Champion 6962 Atlanta, Ga | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Congruatulations!! Now if I may be so bold as to give you a nugget of advice. Stay involved. Go to the Florist, cake people, etc. But maintain Veto power. I really didn't care on many of the things, but if I really didn't like something, I said No. But stay involved...it's kinda fun. Especially when the florist looks at you weird because you're the only guy in the room and your asking intelligent questions. Go get up!! |

The "Stay Involved" bit also applies after the wedding. Marriage is work. Don't forget that. Try to keep things different and exciting and stimulating for both of you inside the bedroom as well as outside. Take time to talk outside of the children. Don't take each other for granted. Believe me, that's difficult after 5 years and the first kid or two. Learn to laugh. |

Expert 844 | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED This is turning into Dr. Phil......It is more second marriage. My first lasted 7 years and yielded the lovely thing one and thing two. I agree with everything you all said. She is a wonderful woman and will get my undivided attention in all things matrimonial.....She does not know how to swim, but that may change before my six year decides to drown her Say a prayer for me to whoever it is you pray to....You all are wonderful people!!!! |

Veteran 219 Russell, KS | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Sorry for the Doctor Phil. When my husband picked me up from the airport from my Germany trip, he asked me to move out. I moved out the next day. I've been thinking a lot about relationships lately, and where I went wrong. The advice I gave you reflects what I did wrong. It's been a difficult week for me. Expert 844 | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Sorry to hear that. I was there about three years ago. Everyone's situation is different, but after several bouts of counseling, I decided it was best for me and my children that I move on. I am better off for it, and so are the kids.....but that is just me. I know that the last thing you would want to hear right now is "It will get better", but It will...I am living proof. |

The advice I gave you reflects what I did wrong. It's been a difficult week for me. So sorry to hear this. I sincerely hope things work out for you, however they're meant to work out, whether its a reconciliation or going your separate ways and moving forward from there. Hugs
BTW, I have to second the whole counseling idea. Its unbelieveably hard work, but ultimately is worth it. Not only saved my marriage, but made it better than we ever could have done on our own. Also, like gator, have known people who did it, and came to the conclusion that separating was the best thing, and were able to do it more peacefully. |

Veteran 219 Russell, KS | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED so...to turn this BACK around to triathlons.. I haven't exercised for a month. I mean..other than walking everywhere when I was in Europe and moving boxes when I got back, I haven't hit the pool, run or cycled since. How do I get back into it. I'm concerned I might injure myself. Do I go at a mid level pace for a couple of weeks? Or just go back to my usual routine that I had before my tri? |

Expert 856 Pittsburgh | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Sorry about that news. For getting back into the training, I would take a week to two to ease back into it to build up. Do you have another race planned this fall? If so, then try to tailor the buildup into a training plan for that race. Your fitness should be good, so once you build up a little you'll be in good shape. On the other hand if you jump right in, you might injure yourself and that would set you back. Those pics in your blog were really cool. Loved the "bitte" story! |

Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Heather, I am sorry that you are having to go through this. As I confessed earlier this year in this very forum, I too went through exactly what you are going through. My training went to hell because my nerves were so messed up, I couldn't eat. I couldn't eat, which meant I couldn't train. I lost 12 lbs in two and a half weeks, which on my frame is A LOT of weight. But after all of that, we went our separate ways, and I had to learn to live on my own again. And you know what? I am okay... great, in fact. I have gotten to spend more time with my friends and got to make some new friends in the process. My time is mine now, and considering what little spare time I do have, my life has gotten much better. I am so much happier now than I was and that has made all the difference in the world. I feel like ME again! People are going to tell you that "it gets easier" and I know that you are an emotional mess right now. But you will be okay... you will definitely be a different person because of it, but that is okay too. Learn from it and don't allow yourself to make the same mistakes.... don't ever take for granted the people that care about you. That said, WE ALL care about you!!! And I know that you will be okay with time. Be strong and know that we are here for you when you need it. {{hugs}} You'll be okay. |

Veteran 219 Russell, KS | Subject: RE: triOK's Group - CLOSED Thank you for all the support. I think I am going to join up with a triathlon training group here in DFW. It's only $125/ year and I think training with people will build my social contacts so I'm not a hermit. Many of my friends are online as I am a computer geek, and hopefully having "friends in town will help me keep from getting depressed. I'm also going to get me and my dog back into agility for the same reason. And then I plan to take on contract projects and write a book with a local writers group. I don't want to spend lots of time feeling down. I really want to keep moving. Edited by grnidone 2007-10-01 4:12 PM |

I wanted to let you guys know I thought about all of you today when I was swimming. I stopped to catch my breath and Journey was blaring on the radio at the pool. "Don't Stop Believing..." I definately laughed outloud and thought of you guys right before I kicked my own butt and finished my workout! Just a small aside...are there off season training plans??? I need someone to tell me exactly what to do on each day...or else I don't do a whole lot! |

I know the song you sang to her that stole her heart. It is the same one you use to hum when we walked a beat together in the hood. Bryan Adams Baby! Look into my eyes - you will see |

I think I just had a good day. But I'm glad that it happenned because it puts me in a better mindset for my 2 big races coming up. Being confident that you can do something is SO huge in this sport. If you think you can do it, you're most of the way there. |
