Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us?Not sure if I'm still allowed to update since I'm not streaking anymore. (What say you Left Brain?) Since my streak, I have been running 5-6 days per week....and yesterday I bumped my long run day up to 13.1 miles. Yes - I did the .1 at the end! I am running a 1/2 mary on 12/31. This same 1/2 kicked my a** last year (blew out my achilles - ran it in 2:04). My goal this year is sub 1:45. On my training run yesterday I decided to do a "heart rate" run. Using the heart rate monitor for races is my new thing. I kept my heart rate in the low 150's and finished my training run in 1:44 !! I wasn't even trying hard, and I still beat my goal for the 1/2 on New Years eve. I truly believe I owe it to my first 30 day streak because it taught me that if I am smart about it, I can run way more frequently than I previously thought. I can't wait for my long run next week (going to run a 1/2 again, and I'm going to bump it up to close to race pace (160-165 bpm) and see where my time ends up. I will then start my taper and plan my race around next weeks long run and recovery. |
