Subject: RE: Ghoulie September Core ChallengeSo I am SUPER EXCITED FOR SWIMMING! We had a discussion last night about last season. The new coach had a talk with the head coach and the head coach basically said "im not sure if you want to run the group like ti was done last year"...It kind of clicked with me why he said that and why I wasn't particularly into swimming last season and why I was having trouble returning. Basically we were run into the ground...we were doing sets that I would have done when I was swimming 20-25hrs a week. We only train 6hrs a week and our practices are 90min not 2hrs. So all the emphasis was on getting a ridiculous "best avg" set or something similar done, rather than building aerobic, etc. Way too much time working on VO2 max and LT rather than plain aerobic and aerobic zoning. So every day I was tired and dreading going back to kind of just get by in a set because we never did hard, but achieveable...we did "you are meant to die". I mean, I'm not against hard, but all the time? No...just no... So anyways, it looks like ti will be better and I might be able to get better at sprinting! Haha |
