in my house, 16 of whom are children)? (don't answer that: it did snow here on Monday...)

How does a doctor tell my pregnant friend- you only have to get through Sunday and then you can go into labor safely, and then upon arrival, with contractions 3 minutes apart on Sunday night, stop her labor with more terbutaline? (you want to see someone who's mentall defeated, go take a gander at a 9 month pregnant mom who has 4 kids at home when they STOPPED her labor after telling her she was free and clear to deliver...)

SO...............after another night at the hospital and staring down the barrel of a BBQ for 40 (!), a workout does NOT look likely. But ya never know. Good thing I got in that long run.......guess I could possibly swim in my pool later....but I will find something that needs doing for every minute between now and  then, I am sure.... Truthfully, I am lucky to have so many friends that I should find myself in such a situation

Have a great day off and first weekend of summer, everyone!

WHY ON EARTH did they stop her labor?  THAT"S INSANE!  (You can tell her I said so -- oh, I feel her pain-- I had #2 induced because I had been in "false" labor for a month, 2 cm dilated almost as long and once I passed my due date, my dr. told me I could choose to induce -- they wanted to wait until Monday -- I insisted on the previous Friday!.   Hope that she delivers and SOON!

Well, no one lost a shirt, but that's not nearly as awful as the false hope labor. Not that I would know...

I was 6cm dilated for about 3 weeks with my daughter...bugger didn't want to come out.  She was due June 12th, arrived July 1st.  I was worried she'd just fall out while I was walking Sealed.  Hope your friend gets some relief in the form of a baby Amy!!

Yes- and she's living in a very small on campus apartment at the school where her husband teaches with their 4 kids.....I can't complain- as for the last 4 days, she's nesting ---on my house! This morning she wanted to iron that baby out-- and asked for me to leave my ironing on the front porch! She is cracking me up!

so, what's happening out there?  How is everyone going to end the month of May?

So far,

a) I am having a decent month on the bike - nothing spectacular, but going to end May with a nice long ride on Saturday - Not Kelly - IM prep volume, but good for me for what I have done so far this year.

b) On the run, I have hit my 2nd highest mileage and 3rd highest time with one scheduled run left - 2 if I include a transition run on Saturday.

c) I actually got in the pool !!!

My May was NOT GOOD as far as swim and bike. Due to sickness, weather and pool closure. Took my bike off trainer and put good tires back on it-apparently prematurely-- I am NOT hooking it back up to trainer. So 30 degrees some mornings and rain other mornings has made for not good biking! Good news is I did get some great runs in and was very good about strength training. I pick up my nanny in the am, so should be able to add in some evening workouts starting soon-- and the pool opens Sunday. And this lake has GOT to get warmer sometime, right?  Hope to get a ride in Saturday with some friends-- but rain is again forecast.

Texted my trainer that I am ready to rock and roll with swim, bike, run, lift (and kayak) as soon as the nanny arrives-- I am ready to roll and looking forward to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all!  Had a busy couple of weeks and then fell into a funk for a bit...funny - post IM, I don't really remember that happening, but post HIM, it did.  Probably a variety of circumstances involved.  IN any case, I am officially BACK in the game as of today.  Not racing this weekend, but have a sprint in a few weeks.

I did some speedwork at the track last night.  Ouch.  I remember why I like the LSD stuff!!!  Hope everyone is well and keeping up with training...I will be checking in on ya in the next couple of days!!!

no racing, 50 mile ride/5 mile run on saturday and a day off on sunday! woohoo!

I'm hoping for an OWS on sunday at a co-workers house. Gotta soak the wetsuit or it won't even go on my big behind.

Don't know how much of it today was I went out too fast, how much was I was just a bit off, and how much was conditions.  I had hoped to perform better in relation to some of the top age groupers. (BTer's MarkDills, Dick Dime, Kilo_Dave)
