Jay what division are you racing at the Carlsbad tri? I just realized I'll be in Del Mar for the week of that triathlon. I think I might sign up.

1k swim.  That scares me.

I noticed that. 1k swim is longer than usual for a sprint triathlon. I wouldn't worry about that though. You'll have the Encinitas Tri and plenty of practice time to get ready.

I was wondering if I should sign up for Elite of Adult. Then I saw the elite times and was humbled really quick. Needless to say, I will be signing up for the adult 35-39 division.

brick94513 - 2010-05-05 5:19 PM We haven't had a QOTD for a while! Let's take something from the article: QOTD: Who here keeps track of there resting heart rate (RHR) or their differential heart rate (DHR) over time?

i occasionally check my RHR, but not consistently enough to really track anything.  It's often in the 40's, which is quite a bit below the 60-70 I used to see before any excercise was being done.

Interestingly, I very often get light headed these days when standing up.  My blood pressure has always been fine, but I wonder if the lower resting HR is not quite catching up quick enough when I get up?  Sometimes it's bad enough to cause a short term tunnel vision thing, and I need to grab onto something to stay up...

Never checked my DHR, I'll start tracking that over the next few runs and see where I'm at right now.  Since almost all my runs are Zone 2, there should be some consistency in it.

I haven't checked either for a looooong time, but it's time to start

Jeeez, I don't know. Even the AG'ers were fast. I don't like to put that pressure on myself. I would rather make a personal goal to strive to hit. If it gets me to the podium then thats a bonus. With those distances, I would like to go sub 1:20.

Did you see that you have to pick your packet up on Saturday or pay an extra $25? If you want, we can get together on Saturday for a little swim and course preview.

'Sup boys. I just purchased an new Garmin Forerunner 305 and I was wondering if anyone here could give me detailed instructions on how to upload the data to my training logs here on BT? Like....remedial, detailed, step-by-step, instructions. I'm so technologically challenged....

Just heard from my ortho doc. I am going to have to have custom orthodics made for my shoes, and buy a different pair of running shoes. This all should cost about $400. Neato.

I use the Garmin Forerunner 305 too for running.  I really like it.  However, I don't usually upload the data from the watch to BT.  I don't like how the data is presented when you upload the information into your training log.  Instead, I keep my information in the Garmin Training Center and upload my bike rides to www.garminconnect.com.  I still enter my data manually into the training log.

For running, I like the auto lap feature.  I normally keep it set at 1 mile unless I'm doing shorter intervals.  With the auto lap, it will automatically store your information by what ever distance you have chosen.  I also like to use the lap pace to keep my consistent.  And, as all of you are aware, I use the HR setting.

I'll try to find you some concise instructions for uploading.

Been focused on work and family this week. Should be back to training in a day or two. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do to catch up on the list.

Damn you are fast!  No, I didn't look at the details much yet other than to mark it on my calendar as a training race mainly.  I'm definitely down to pick up the race pack Saturday and check out the course together.

Mark, is Carlsbad on your to-do list too?

Check your health insurance, you might not have to come out of pocket for the orthotics.  I have 2 pair, didn't pay a dime of the 7 hundred some odd dollars that it cost for the whole deal.

Haven't ever measured either.  However, have a new HRM waiting for me at home that I'll be playing with this weekend!!!

I didn't see it on Mark's calender.  I would hope so though; it's in his backyard.  Between the three of us, we could span the AGs

I was planning on Yoga and a swim today.  However, I apparently can't read a class schedule.  I missed the Yoga class, but I did get the swim done.  I had to cut it short though cause I had to get my oldest son to baseball practice.

life is getting us all around. I planned on a swim tonight again. The wife wanted to run and I hate having her run by herself outside at night. So I ran with her instead and she agreed to go to the pool with me tomorrow.

SWEET! Thanks, Jay! I didn't think of this, but my ortho doc DID email me a "prescription" to take to the orthodics guy.... I have BCBS insurance. Surely they'll pay...be a lifesaver if they did!

Again, thanks! Kiss

Tough day... Bike (w/ short brick) and tonight the Club Time Trial OWS.

I let myself down in the Time Trial.  I wanted to break 9 minutes but came in with a sluggish 9:39.  I needed to get a 9 or less to move up into the advanced group where I believe I can improve faster.  Oh' well... Next month.

Today on my ride my bottom bracket started to get sloppy around mile 14.  By mile 20 I had a tough time keeping a smooth cadence and by mile 24 it was junk.  My LBS rocks though and they have already installed a new BB and I pick her up in the morning.  The perils of riding an ol' used bike I guess...

Tomorrow I’m doing the Masters Swim followed by a very short dreadmill jaunt.  Saturday my youngest and I are doing a trail 5K at Poway Lake while wifey takes a yoga class and gets a massage (part of the Mothers Day agenda).

I unfortunately can’t do Carlsbad because I am in DC that week... If anything changes though I am definitely in though!
