Today was my first day to exercise in 31 days. Still recovering from surgery but at least I was able to get back in the pool. Hopefully just a few more weeks until I can get back on the bike and running again.

For those of you that live in the Woodlands area where is the best place to leave a car near the start of the bike course? I'm hoping to get up there in a few months to start riding the course. Is there a safe place to park the car for the day?

There's a lot of parking, depending on how far you want to go and which part of the course you want to ride. Transition will be almost across the street from an HEB grocery store that has a very safe (patrolled) parking lot. Other safe, big lots are at the Wallmart at Woodlands Parkway & 2978, and at the Kroger at 2978 & 1488. There's also a YMCA at Shadowbend and Woodlands Parkway that quite a few riders park at every Saturday and Sunday morning. You can also find a number of parking options in Montgomery.

For those of you riding the course.  A few sections with cracks on Osburn road are being repaired.  The result of the repairs is a lot of fresh gravel in one corner.  Be careful out there.  The gravel wasn't there on 11/21, but it was on 11/28.  I'm sure the gravel will clear up from traffic, but be careful.

That caught my attention too...not that I'd make the trip from California for it.

Any locals interested in driving the course with a video camera and posting to youtube? Someone did this for the Vineman course and it was a big help to get familiar with the terrain.

I was thinking of driving the course with a camera.  I will try to barrow one this weekend and get it done.

I would really like to see the video.  I was thinking about doing the same myself -- mounting a short tripod to the dash and driving the course early one morning, going as reasonably slow and steady as traffic would allow, and then slowing the video down with iMovie so that it is closer to real time (although it would be a little jumpy because the frame rate would drop).

Well folks, I'm making the decision early on this year not to participate in IMTX.  I signed up because it was in my backyard, but after looking at what I'll need to do for the next 6 months, I'm remembering why I said I'd never do another IM.  I'll be out there supporting everybody though!

I'll be focusing on my cycling and running so I can start hitting the duathlon circuit pretty hard.  Short and fast races for 2011!

(it is a bit of a downer...especially watching 2 entrance fees go to waste!)

Ironman Texas training started for me this week.  It feels good to be back at it.  I took some downtime after the US Open.  This will be a great journey to IM Texas!

There will be many, many training camps going on for IM Texas.  We're doing one in March.  And I know of at least 2 other coaches from DFW doing camps in March and April.  If you're interested in a training camp, hunt around on the internet.  I'm sure you'll find one that meets your needs.

Training starts in four weeks but I'm already anxious, I ran the White Rock Half and that was it for the season. For now just concentrating in running frequency and started taking swim lessons with Chris McCurdy to see if I can come out of the water in less than 1:10 or 1:05.
So, how's the training folks?
Anybody putting big numbers already?

Almost recovered from IMCOZ. As soon as the numbness goes away in my 2 toes then it's time to get back into gear. Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to it already. I thought I would be feeling some burnout. Maybe because it's in my backyard.

I think most people around my area are ramping up on January 1st.
