ebshot - 2008-12-10 4:27 AM Morning Vixens.  Can't sleep.  Been up since 3:45.  I'm waiting for my coffee to finish brewing.

Everything OK?  Hope you get a chance to take a nap later.

Yeah, just too much stuff going on!  No time for a nap either.   I've had more coffee than any human should consume in one day though!

ETA:  Sweet toppage!!!!

runnerx - 2008-12-10 11:58 AM Hey all - Got a favor to ask... (posting this in both of my challenges - sorry for the duplicate) I'm writing up a newsletter for my running club and wanted to include people's responses to the following question: "Why do you run?" So, I'm asking you all the same, and I'd like to include your responses (completely anonymous). Any type of response is welcome - funny, serious, deep, whatever. PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting on the thread. Thanks in advance.

bump

I'm still thinking about my answer

some how 'because I have to' doesn't quite cut it

Well...I started running & doing triathlons in my mid 40s as a way to challenge myself and others about the notion of what women can and cannot do.  I now keep running, at 50, as a way to keep myself sane and to fully appreciate myself and the world around me.

Hey Vixens, I just finished another swim for the challenge. It felt awkward, but turned out to be much faster than my last few.

Hmmm...very interesting. Good for you. I have a feeling the "sanity" answer is going to be common. I know that's part of my reason for doing tri's.

So, back to the running question

I started doing tri's in my mid forties and hadn't run since high school.  In HS I ran track one season - it was pretty much a disaster

My first tri was a sprint and I pretty much walked the whole way (I also bought my first bike 2 weeks before my first tri - lol!)

anyhooo

I'm going into my 4th season of tris and am finally starting to enjoy the running part - (if you can call what I do running )

I ran at first because it was part of the tri training, now I run because I am having fun and it makes me feel strong (did I say that?!!!)

you really have to plan your drinking in PA - some of the weirdest liquor laws ever!  It took me a week to find a bottle of wine when I first moved here :/
