I think they just start some new ones. Some people don't have races so early in the season, so they don't sign up for a group at the turn of the year. I plan on sticking around until we all cross a finish a line or two Oh, good. I was about to be very upset that we'd been archived! |

Also, my grandmother had to go the hospital two days ago. Apparently it's pretty advanced colon cancer. They've done some surgery so far to ease the pain, but as she's 90 years old, they don't really think any treatment will be able to get the cancer without taking her out first. My Dad seems to be doing ok right now, but he's a CPA with the 15th only days away, and my sister is getting married in May. So now he's dealing with probably losing the last of his parents on top of all that (his dad died a month after his wedding when he was 28). I am very sorry to hear that. I'm keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers. |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! sesh - 2009-04-08 9:06 AM Ok... so about those loan loss reserves.. Or, here is my race report: New Orleans 70.3 It was an amazing race. The water was like glass, though not quite as clear. Still, compared to what I normally swim in, it was like swimming in pool. The winds got rough on the bike, but I felt really good for all 56 miles. I totally burned out after eight miles of the run, but I did the fun shuffle/walk/jog to mile 12.5. After that, you could hear the finish line and the spectators were starting to line the road. Then they were two deep, then three deep, four deep, and by the last hundred yards it was just a sea of people. It was like we were doing a mountain stage of the tour de France. High fiving people on both sides, St. Louis Cathedral hanging over you. Absolutely the coolest thing I've ever experienced in a race. If you ever are looking for fun trip with a nice 70.3 mile challenge, get thyself to New Olreans!!
It's great when the hard work pays off. I've read a few race reports and it seems a good time was had by all. Maybe I'll have to put that race on my "someday" list. (Although I'm trying not to put too much on that list until I survive my first sprint!) |

I vaguely remembered signing up online a few months ago but I never win when I enter those things. I got a yoga mat, dvd and most importantly some coupons for MaraNatha Nut Butters including some for free jars. I'm geeky - what can I say but I love coupons for free products especially ones that I use. |

I guess they though his bib said 1165. It helps to not go completely into a real aggressive aero position when you start out. I was actually pretty far back and relaxed for New Orleans because 56 miles is still a long way for me to be in my "true" position. For shorter races I like to feel like I'm almost falling over the handlebars. Plus, there's a certain amount of flexibility and handling ability that you've got to gradually work your way into. But you feel unbelievably cool when you finally get it dialed in. |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Work is really crazy this week so I rearranged my workouts to fit the schedule better. My long swim was supposed to be today, but I got to the pool and found out it was closed for the holiday. Ugh. My training plan OCD was already upset with the rearranging. Today's glitch will probably put me over the edge! At least it's Friday! Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? |

LOL Happy Easter, Passover and anything else that might be out there. Hope everyone has a great weekend. |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Hey, is this training stuff supposed to hurt? I finally got my swim done on Saturday afternoon, after taking two yoga classes. It felt good, and ended up being one of my faster swims. I was proud of myself for staying focused despite the kids in the lane next to me who were either trying to teach themselves butterfly or splash all the water out of the pool. The old guy who was in that lane before the kids arrived finally gave up and moved over with me. I just figured it was good practice for an OWS start. Yesterday I did my long run, slowly. It was windy and I was working hard just to move forward at times. Taught a yoga class too. I noticed yesterday that my upper arms and shoulders were alittle sore from swimming. Then this morning I woke up early to swim and I could barely lift my arms. Pretty much my whole body aches, but my arms went from being alittle sore to feeling like I'd been beat up. I skipped my swim and got on my bike instead, figuring the muscles need another day off. I didn't want to jump in the pool and sink to the bottom because I can't move! I figure this is just a sign that I had solid workouts over the weekend. Or is it a sign that I overdid it? I didn't go longer than my plan called for, but I had all that yoga in there too. It may also be a sign that I should eat more of my kids' Easter candy. At least, that's what I've been telling them. |

Expert 1797 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia | Subject: RE: Sesh's Group - FULL! Not sure what to say about the super sore arms but it sounds like you got some good workouts in. Maybe you really engaged those muscles and they weren't used to it. Hopefully they feel better tomorrow. I swam today in my husband's wetsuit. Not sure what that means since it fits me pretty good. I will say it's a tad small on him - maybe! But I had a really good swim. At least I don't have to rent for this weekend. I ate so much candy this weekend that I'm surprised I didn't end up in a diabetic coma. |

I canned my sprint next week as the vaca is more important to me and i dont have the extra $$ for it, i also canned the second olympic in july. I want to focus all my energy for the remainder of the year on the Miami Man 1/2 ironman in november, and the disney marathon in January. So if i stay with that, my first season would be 1 sprint, 1 olympic, 1 HIM, 1 marathon. one day at a time i guess right? now if only this damn bike would move itself! It very well could be from all the yoga. I used to do a yoga class, LOVED the stretching out it gave me, but it really did wear out my muscles. I cut it out so I could increase my training load, but it was a serious increase. As in Sprint training up to HIM training. The time for recovery just wasn't there. If you find that the soreness begins to get less and less... well... sore, then I think you'll be ok. |

Do you practice transistion when you do them? I like to scatter stuff around the house the day before, then try to remember where I put them when I get off the bike. Granted, it's not true transition practice, but I take it easy, stay calm, locate my stuff, then head out the door. It seems that by creating a disaster scenario in training, transition during a race is a piece of cake. All my stuff is right there and neatly in order, but if something were to happen or be misplaced, I'm ready for it and I stay calm. Of course, you should also practice good transitions, but that's simple enough to do without going through the entire brick process first. |
