Josh already answered for me, so you already know my race plans for the year.  BUT  I wanted to share that I'm back to three sport training!!  I did my first run tonight since I hurt my back.  I certainly took it easy, but I didn't walk, and didn't hurt myself, so those are both important things.  I'd also already done physical therapy and swimming today, so I guess it's not too shabby.  If I can keep it up from now until Nov. 6, I'll be all set!!

As you approach 30??   I should be living in a bubble then. jk

I'm glad you're starting to get your workouts in. Hopefully, you're healthy through the end of the year (well, and past that too).

Interesting fact of the day:  I was just talking to Josh last night how in general, I seem to get sick about once per year, but couldn't really pinpoint when.  Tonight, since we're doing the same HIM training plan as last year, I looked back to see how much I've improved (a TON on the swim in case you're curious).  My comment for this day last year was that I almost fell off my bike coughing yesterday, and that I couldn't run because I was still sick.  Now, isn't that just a little bit weird that I was sick and couldn't train last week, and low and behold, I was sick almost exactly the same time last year?  I find it a little freaky.  Interesting from an epidemiological perspective, I guess.

Obviously on the trainer.  Although it has yet to happen, I'm not sure that precludes me from falling off my bike.

Everyone all ready for our big snow?  I got permission proactively to work from home tomorrow.  :-)

I don't like to do long rides on the trainer.  I am also tired of the treadmill.  I guess this weekend we will all be stuck indoors.   I wish I could join the blizzard run near Baltimore.  Stay safe everyone in this big snow!!

Well I got 15 miles in, in the Poconos. :-)  Not as much snow there.  That rail trail always beats me up, every year.  I guess a gorge in the middle of February, probably does not always have ideal conditions.

After I sent that, I remembered that we did have a 70 degree day last February, didn't we?  I seem to remember something about that.  Oh yes, because people left the Poconos trip to go golfing in Maryland.

So how did everyone make out?  I saw Becky was watching Josh shovel snow, so she must've been doing a heavy workout indoors. :-)

So you Maryland folks are getting a true taste of winter...hehehe...welcome to my world!

I FINALLY committed to 2 April races. The Unite half marathon on the 18th and The Lincoln Tunnel 5K on the 25th. Already have butterflies thing about them!

Are you all doing the Frederick marathon/half? I would love to find a race this year you are all in so I can come down and do it...

Any advise for a hurt tail bone? OUCH! Don't ask...I am an idiot...

Looks like that half is at Rutgers, 2:41 hours from my house.

Wondering where the heck we're going to do our long run this weekend.  The running clubs are even staying away from Loch Raven Drive as their running route.  I might be doing 13 1.5 mile loops.

How is training going for everyone?  I see Steve's on Facebook, but haven't seen much from everyone else.  I did see a long run from Linda for Boston prep.  Go Linda!  I'm gimpy-er than before and headed to see an ortho specialist on 3/11.  Since I can't train as much, I spend my free time whining about it.  I can swim ok, biking is so-so and I'm cutting it until I feel better or go to the doc, and running is not possible.  Cross your fingers for a non-herniated disc!  I simple muscle issue has never sounded so good.

Bec!

My training is going ok.  My friend and I are gearing up for our Tobacco Road Marathon March 21st.  Our last long run is this weekend, we are going to do the Club Challenge and add on some extra miles to get 18-20.  My swimming is going well, about 2-3 times a week and I see to be getting faster.  I've been ignoring biking, which is bad.  But I just got into a spin class and I think that will make me a lot faster.

Let us know how the doc visit goes!  I pray it turns out ok and your season goes well!

Hello,

I just came across a pretty good article with a new swim drill that we all might like:

The Rollover Drill

This should help us with improving our arm/hand position for the best catch.  I hadn't seen this drill before.  I'm looking forward to trying it out tonight.

Did everyone see Linda's awesomeness over on the MD forum?!?  351 miles running in Feb, was it?  That is freakin' incredible.  You're going to rock Boston, Linda!  Great job!

When I see that she runs 90-120 minutes almost everyday I feel like a slacker.

That looks interesting. I know improving my technique will make me faster in the water. Swimming can be so aggrevating sometimes.

I agree with Steve that swimming can be aggrevating.  If I am relaxed, I enjoy my swim much more, but I am a little slower.  If I try to speed it up, I loose interest and motivation.

No I didn't see that.  That is pretty incredible.  No wonder she is going to Boston.  It is pretty clear that the road to Boston is built with lots of mileage.  Almost 90 miles a week, in a blizzard month.  I'll have to bring that up when I hear people whine about the weather conditions killing their training (and I will hear it :-)).

In light of a lot of noise on the other forums on this site, I'd like to thank Dave again for being a great mentor.  He's provided a consistent go-to source of information, at least for me, over the last year.  I know there are many people who are annoyed or discouraged by some of the sites goings-on, and this is understandable.  However, I've always felt that our group has been a great place to share information without fear of being criticized (unless you become a slacker, that gets some negative attentionWink).  Congrats to Dave for keeping such a positive environment!  I used my experience here to encourage someone who is knowledgeable but had backed away from commenting on the site to start a mentor group.  He genuinely thanked me for the suggestion because he wanted a way to help new people without getting caught up in the heated "debates" that often occur in the general tri thread.  Yeah for us for setting such a good example!

Dave, I agree with Becky that you deserve a big "thank you" for being a mentor here on BT. I have been in several groups the last 2 years and you are the best!!  Of course I knew, when I connected the "crazy fun pacer with the monkey" at my first marathon in Charm City to you here on the BT forum, that we are fortunate to receive metoring from you.

I agree with all of you.

I think I've said it before but I'll mention it again that I would never have completed my 50K last year without this group. Every time I was down about my training you guys encouraged me and kept me going until all of sudden it was race day and I made it through the training.

I would still love for all of us to get together for a race.
