Fantastic mav. You are such a tremendous swimmer!! Dan/Leston - glad you chuckle at my goofy humour !! Dan - both you and your daughter did a great run!!

My brother and family stopped off with us last night en route to the family cottage in PEI. We had a lovely visit. Their kids are 5 and 3 so it was particularly nice that both our kids were off work and had a chance to be with their little cousins. Highlight of the night was a visit to the stable where my daughter rides so the wee ones could have a chance to ride too.

Today has been one of the laziest days ever for me but tomorrow I am going to run with the Sunday morning group at the Running Room store. I'll be thinking of Christine the BT-er and will say a prayer for her family.

Dan I completely missed your last post...sorry. What a great race with the family!!! You are really fast. I remember when you first started....when you read the old posts you can really see the improvement!. How much fun it must be to run with your daughter. I'm sure she enjoys seeing her Dad tri!!!! Congrats on a great race!!

FBP...I've had no probs with the geese from your neck of the woods..just thew damn swans!! They are out there today...KILLER SWANS LOL

I really think we should all consider doing a sprint tri together, Mid west is fine with me... what do ya'll think???

Mav, GREAT swim! Although I am much more comfortable in the water now than I was before, NO WAY I am swimming 1,500 m OWS yet - by next year I will be joining you! I am very, very impressed!

I am up for a "left.right.repeat sprint Tri"! You can count me in. We are going to Vegas the 2nd week of October. The 1st or 2nd weekend in November in a warmer state (maybe Alabama or Texas) would work for me!

FBP, you need some rest too! I love those "lazy" days - as long as they don't turn into lazy weekends!

FWIW: We went to see Batman "The Dark Knight" this evening and I did enjoy it - not as much as Batman Begins (which is probably my favorite Superhero Movie of all time - Ironman is second), but very much worth the price and time (2 1/2 hours long).

Did an 8k run this morning. With the humidity it proved a little tougher than usual but it felt good to go longer than 5k which is all that I've done of late. Said a prayer for Christine and family.

Dan - apparently you weren't the only one who went to see the new Batman flick since it had the largest ever opening weekend sales. I rarely go to movies so none of my scheckles were in that count.

Awfully quiet here on the LRR thread. Where is everyone?

Tropical storm Christobal is apparently on its way to our region. Lots of rain in the forecast. Thankfully the winds are not expected to be too severe this far inland.

Mav - since you aren't too far away, here's something for you to think about long range. The 30th anniversary Terry Fox Run will be held in September 2010 and in honour of this the Confederation Bridge between New Brunswick and PEI (13k- the world's longest span over ice-covered waters) will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be turned into a run/walk route. This will be only the second time in its history that the bridge has been open to pedestrians. The first time was for the 25th anniversary and I made sure that I was there to participate - me and 14,000 of my closest friends!!!!! Of course sTRIvers from further afield would also be welcome and our cottage (10 minutes from the Charlottetown airport and about 40 minutes from the bridge) would be the perfect place for us all to bunk.

Pete, you are correct, sure is quite here with our leader still on vacation! Hope he had a GREAT time!

Here is what is happening with me:

1. Joined the Masters swim class at LTF and had the 1st class last night. I am only the 2nd person to join this class so it was really a semi-private lesson at the cost of $3.75 (that's about $4 to you FBP!). Here was the instructor's assesment/advice:
A. She is forcing me to breath on left and right side!
B. She is forcing me to breath after every 5 strokes on short swims and 3 strokes on longer
swims.
C. I have a "hitch" in my stroke. Apparently when my arms enter the water over my head,
I hesitate and then pull. She indicate I loose a lot of momentum with the little hesitation
and need to keep going with my arms once they enter the water.
D. My right arm stroke is too shallow. My left arm goes deep, but my right arm I keep too
close to the surface. She thought it was due to my breathing as why I did this!

I had a great workout last night. I was very tired. It was difficult to breath on the left side and even more difficult to breath every 3 or 5 strokes, but I was more comfortable by the end of the hour than I was at the beginning - so I saw much progress for one night!

Question: Is it now OK for me to break the 10% rule? If I add these 2 classes a week, I will be doubling my swim time each week - a little above the 10% rule I would say!

Finally, I am planning on swimming/biking with a group of other BTers this Thurday evening. I look forward to meeting others from this sight!

I appreciate everyone's feedback.

FBP- That race sounds like a lot of fun and I would love to participate...Lets plan on it!

Dan, you will swim a mile in the open water soon. Glad you were able to hook up with fellow BTers. Its so much fun to meet others who have been bitten by the bug! I think this bug is starting to catch in my family. My son suggested we do a family tri where I swim, my hub bikes and my son runs. My daughter will keep time and cheer. I love the idea...my husband, not so much!!!! BUt I think we can convince him!

This weekend is a big race for me. Danskin sprint 2500 women. WOOO HOOOO. I am going to ride the course this morning. I feel like I have been doing alot of endurance work this summer and not so much sprint work . Well see how it turns out. Last year I finished in 1:34. I would like to finish in under 1:30 which I think is doable.

I did an OWS at Race Point beach which is at the tip of Cape Cod. It was awesome. The water was warm. About 68 degrees, which for the ocean is nice. It was crystal clear. The undertow was a little scary but once I realized I wouldn't be swept away I was OK. At least there were no "Killer swans"

I saw ?turtles or snakes sticking their heads out of the water in the lake the other day. My kids were teasing me saying if the killer swans dont get me the posinous snake, or snapping turtles will!!!!

JUANITA WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU>>> GET BACK HERE GIRL!!!!!!

I'll give a pre race jitters report on SAT. Going to the Sox Yakees game in Fenway Fri nite. Did I mention that I'm having a great summer????

Mav, you are having too much fun this summer, for sure. Your descriptions of clear ocean swims with fish etc really make me feel left out! What an awesome experience for you, though. Have a great time in your Sprint this weekend! You will do wonderful.

Dan, sounds like you are getting some great help in your swimming. If it were me, I wouldn't worry too much about the 10% rule, except for maybe cutting back on the other training (running, biking, weights, etc) for a couple of weeks so you don't start to drag. But the swimming doesn't pound your body as much as running and even biking, just the 'ol ticker.

I wish that I could join you for the Terry Fox run, FBP, sounds great - but probably not going to make it with the price of travel going the way it is. Probably a little far to get there by bike . Maybe next year I'll do the Race Across America and swing over your way at the end

Speaking of swimming with the fish, Mav, I'm looking forward to my doing some snorkeling in the Pacific when my wife and I go on our first cruise to celebrate our 20 year anniversary in November. Love wildlife and fish, so we are both WAY EXCITED.

3 days to the big event of the year for me. This is the one I've been training for - The Spudman Olympic Tri this Saturday. Should be great! The OWS is downhill (Snake River - don't worry for me Mav, I don't think it was named for its occupants) and I will appreciate the help the current will be giving. Leaving Friday afternoon, back later on Saturday.

Leston & Mav,

You are both getting my Turtle Power Thoughts this weekend! You are both well trained and disciplined and I know you will do GREAT! Mav, 1:30 is certainly doable for you!!!! I know you will make it! Leston, you have become a machine and with the current in your favor, you will ROCK!

Leston, one more question: on your 20th anniversary trip; is the wildlife you were writing about your wife??????

My wife and I are celebrating our 25th in Sept., but decided to wait until January to take a trip to celebrate! I will be looking for wildlife on that trip too!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Leston....have a safe trip and have a great race. Cant wait to read your race report!

I just finished cleaning my bike ...all black and silver shiny ...fast, fast for Sunday's race! Got a few signs to make tommorow for people I know that are racing. Tommorow nite its the Sox beat the Yankees!!!!!!

I think I am going to be doing the Ironman Plymouth relay August 30th. Kathy G from BT has recruited another BTer to do the run, I'll swim and she will bike. It is a 2.4 mile ocean swim. I think I may have lost my mind on this one!!! I will say its pretty exciting, especially where I was fitness wise 2 years ago. None the less it is a little scary! Kathy G just finished her first Ironman at Lake Placcid last weekend. She is amazing, if you get a chance visit her blog, she is an inspiration.

Dan you are becoming a swimming machine!!

Mav - great that you were able to sucker recruit someone to run the marathon leg of your IM team relay. Actually I saw the post on the Tri Talk thread and was hoping someone would respond.

As for me, I hope to get in a long-ish road ride this weekend plus the annual Highland Games are on here this weekend so I'll be down to listen to the pipe bands, watch some of the highland sports and take pride in my scottish (my father's side) heritage.

I'm here, I'M HERE! Sooooo sorry guys... I've really let real life keep me from the board lately. And OMG, you guys have been doing and sharing wonderful and entertaining (still grinning) events and thoughts! What a great bunch of people you all are! I'VE MISSED YOU.

So ok, me: It's been one of those "if-it's-not-one-thing-it's-another" months. My part time job turned out to be mostly full time for the first 3 weeks. My fault. I told my supervisor I would take all the extra hours she could give me. She took me seriously. There have been lots of co-workers taking time off.

I haven't worked outside the home in 15 years (and 15 years ago I only did substitute teaching so it really doesn't count), so 30-40 hour weeks were quite an adjustment. Until this week, most nights I'd come home eat, and go to bed. During the 1st 3 weeks, I was experiencing severe sinus headaches, too - book dust maybe? They seem to be better now, but last week I came down with a summer cold. Yuk. Have missed church 4 Sundays in a row. Very bad. Without a spiritual re-charge, I slap run out of juice. Ok, ok. Enough negative. I got back to part time schedule this past Monday. My cold is getting better, and I made myself go to the gym this afternoon after work. Did 30 min. / 2.5 miles on the elliptical and swam 1250 yards. It was just what I needed. I'm hoping my schedule for next week will let me get in 3 days at the gym and maybe I can bike on my days off. Note: I've a applied for a full-time professional 'librarian' position that came open last week. It pays almost as much as much as the starting pay for a teaching job, so I have my fingers crossed. I would like tips from all of you on how to handle a full time job and work out regularly at the same time. You all amaze me with your energy and enthusiasm. "I wanna be like you!"

Now let me talk about you guys! I don't have time now to coment on everything I've read, but WOW, you guys are an inspiration to me. Marianne? Dang, girl! *Pointing at Mav and saying "role model!" Wow again. I so want to do OWSs the way you are. I'll look around and see what 'kind' of swimming is available around here, but honestly, I'm terrified of fresh water (lakes AND rivers) because of the aligators, and I'm even more terrified of the gulf because of the sharks. Cowardly. That's me. Thank you, too, for all the messages calling me back. I heard you. *grin*

Peter, umm I mean Sticka! *grin* You and your geese! Too funny! I'm picturing a full out brawl between Canadian geese and killer swans! ROFL!

Dan? UNBELIEVABLE! You have become an incredible athlete! I'm like Mav.. looking back and looking at our first posts, it's absolutely WONDERFUL to see the progress you've made! That last 'family' run was just awesome. How great for you guys! I so look forward to reports on how your masters swimming is going!

Leston! An OLY! I can't wait to hear about it! Awesome guy! And Marianne again: I can't wait to read your race report this weekend as well! Am sending every positive racing vibe I have left to you two right now! Go Leston, GO! Go Mav, go!

Bryan! Hope you are having a super vacation!

A Mid-west sprint TRI would work for me if we could have it in Denver! My oldest daughter and her husband lives in Denver. They've been there for 2 years and we haven't been able to visit her yet. How awesome it would be to get together for a TRI and visit my daughter too! Just wow. I'm assuming this would be for next year? That's exactly the kind of goal I need to keep me motivated no matter how much I'm working. Oh! and I have one picked out too. The Crescent Moon Sprint Tri looks wonderful!
http://www.racingunderground.com/crescentmoontri/

I would love to try to make it to the the 30th anniversary Terry Fox Run. Hmm, 2010? To quote "Angels in the Outfield": "It could happen!"

Love you guys! Thank you for... well, thank you for being you. And thank you for not giving up on me!

OMG, the Phoenix Phlipper has risen from the ashes !! Great to have you back on line Juanita and what a great newsy post. Sorry to read about the illness but great that you're on the mend now. Like you Juanita I haven't been to church in weeks (I think it's been 7 weeks now). My choir takes the summer off but we're still supposed to go to mass. Tomorrow I'm going and will be playing/singing, together with whoever else happens to be there.

Finally got out for a road ride today - the first in 10 days or so. I went 20k and it felt OK considering how long its been since I was in the saddle. Tomorrow the plan is to get out and run at least 5k.

Picked up a new pair of running shoes today. I LOVE getting new "kicks" !!!! My wife Jill works part-time at a running specialty store so we get a wonderful discount (amywhere between 20 and 40%) - we joke that she makes more through the discount than through the wages so you might say she is simply feeding our habit.

Saw the last inning of the Yankees-Sox game on TV this afternoon Also saw some of thr IronGirl triathlon from Las Vegas on NBC. Mav - made me think of you and your race tomorrow - lots of positive vibes coming your way from the North.

Last week of work for me and then its off to the cottage on Prince Edward Island for two glorious weeks.

Can't wait to read a race report tomorrow !!!

Juanita: WELCOME back lady! We sure missed you. Thanks for all the kind words and taking the time to read our posts! You too have been a GREAT inspiration to me (along with everyone else here!). The only thing I can suggest to you on balancing work/life/family/church/workout etc. is to remember what is important to you and MAKE TIME FOR THE IMPORTANT things every day or at least every week. If you can't make church, say some extra prayers - make sure God knows how important He is to you and in your life! Make sure to talk with your all your family - regularly, etc. But you always have to take care of yourself. If you are not in good health, it is more difficult to be there for your family, friends, GOD, work etc. Tell people everyday how much they mean to you - you never know how long they or you will be here! You have come such a long way in your fitness, I am so glad you made the time to get your workout in. Continue to schedule it and just do it!

Mav and Leston: I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REPORTS!!!!! YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. My wife and daughter even know about your races and told me to wish you both The Best!

Bryan, seems like you have been gone for a month! I thought it was only 10 days???????

I had GREAT workouts Thursday night and again this morning. I found another Tri on August 13 that I am signing up for! This is a Wednesday night 6:30pm start! That will be interesting!

My biking seems to be very, very strong right now. I really feel good about it. My swim is so much better, but I am having a tough time swimming straight in OWS. Any suggestions????

Spudman Triathlon Race Report

Well, it was a great day for doing an Olympic triathlon with 2,100 other people in Burley, Idaho. Actually, it was pretty darn hot, but didn't get too warm too early thankfully. Here's the details of the race.

Swim
They had 7 waves, starting 10 min apart. I was in wave 4. The swim was 1 mile down the river with a nice current. I know this is why this particular race is so popular. Apparently I'm not the only one who likes a little help on the swim . Kind of a tricky start b/c you want to be out from the shore a ways to get in the current, but you don't want to spend too much time out there fighting the current to keep from going across the starting line. I timed it just about right, drifting right up to the start when they finished the countdown. I was close to the front on the right side. The course had a dogleg curve to the right about halfway through and I did a good job of staying to the right and taking about as direct a line as you can. I felt really good during the swim. Wetsuit helped, of course, but my stroke seemed to click. When I started to get tired, I reminded myself that this was the event I had trained so much for, and that kept me going. Sighting was a lot better than last time. I have practiced in the pool and it helped a lot. A couple of times I had to stop to get my bearings, but that was all. Felt great coming out of the water into T1. They cancelled the final wave of the swim b/c tragically, a man in wave 6 went down and they had to recover the body. It's hard to get too excited about racing when something like that happens. Second time this year at races I did. I feel really bad for the family. Sobering to hear about that when I finished the race.

T1
With the timing chip under my wetsuit (thanks for the tip Bryan!) the suit came off w/o a hitch. Dried off a bit, slipped on the socks and shoes, helmet and glasses. Everyone had a sack to put swim gear in, which we dropped it off just before leaving T1. We got really great spots for our bikes in T1 due to arriving early on Friday afternoon.

Bike
The course was a pretty flat 24 mile loop (that's 40K for you FBP ). I didn't want to count the miles as they went by, so instead of showing distance I had my bike computer set to show average speed (along with current speed, cadence, etc). That was a good thing. It kept my cadence and speed up, and kept my mind off how far I had to go. I had 2 gels taped to the top tube. I took one about 4 miles in, the other during the last two miles. I had to talk myself into them, but I was glad I did. I felt like I was able to go a pretty good pace all the way. The last leg there was a pretty good headwind, so that made you dig deep to finish strong. Overall I felt really good about the bike.

T2
This was a different area than T1, so it just had my shoes, watch, and number belt. We also set that up the night before and got a really great location. I wish that I wouldn't have left my shoes out all night, though because the sprinklers for the golf course where the event was came on and soaked everybody's stuff. Crazy. Next time, I will just reserve my place with a towel, and my number, and drop off the shoes in the morning. Amazing how I learn something new every time! We dried them out the best we could, and they were pretty dry by the time I got there after the bike portion. It was a big transition area with so many people, so it took a while to run through. My spot was close to the entrance so at least I didn't have to weave through the place with my bike.

Run
I knew this was going to be tough. 6 miles, hot, already been racing for an hour and a half. So I tried to pace myself carefully so as not to go out too fast. Actually felt pretty good at the start of the run. I felt like my running legs came quicker than before and I was in the zone after only about 3 minutes. I was tired though. Hot, no shade anywhere. I got in a little rhythm: Left, -, Left, -, Left, Right, Re, Peat. That's what I focused on - thinking about you guys all along the way. Thanks Bryan and everyone! You really kept me going. I think that was the longest 6 miles I ever ran, but I did it. Walked through the three water stations, and sprinted through the finish line - it was a nice little downhill through the trees onto the grass of the golf course. Great finish line location! Felt so great to be done.

Here's a link to my results if you are interested. http://www.milliseconds.com/ResultsIndividual.php?varParticipantRec...

Overall
I couldn't be happier with the race. I feel like it all came together at the right time for me. I can't tell you how much help this group has been. Thank you all so much. Thanks for sending good thoughts and wishes my way, no doubt they helped me today!

Notes of interest
I had to go and get a nice sunburn on my back Thursday while at the pool with my kids. That didn't help. Didn't sleep much last night between thinking about the race and my sore back. It didn't really bother me during the race thankfully. This race was not USAT sanctioned. No body marking, no rules about athletes only in transition areas (except for during the actual race). They said not to draft on the bike, but there were so many people, it was really hard to avoid it. My brother got in a pack that grew to about 30 riders and they flew along together. So it was not as well organized as the other events I have done, but the volunteers were great and I thanked as many as I could. It sure takes a lot of people to pull something like this off.

Well, that's the race report. Sorry it's so long. Mav, your turn next. Sending all my good wishes your way.

sTRIving forever,

Leston

"Sorry it's so long"

What you talkin' 'bout Leston ???? RACE REPORTS CAN NEVER BE TOO LONG. I want to know every bit of detail that you can remember so that I feel like I'm there with you.

OK, so I gotta know. When you cross the line at the Spudman, did the announcer say "Leston, you are now a .... Potato Head"   Seriously though, congratulations on a great performance. Very envious of you now being an Oly distance veteran.

Very sad that a life was lost during the race. May God bless his family/friends with strength at this difficult time.

Wise words Dan that you wrote in your post - we can all use reminders like that to focus on what's important FIRST and allow the other things to fill in around the edges.

Good night all !!

LESTON - YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!

WOW! I am so impressed! In checking your age group, you finished 27 out of 155. That is amazing for someone who was as afraid of the swim as I am! I knew you were a strong runner, but your swim and bike times amazed me! I am not even ready for an OLY yet at any speed - maybe next year!

Your race report is not too long or detailed! I love getting all the details, this helps me (and others too) understand the little things that happen during a race. Remember, we are all Tri Geeks or we wouldn't be here *-a$$ed grin on face*.

Also, remind me not to get into one of your races! There seems to be tragedy - I have already said a prayer for that athlete and their family! That is terrible!

Keep up the GREAT work and put aloe on your sun-burn!!!!!

Mav, waiting for you!

Dan, I am really starting to wonder about the loss of life at my OWS events, no irreverence intended. We are all wondering how often this sort of thing happens. I suspect (hope) that it is just a coincidence and people dying at triathlons is a rarity.

No, they didn't pronounce the appellation of Potato Head on me, Sticka, but they did hang a big potato medal around my neck! And we all got a baking spud in our goody bag. Oh, and one at the dinner the night before (along with the spaghetti). And, of course, french fried potatoes with my Carl's Jr. burger after the race. Spuds make the world go 'round. At least if you're in Idaho anyway.

Leston... let me say WWWWOOOOOO HHHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That is one impressive first oly!!! YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!!!! Did I read right????? 47 mins for a 10 K. I'm gonna start eating spuds TODAY. That was really awesome!.

I cant believe that there was another triathlete death at a race. I swim so often, it is somewhat scary. Perhaps people are not prepared enough for the open water swim adventure. My thoughts are with the family!

OK RACE REPORT>>> LONG....GET SOME FOOD AND A DRINK.. Leston you can have a spud!

I had to work last nite til 11:00 pm which totally sucked!!! Didnt get to bed til almost midnight, but I dont sleep well before races. Woke up at 4:15 am and as soon as I finished making coffee, BA BOOM!!!! Thunder lightening and torrential rain. Great, I thought, you can do this!.

I had coffee , bannana and rice cake with peanut butter. Told my family to hang out at home for a while as I knew the race wouldnt start on time.. so no sherpas today!.
Got to the race site, and got a GREAT spot in transition. Left all my gear in plastic bags as it was still raining and went down to the lake to pray to the weather GODS!!!

It worked. By 8:00 the race had started. I was in the 5th wave. There were 3300 women registered for this race (thats alot of estrogen!!!). I got right up front in my wave and took off. finished the 1/2 mile in 10:10 a PR for me!!!!!!I was psyched as I knew I did well in the swim. It was hard because there are so many people and many first timers who just stop dead in the water so you have to swim around them. T1 was good. I brought a bucket rinsed the mud off my feet, slipped on my bike shoes. I forgot to undo the velcro straps on the shoes which slowed me down as I was trying not to get muddy. But I left everything for T1 in a plastic bag in case the skies opened again. Next time I'll have clear T1 and T2 bags.

The bike was great. I passed a ton of people ( my last race, I was passed often). I did great until the last mile and then we had to go single file toward transition which really slowed me down. Hopped off the bike and slipped on my sneakers. NO SOCKS....really daring this race!!! and I was off!

I just plain suck at running, no way around it... I kept a steady pace until I choked on a sport bean and had to stop and cough it up! What was I thinking??? NO eating in sprints!!! My family was cheering for me at the halfway point on the run which is always helpful. My son was up on brigde yelling "good job ladies" , I saw him and yelled "hey kid get off that bridge before you fall" He then yelled "thats my MOM the best mom in the world.. Go MOM". Everyone was cheering... It actually made me pick up my pace...SMILE!!!!!
Coming in the chute was great.. huge crowd .. lots of cheering.

I finished in 1:25:25. This was 10 mins FASTER than last year WOOOHOOOOO. I was 14/212 in my age group. I will be very interested to see what the final splits are when they post the race. My goals were to finish in under 1:30 (done) to finish in top 10 AG( not done, but OK) I wanted to finish in the top 150 swimmers including the elites (lofty goal) Well see when the post the final results.

I think of all of you at certain times during races...it makes the mental part so much easier. You will all be with me when I do my Ironman swim on August 30... I need lots of positive thoughts for the 2.4 miles. Couldn't have done it without you turtles...Thanks!!!!!

Mav: YOU ROCK GIRL!

*on my knees bending over while paying homage* I am not worthy, I am not worthy!

Both Mav and Leston were awesome this weekend! A 10:10 in 1/2 mile swim is just amazing and Leston's 47 10K is just as awesome. You are all true inspiration. I need to go workout even harder

Bryan, welcome back! We missed you and I will be holding my breath waiting for your words of wisdom (OK, I done holding my breath, but I am still waiting!)

I have added 2 races for sure: August 10th I am doing the Lansing Legislator OLY as a relay. I am biking, my 12 year old daughter is running and my college roommate's 16 year old son is swimming - what the Hell am I doing with these youngsters??????? Here is the link for the race: www.3disciplines.com/index.php?option=com_events&task=view_detail&agid=18&year=2008&month=08&day=10&Itemid=1

I have also added a sprint on August 13th (www.runtrextri.com/). This is at 6:30 pm. It will be different doing one on a weeknight, but I wanted one more before Chicago (August 24th). I will add these to the google calendar!

My Chicago goal is 1:30 (I moved this down from 1:36 that I set in Jan.). Mav and Leston have inspired me to push even more!

Mav, please post the link to the race results when you can. I like checking those!

Have a GREAT week! Everyone here keeps pushing me, thank you!

Dan I was ROFL when I read your post!!! I actually did it in 10:01 when the results were posted on the internet. Another Bow please... I am terrible with the computer but the website is www.timberlinetiming.com then go to search races for Danskin New England

OK I think I am onto something...Leston and Sticka are really good runners. Did you know that PEI in Canada is famous for their Spuds? And we all know about Idaho. Do you think there is a correlation here? I dont know about you guys but I'm going out to get some spuds tommorow!!!

Mav, you are the swimming machine! Ten minutes for 1/2 mile...I could beat that...going downstream...in a motorboat...yeah. You rock. Nice job on the whole race. You are a veteran triathlete and it shows.

As far as the calendar goes, I've not got any events lined up. The Spudman was my ultimate goal and I hadn't thought much past it. Now that its over I'm thinking about what is next. But a big thing for me now is to catch up on all of the things I have been putting off so I could have time to train. Projects around the house, etc. My wife has been very supportive and patient, and it's time to reciprocate the support. I'm thinking about doing a 1/2 marathon on the 23rd of August, but haven't committed to it yet. Probably won't do any more TRIs this season, but will definitely keep biking and running.

On one hand, I'm giddy to think that I don't have to do any more laps in the pool. But, at the same time, I'm happy that I've finally got to the point where I can swim fairly well and it would be a shame to just quit. So I will likely keep swimming to some degree and try to get a little better. My brother is talking about doing the Viking Man next year, a HIM. I don't know about that. Would be a lofty goal, and lots of training hours. I'd love to do some more sprints, so I'll likely do a few for sure next season.

Bryan, so glad to have you back. Hope that you had a wonderful time! Looking forward to hearing from you, our fearless leader!
