Any REAL football fans here? (Page 37)

Just know that the quality of footy in the MLS is NOTHING like the European leagues.  Slower.  Sloppier.  But it does get a little bit better each year.

And you are joining up just in time.  Opening games are this weekend.  You might have to hunt around a bit to find out what channel they are on, but at least it is footy. 

And it is nice to see another 'Pool fan on here. 

So, I always knew that those who don't like (or don't understand) soccer are really quick to tell you so.  I found that out AGAIN in my Sounders/Galaxy thread!  Still can't figure out why some not-so-nice people feel the need to put the sport down again and again.

Which brings me to this much more friendly thread!  Thank you for being fellow fans.

So what did you guys think of the game?  I still think the Sounders look better, and if they can get a real goal-scorer, they'll go far. 

I don't watch a lot of European soccer.  Not because I don't want to, but because it's just not on a lot and I can't afford to pay for any soccer-specific channels.  I love the MLS just because it's a thriving league in such a small market, and I love seeing growing talent.  That being said, I'm still a Juve fan!

Like I said in the other thread. Seattle had the pace and appeared to be moving the ball quite well.  They have been a force since they entered the MLS and at this point, I don't see that changing.

As to Euro soccer, ESPN2 usually shows a match on Saturday mornings.  Also, check and see if FSC (Fox Soccer Channel) is part of a sports package.  It might not cost as much as you think. 

Thanks for actually giving CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts in that thread.  Apparently, I need to be a bit clearer in "soliciting" thoughts.  Whatever.

I watch the match usually on Saturdays, and Tuesday afternoons sometimes I get one.  FSC costs about an extra $15/month in our cable company, which is too much for us since we're living off just my hubby's income (darn law school).  HOWEVER, we're talking about switching to ATT U-Verse, and apparently FSC is part of their basic package.  I CAN'T WAIT!

Crowny - you're a Fire fan, I presume!?  I did an internship for them in the summer of 2008, and it was the best time ever!  I LOVED those guys.  They're my fave MLS team, but after they got rid of Busch, I was a little bitter. 

I love the Sounders because they seem to just have so much spirit, and who doesn't love that soccer audience?  But with hopes of moving to Portland in the near future, I have a feeling that I'll have to become more of a Timbers fan.  We'll see how they do this year first...

Yeah, I know Johnson is good, but I just had a huge attachment to Busch.  He was very relatable to me because I was turned away by a lot of places because I was too short to be a GK.  Just like him!  Best day ever for me was watching him and Howard go up against each other that season.  I was in goalkeeper heaven!  If only Buffon had been there...

I'm wondering how they'll do this year, too.  It'll be tough!
