wsilverthorne - 2010-10-24 6:36 PM I like this hat....it simply says " I'm a $hithead"...sweet and simple.  I could add some butyric acid to the pile and it would be excellent!!!!  I'm feeling snacky...I should probable go to bed ..... bad time of night for a snacky.  But, sounds good.  Poor Marsha is probably eating fish right now...UGH....

Dude... HOW can you post that and say, "I'm feeling snacky?!" Maybe a nice heaping pile of chocolate pudding would hit the spot! Or how about a cinnamon roll the size of your head?

Here's a game you might enjoy playing with the kidlets:

Hey all, let's give a huge shout out to our very own, MARSHA, as she bares her buff self to the masses in her very first body building competition.  Her new cookbook, "Mega Ways to Cook Egg Whites and Fish" will be in stores by Christmas!  And the posters of her posing will also be in WalMart in time for the holiday season!  They will be up in teenage boys' rooms across the country and even in Europe!

Bummer - I can't see the pictures for some reason

Thank you all for the well wishes - you guys are the BEST!

We're all checked in, passed the polygraph test , applied the final coat of fake tan (by painting each other with a paintbrush!...I'm feeling pretty Jamaican!) and then stood around naked eating one last meal of fish while it dried....no dignity!

Tomorrow we get to sleep in, and wake up starting the day with CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meeting at 10:30 to go over the poses etc. Then my class will hit the stage around 1:30pm.

YIKES!

Secondly - how the hell do I become the guy with the paint brush...that sounds so cool!!!  I would even eat fish with ya all.(mind clear now hehe)....and do a little more painting....I could really get creative....I'm an artist....did I tell everyone that...I can do this:

I know...you all are thinking....Wow, is wilson such a nice guy to help this triathlete look cute....almost as good as finding the perfect color coordinated Tri suit....I think I did a pretty good job here...I should be hired as soon as possible....

Anyone need any touch-ups......whew....I need to wipe my brow now....I'm sweating!!!

KICK SOME MAJOR A$$ MARSHA!!!

Woah! Not quite...LOL! I will try to get some pics up soon (gotta hang with the the kids a bit - they have missed me I will also be back to post some details of the experience but here's the short version...I competed in the novice division where there were 13 competitors. There were 2 categories of awards given for the division. Overall best poser (best at the technical aspect of each pose; positioning, stance, etc) and Overall winners (with regards to muscle shape, symmetry, etc).

I placed FIRST for best poser and FIFTH for overall I had a great time and WILL do it again! It was FUN! I plan to make bodybuilding my fall and winter sport and triathlon my spring and summer sport

So I made the decision to start training for the bodybuilding in August 2010 at which time I was at my "ultimate" goal weight of 135 (and 23% bodyfat) and feeling pretty happy with the 50 or so pounds I had lost since July 2008 I had just completed 3 triathlons so thought I was in good shape. Here are 2 photos from the start of the adventure:

I trained hard and ate a really strict diet from mid August until the competition on 10/30/30 and here are 3 pics (SORRY they are sideways - I can't get them to turn) from then (a bunch more on the other pictures thread if you're interested):

In the week leading up to the competition I had 3 sessions of spray tan some sessions in the tanning bed, and lots of Jergen's self tan lotion. I ate really high protein and low to no carbs the whole time with the last week being about 6 meals a day of fish and broccoli or asparagus...that's about it

We checked in on Friday and had to take a polygraph test (to attest to the fact that no performance enhancing substances were used) and get weighed in (I was 120 and 14% bodyfat). The polygraph test was a hoot - they asked me all kinds of bizarre questions...I passed Good thing because if I didn't I would have had to pee in a cup and I hadn't drunk any water in over 12 hours Then we headed to the hotel room for one more layer of fake tan - standing naked in the hotel room painting each other with a paintbrush and some kind of tan spray.... After that it had to dry for almost an hour so more standing around naked while we ate another meal of...yep, you guessed it, FISH for dinner. Finally got to bed to get a good night sleep

Up early for a light workout to get "pumped up" and then off to the competition site. Sign in and go to the ready area where we saw all kinds of craziness - we'll just say some people had a more natural looking fake tan than others . Donned the itsy-bity-teeny-weeny-blue-bikini and used some WOOD GLUE to keep it in place on my skin so it wouldn't shift and give people more of a show then they bargained for Finally, applied gobs of eye makeup and lipstick and then got sprayed with Pam cooking spray for a nice shiny glow .

Out onto stage with the other novice girls (this means anyone who has never placed in the top 3 at a competition - so, not everyone in this group is a first time competitor). For the mandatory poses - 13 of them. They call out each one and then you hold the position as they compare all of you before moving onto the next one. After all are done they shifted us around on the stage (to put different people next to each other for comparison) and re-called some of the poses. You'd think standing there posing would be no big deal but I swear there was a puddle of sweat under me when I was done After that they went through a bunch of other divisions of both women and men and then I went up again for the masters heavyweight division (this means women over 35 who weigh over 117...Love it (NOT!) that someone 118+ is called heavyweight )

Then there was a break for a few hours for the judges to deliberate and tally votes. Once the break was over it was back on stage for my 75second performance to music (I did Bossy by Lindsay Loehan - I don't care for her but it was a good song for this purpose!). After those were done there was a pose-off in any division that the judges needed to see more of (neither of my divisions had to do this) and then the awards were given.

So, we got up at 6am, had the athletes meeting at 10am, hit the stage at 1:30pm and all in all weren't done until 10pm...it was a LOOOOOONG day. Then we went and PIGGED OUT on Italian food (I probably gained 5 pounds already!) and finally got to shower and to bed after that.

Yes, I am still a hideous fake tan color and will be for days. Yes, today I am eating ANY and EVERYthing. Tomorrow I will get back on a normal, healthy, clean-eating diet

It was a fun, totally unlike anything I have ever done before challenging experience - I LOVED IT!

I am planning to do another one in March I think and then go back to triathlon training for the spring and summer.

Wow, Marsha, the transformation from before to after is jaw-dropping! You show what hard work and determination can do. It cracks me up that 120 lbs puts you in the heavyweight division - I weighed more than that when I was 12!

AWESOME Marsha, simply awesome!  I can't believe you lost 15 pounds and 6% body fat in just a few short months!!!  Have you had to go buy new clothes??  It's so fun to hear the "inside" view of bodybuilding, Pam, who knew??  I hope you are taking some time off, maybe you can go for a run or a swim or something!!!  And of course, EAT!!!
