Seriously?!  I have not trained since last Tuesday...well what can I say?  Infection in my eye? 50 hour work week plus 140 mile round trip? Stess at work?  Too dark? Too cold? Nah all excuses...the biggest challenge...lost motivation.  I have had the time to train but lacked any sense of motivation.

So organization is the goal tonight; get my bag ready, plan my ST and have a goal/focus for tomorrow night.  Made my bran muffins for the week and two nights worth of dinner tonight too.  Set out clothes, pack gym bag, charge ipod, and read my new Triathlete mag for motivation...lets get this thing going!Cool

What do you do to get going?

I realized that I must just take December one day at a time. If I get a planned workout in...if not...ok. I've goat to focus on getting ready for the holidays and a houseful of guests. So motivation has waned at bit to make sure I don't go crazy. That said I do have my bag packed for tomorrow too and look forward to reading my Triathlete magazine too!

I've been sick with a coughy, thick cold.  I'm not sleeping well and can't gather the energy to workout.  I'll go to my exercise class tonight and then try to regroup tomorrow.

December tends to be a rough month for alot of folks (me included).  Definitely fight "the blues" this time of year, due to the onslaught of year-end stuff, holidaze, and at least in our town a bunch of extra traffic all the time that makes trying to get anything done twice as long as usual.  Then there is the lack of natural light issue on top of it.  So, while I haven't really thought about it until now, December is a time where I seem to try to work out on a daily basis, even if it is a short workout or doing stretching and yoga at home, or taking a walk, or something... because I know it is important for my day to day outlook.  So for me, it is a bit more about little breaks in the day for a moment of mind clearing.  And, I often daydream about plans and thoughts for the coming year in preparation for post Jan 1st!  Keeps me forward looking :-

Hi all,

Ran our local soccer club's cross country 5k this morning.  New PR of 32:06!

I made a trip to the bike shop yesterday to repair my son's mountain bike but ended up buying 2 new ones instead.  So I now have a nice Cannondale 29'er and will be heading out on some local trails sometime this weekend.

Hope everyone's winter training is going well.

That's what I'd call a good day :-)  You're within spittin' distance of sub-30 now, Steve.  I expect you'll be smashing that barrier in 2012!  Nicely done!

Steve, that's a great run!I'm finally gearing up to get back to some training after some time off for travel and a coughing cold. Ive lost my momentum and the weather has changed. I need a new plan/schedule.I got some new running shoes today, tested them out briefly then back in the box so they can go under the Christmas tree, LOL!

Well, I think serious training is out the window until the New Year.

It's only 5:00pm and I'm on my 3rd glass of wine!  House is being decorated by the kids.  Wrapping gifts is underway.  Panic is setting in with 14 house guests expected for the holidays.  Preliminary food shopping @ BJ's completed.  Tomorrow is the BIG cleaning day.

Whoohooo!  I'll be ready for serious physical effort come January 2nd!

Hi All,

Hoping to get a few more good workouts in this week before our family expands by 11 on Friday :-)  Though, my BIL will be in town, so I'm sure he'll want to get out and kick my butt on a couple of long runs or swims next week!

Wanted to say a couple of things.  First, best wishes for a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year.  I hope that 2012 is a great for your training and health!  I've really enjoyed getting to know all of you during this past year and I'm very impressed with what you've accomplished.  It is not easy to stick with it through sickness, injury, weariness, etc. and those of you who remain have integrated your training with your life.  It's no longer just a whim or a bucket item, but part of an on-going better lifestyle choice that will do wonders for your health and outlook.  I've loved watching the progress you've all made and seeing you achieve your goals - keep it up!  I'll continue to check in on you in the coming year!!!

Which brings me to a recent decision I've made.  I've fallen behind in so many dimensions of my life this Fall due to everything that's been going on in our lives, that I've decided I need to cut back on a few things, one of which will be leading a mentor group this Spring.  I've really enjoyed the experience, and especially the people, but I know I don't quite have the energy to take on the commitment this Spring.  Just wanted to express my appreciation to all of you and especially my co-leader, Heidi.  It's been a great year and you all were a big part of my on-going motivation.  Thank you!

I do plan to be active on the mentor boards this Spring, but as a participant, rather than a mentor/facilitator. Two of my good BT friends will be leading a group, and I'd highly recommend them if you'll be looking for a group starting in January.  Not sure what they'll call their group, but Experior will be one of the leaders - so you can look for him if you're interested!

Take care and rock and roll in 2012!  See you in the FoP!

Stu

Actually... woah... the groups are already forming.  Michael and Randy's group is at the following link:

Hope to see you over there (they are both super knowledgeable, btw)

Thanks for all that you've done for us, Stu. I've appreciated your inspires and your thoughts on various topics. I hope that you have a great year and I will try to check in on your blog/log from time to time.I signed on for a different group earlier today. It felt odd, but I suspected that your plate was full enough. I'm looking forward to the coming year with all of it's possibilities still out there.

Thanks Stu.  I loved being in your mentor program and everyday looked forward to everyone's posts.  Thanks for all you inspiration and insight.

I, too, have signed up with another group (the same one as Andrea!).  I'm looking forward to a great year.

Good luck to everyone!

Well, it's a sad thought that this group is coming to an end, but I guess I knew this day was coming...

I want to say thanks to everyone in the group, but especially Stu, for all the support and encouragement this year.  I've had an amazing year, achieving things I never thought possible, and this group really has been an essential part of that.  Without the tips, suggestions and general support I don't think I would have stuck with my training program as well as I have (with the occasional ups and downs of course...), and I've learned a huge amount about setting goals and sticking with them.

Even when I haven't been posting regularly I've been checking this group nearly every day to see what everyone else has been up to.  You've been a great bunch of people to get to know.

Thanks.
