Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jsiegs - 2010-05-06 11:57 AM Can someone tell me the difference between a set of HED H3 clinchers and like a HED Jet 6 clincher? Biggest difference i see is the ability to use a disk over for the Jet rear wheel. I'm sort of lost comparing which is better for whom and under what circumstances... Newbz covers it, but I bought a HED 3 front and just a disc cover for my current wheel for the rear. The cover is about $100 shipped and the front H3 I got for $400 shipped with tire/skewer/tube. HED recommended the H3 for me because I'm a "bigger" rider at 193 lbs and any wind issue that a small rider would have supposedly won't affect me as much. They also said that people claim that the H3 is less stable in the wind and they told me that in fact it's MORE stable. They said it's also the most durable wheel that they make. My fitter also confirmed that out of all the wheels that they sell, they have never had an H3 returned for manufacturing issues. I did buy mine used, but figured it is a safer bet for the money. Don't get me wrong, after switching to Zoots, my feet don't feel right in anything else. Have you ever tried them? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i tried a pair on. would prob never run in them. i dont want to totally rebuild my running for no reason. I dont really see the point. i have found a pair of shoes that lets me run a lot, comfortably. (zoots), and the time it would take to rebuild my running while getting used to a shoe that may or may not protect my feet seems stupid. plus i run offroad for half of my runs and that just sounds nasty in the,. |

The only reason I would try them is because I plan no taking several weeks off running after my marathon in October. I plan on picking up again in late December/January and start base training for Nats and IMLP. I do love running though, so I will have to wait and see if I can actually take a break. I just want to make sure that I don't burn out before IM training. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This week has sucked for a taper week! I have barely had time to get anything in at all. Soccer games and track meets and working late have kept me from doing almost anything. I can't stand not being able to get some training in!!! In a couple of hours I'll be leaving for Indianapolis for the 500 festival half marathon. I plan on running a couple of "pacing" miles this morning if the storming stops. I am targeting something like 7:45 miles for the race overall finish time of 1:41:00. This would knock 7 minutes off my old PR. I am actually pretty nervous about the race already. I normally get ancy in the 20-30 minutes before a race but I think its because I am really planning on pushing hard this year. Who else is running a half mary this weekend? I know I saw someone else that is but don't have time to check it. I gotta get the camper ready to go. Anyway, to everyone racing this weekend good luck! |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck Dirk! That is a cruising pace! On the taper, don't worry yourself that you didn't get much in. It probably did you more good that way. |

![]() I have a sprint tomorrow. Not really a big deal for me...more of a tune up for next weeks Oly. I'll be pretty busy this weekend with the race tomorrow morning, a softball game later that afternoon, and a pre mothers day dinner after that. Good luck everyone...Sunday/Monday will be story time. =) |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow, lots of races this weekend! Good luck all! I just did my second ever 1000ydTT and it went great. I originally wanted to make it a 2000ydTT but the pool I have to swim at is way too hot. From my first 1000ydTT that I did 2 months ago I knocked off 10"/100! My T-pace is down to 1:38/100 from 1:48/100. Lately I have been whimping out on the yardage in the pool because I don't have any immediate races and my swimming partner is out of shape for long stuff. However, he is and always will be a sprinter, which drastically helps me speed-wise in practice. I've only been swimming <2000yds lately and I hop to get it back up near 3000yds soon. |

Same with my swim partner, but he's good for long distance, not short. We are going to try to get our first OWS in Sunday morning. We'll see how that actually turns out. Gotta check the water temp! |

![]() tnguyen1 - 2010-05-07 11:48 AM Good luck to all those that are racing! Carlw/AC, nice swim TT! How do you spot a triathlete during a skydive? He's the one with spandex and aero helmet...using a HRM and trying to eat a GU on the decent. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck this weekend to all who are racing. Did my first OWS today in my wetsuit. Awesome! I went out with a friend from my gym who use to be a swim coach. She said I looked good and gave me some race day advice. Water was 62 degrees and felt fine. I was really worried I'd freeze, but it was ok. I actually liked it a lot better than the pool. Next Sat is my first tri, so I'm getting excited. I'm ready. Bring it. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for all the well wishing for me today. I SAAA-MASHED my half marathon PR by 9:06. My ols PR was 1:47:06 and my new PR is 1:38:00. Today's weather conditions weren't the best for running. Well, the temp. was nice (48 feels like 41) but the wind was pretty bad. I am not sure what the winds were at race time but they weref certainly gusting over 20 mph. I would say the steady wid was close to 20 and the gusts were close to 30. The current weather conditions say the winds are at 19 gusting to 34. I felt pretty good for most of the race. I took water or gatorade at nearly all of the stops, but the drinks were more like splashes since I don't really slow down. I used an Accelgel 20 min before the race and at mile 8 and used 2 packs of shot blocks spread throughout the race. I think my fueling was pretty good for the race. If anything it was to much. But anytime I flet like I was starting to run low I hit 3 shot blocks. My avg. HR was 160 (probably about right for a distance race for me) and my avg. miles were 7:28 (which is really good for me). I am very pleased with my race and I am SPENT! As tired as I feel I must have left it all out on the course. I think I deserve some extra sleep. Right now! I will post a race report later. |

I'm all about running on the balls of your feet if that's what feels most natural. If you want them for white water rafting, go for it! But I'm not all that convinced that a pair of $85+ sandals are worth it anyway.carlwithac - 2010-05-06 7:36 PMAnyone here ever ran in VFF? dont convert to the dark side!!! |

![]() Finished my sprint tri this morning. Overall, I did pretty well, but I now come to appreciate how flawless I did my first tri. I made a lot of mistakes in this race...none of them really cost me too much time, but just a few irritating little things. Once the official results become available, I'll finalize my RR...but here's the priliminary...times/rankings based on what I remember was posted on the board before I left. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=207096&posts=2&start=1 |
