LOL  Curt you are terrible!  (I hope that translates well)

Mike, when I think of your accident I wonder how I’ll do once I use the pedals and shoes on my new bike (if it ever gets here).  Everybody falls down at some point, I just hope to be lucky when I do.  Love the picture of your dog!

Practice a bunch before you head out is my recommendation. I haven't had much of an issue with this until yesterday.

Thanks for the dog picture commnet. I put it up today to give her some good mojo as she's having surgery tomorrow to remove a few lumps/growths she has on her head & one foot. She'll be a sore pup for a few days after that happens tomorrow.

Just don't throw her in that basement of yours

I hope everything goes well.

Mike – Glad you came out if it OK. I think the falling if you have clips is mandatory, even if you have been doing it for years. Nature of the game.  Hope the pup did well.

Curt- Sweet times

Dan- Glad to see no silly storm is gonna stop you!!!

Itzia- Have I told you how jealous I am of all of your stuff. Nice haul!

Josh- it will get to be spring up there soon.

My weekend was rather tame. Went into LBS to get fitted again now that I have changed my shoes/petals.  That went well. Was told my walkaway should be core work, and that I should not lock my arms with I ride. Between that and the swim clinic harping on core work I am beginning to feel a bit bad about planning and never actually executing the core plan this winter. So I will try to do a dedicated core day once a week now.  Came home after fitting and was too (don’t kill me) hot out to do a ride, so did 1h of core (ouch) then mowed my lawn.  Sunday did a nice 16m ride in the lovely 60 degree weather. Tried to focus on my cadence and keeping my arms bent. Think I succeeded. Also plan on joining the local tri club. They meet once a month and have talks/clinics. Maybe I can suck up some more info. Tomorrow night’s clinic involves track running. Guess I will swim in the AM.

Today I had great plan of waking up early and swimming, but bagged it. Going to get a massage tonight, hope it helps the tight/achy left outside back knee thing I got going on.

Masters swim class this AM. Felt terrible / floundering in the water. As the instructor was not there, I did a couple of drills (catch up and single arm). These got me to stretch out and it felt much better. Need more time in the water!!!!

Headed for a run this PM with my oldest again. This was three days in a row so I wasn't sure how I would feel. Turns out I felt great. Legs felt fine on the run and I think I could have gone quite a bit faster if I pushed. Took it nice and easy and held a steady 8:55 / mile pace. Very pleased. Even better, Amanda hung right in there with me until about the last half mile. She had to fade a bit at the end, but still finished at under a 9 minute pace! Tomorrow I'm taking her with me to a material handling trade show in down town Chicago. Like I said, she's a geek! Should be a great time.

Sorry about your pup Mike!  I hope everything goes well.  Ooops!  Still snowing? Undecided

Ail thanks, I took advantage of a trip to the US and some internet bargains. Everything would have been more expensive here.

Curt, excellent!  Who knows?  You might have more triathletes in the family soon.

I’m back to my exercise programme, it was rest today, but a productive day in other ways.  I also learned how to upload an album on BT.

Have a good evening everyone!  Laughing

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been a round lately. Only have had time to log workouts. I'll try to catch up on what I missed over the next couple days. Did some biking this weekend (what else is new?) and got a little reality check when I ran 2 miles Sunday after not running for a while. Those 2 little miles were brutal. Guess that what happens when I don't run. I was running 10-15 mile per week over the summer and more than that the month before the HM. I haven't even run that much in Feb & March combined (embarassing). I have been biking & doing the elliptical, but def not the same. Time to dust off the running shoes...

Hey, Jackie! Good to hear from you!  I've not run in over a month, so you're not the only one who's been out of the running game for a while. I *may* take a few steps next week, but we'll see. Your bike must be kicking butts by now! I put some new cleats on my shoes last night so I could keep riding, even if its just the trainer.

Great photos!! Looks nice & warm thats for sure!

Tried taping up my foot tonight, and its like a miracle. no pain, feels great, can move around w/o any issues. May do this in addition to the stretch, ice, Advil, and golf ball massages, and see what happens. Probably won't stay on in the pool, though

Missed the AM masters class, so stopped by the pool after work.  Decided to shoot for 1500 yards as the coach told me last week I should try and get in a mile each session.  Did 6 x 100s at around 2:35 each (about 45 seconds rest between),  100 pull, 100 alt arms, 100 catch up drill, and finished with 600 non stop ( 3:12, 3:16, 3:09, 2:56, 2:49, 2:45).  Very pleased with the work out.  The 100's to warm up pushed me, drills helped me relax, and the last 300 of the non-stop had me focusing / pushing.  Felt very strong during last 300 / was able to push hard and not get tired.  Feel like I may actually be getting some swim muscles developed!

Looking to get runs in the next couple of days.  Unfortunately the cold weather's back here as well / may be on the treadmill again.

You sure you have enough rooms for all of us Itzia?

Well… that depends on how many of you there are Curt!  Smile

I've been swamped with work this week.  I got only 4 hours sleep last night and it was a hard day today.  Ugh!  I should be swimming right now!  I'm slaking guys...  Undecided  I promise to train tomorrow pm.

I am crowning myself King Lazy Slacker for the week. The last 2 days I've become addicted to the snooze button on my clock, and haven't done jack for workouts (How one's perspective changes when you're getting fit? ). Was all set to get up and hit the pool for some big workout today, and I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. Not sick or hurt, but just dead tired. Had a few long days at work, millions of things to do at home, not getting to bed until 11 PM or so, and 4 AM comes quick.

That's hard core.  I have only done a couple of 2+ trainer rides, and it's as tough mentally as it is physically.  Good for you.

LOL.

Dog is OK.  She is hobbling about as best she can, but you can tell it hurts. Doc said the first 2 or 3 days would be hard, but would get much better there after.

2 hours on the trainer is impressive. I did an hour the other day, and only the lack of cell reception in the SoL dungeon prevented me from calling the Samaratans.

Standard 3.4 mile out and back run at 9:15 pace/held very steady (10:57, 4:50, 4:43, 10:54).  Lungs/cardio feeling great, legs getting there.  Next week I'll need to start stretching out the distance to challenge myself a bit more.

Tomorrow AM need to get up and make it to the masters class.  Hoping to get in 1500 - 1600 yards.

Just realized that I have about 5 weeks until a mini-sprint I'm thinking about and 9 weeks until a possible sprint.  Time flies when you are having fun!

I did a group class at my gym tonight. I wasn't really interested in the class, I was trying to play matchmaker for 2 single friends (guy I cycle with & girl I used to work with). Both belong to my gym. I introduced them a week ago when we just all happened to be at the gym at the same time. Girl texted me that my friend was hot. I texted her back that he was single. He seemed interested in meeting her again. So we all decided to take this class. I don't know if there was any chemistry between them in the end, but the class was good (weight lifting one). So even though I didn't s/b/r, I got a workout in. Looking to do the trainer tomorrow night and see if I can handle another 2 hour session.

Finally made it back to the pool today, and it was great. After struggling the past couple weeks, I decided it was a back to basics session which I needed. Using some of the drills posted by Terry Laughlin (TI swimming founder) on a thread in TT, I finally felt like I remembered how to swim again. The biggest issue was just trying to relax. My first couple of 100's were @ 1:35, and I felt great. did a bunch of drills for balance, rotation, and reach. I plan on doing these every time I get in the pool, in addition to any distance or interval training. I still need to figure out my kick however. Its spastic at best .

Jackie - what do you think of the Spinerval DVD? I'm thinking of getting a small TV & DVD player for the dungeon so any trainer rides can be a bit more interesting, and these DVDs could be great. Thanks!

So you're playing match maker Jackie?  Come clean on what the REAL text message said.  It's great that you're able to help friend in that manner.  Sure it makes it easier for them knowing that the person they're interested in is not a wacko -- you know the kind that would spend two hours riding a trainer.

Have a great weekend / hopefully you'll be able to get outside versus more time on the trainer.

Haha I will be getting outside this Sunday. The trainer is more due to time/child care than weather (I do the workouts at night after my kids have gone to sleep).

Mike- I like the DVD's. They tell me what gear to be in and where to keep my cadence (which they seem to want insanely high!) so it's very structured. I had been doing Jorge's program and going off of HR, and that had been good too. His sessions are generally 1 hour. Some of these DVDs can be 3-5 hors long. I'm not that crazy. Yet. So I just try and do as much as I can and then cool down for 5 mins. Also, I play the DVD on my lap top or kid's portable DVD player, so I don't have to set up a whole separate TV/DVD in the garage.

LOVE this part!!       Thanks for the feedback on the DVDs. I may take the leap and get some. Will help with mid week ride time, since getting out on the road is iffy.
