Nuttin' you can 'bout the weather, so just be prepared! Cheers, Chris x3 agreed. If you live in Wisconsin you know that watching the weatherman the night before means nothing. Weather here in Wisconsin can change in an instant. Who raced Racine this year? Cloudy all morning, quick rainfall then the sun came out and the temp went up 20 degrees in 10 minutes or at least it seemed that way. In fact while I am writing this the sun is popping out after a huge downpour not more then 10 minutes ago. Todays forecast was sun through the day and showers early in the night... |

Couldn't agree more. I arrived in Madison pretty early last year, I think on Tuesday afternoon. I packed for the forecast, which was a high no more than the mid-to-upper 70s and lows on the chillier side. I had long sleeves, jackets, jeans, etc for my regular clothes and had arm warmers and layers for the race. It ended up being super hot, upper 80s and humid. I had to wear the same outfit all week and was roasting on race day. You just never know! |

It's around 77 right now, but temps should be dropping off as the weather will be cooling down this week. I'll go stick my toes in during my ride tomorrow and I'll let you know. |

Getting well below the wetsuit line? Swam in Monona twice this week and the water is v?ery comfortable, significantly cooler than a few weeks ago. I heard it was 77F too, but it feels cooler to me. No wetsuit worries. Edited by SSMinnow 2010-09-02 9:14 PM |

I was thinking of having arm warmers and gloves in my T1 bag just in case and then a long sleeve in T2 or run special needs. I used a similar strategy for IMFL last year and will do the same this year. I put on the arm warmers if needed in T1. I then stage a long sleeve or running jacket in my special needs bag on the run (didn't need it for IMFL). T2 for me takes place right around 3-4pm so there is no way I am going to need a long sleeve at the warmest point of the day. Depending on how my marathon is going and how quickly the temperature drops I may well need it by special needs. I just wouldn't want to lug around an extra shirt for the whole run if I didn't need it. With the current forecast being a high of 67 degrees and a low of 45 degrees I guess it is just a matter of what you are comfortable with. |

Extreme Veteran 572 | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread I stand corrected, Accuweather just updated their prediction to High 74 Low 50. Watching Accuweather during the build up is kinda like watching them weigh in on the Biggest Loser. You get to watch the numbers bounce around higher and lower until it finally settles somewhere in the middle. Makes for good entertainment. Edited by jjcnbg 2010-09-03 4:44 AM |

Expert 1002 | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread If those temps hold, I'm going to be one of the happiest people on course that day. I've had serious issues running in the heat this year, as all of my long runs of 13+ AND my marathon absolutely destroyed me in the heat. Or maybe I'm just running too fast. Naaaah, it's the weather. ETA: If you're biking today, dress relatively warm! Just stepped outside and it's not going to get any warmer than this, plus the sustained wind is supposed to kick up into the 20's. I was thinking of having arm warmers and gloves in my T1 bag just in case and then a long sleeve in T2 or run special needs. If the temps are in the 40s or 50s at the start of the bike, I'm stashing arm warmers/gloves in my T1 bag. If it's raining, a light jacket. For the run, my plan is to put a second set of arm warmers in my T2 bag. That way, I can always roll them down. If temps look like they'll be warm enough when I start the run, they'll go in special needs along with a shirt so I can make the decison on the fly. Like someone said below, I would be all for cool temps for race day. I too, have done every single brick and long run in big time heat. But in the end, we're going get, what we're going to get. Not putting too much stock in any weather reports until the day before. Of course, living in Madison I have the luxury of having all gear at my fingertips. |

Master 1222 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Do I understand that we do not get the SN bags back? So whatever I put in, unless I use it, I lose it? And for the start in the morning, since it will be cool, I will probably be wearing lots of clothes prior to the start. Do I put whatever I am not swimming with in the morning clothes bag? Can I have a family member get it at some point so I will have it at the finish? The Athlete Guide stated something about being able to pick them up from 10 a.m. -12:00 a.m.. I assume a lot of these types of questions will be answered at the athlete meeting? Edited by Gregkl 2010-09-03 6:35 AM |

SN bags - I have gotten mine back, you have to dig for them on Monday but have never lost anything. Now,with that said, I never put items in there that I would care about losing either. Yep you put what you are wearing in your morning clothes bag and that you get back that day/night. |
