tstl - 2010-11-17 3:56 PM Alex, I'm doing the Marquis on 4/10; it's a new one here in Phoenix. Perfect timing for me, since I like to train in the winter. We missed most of the fall season after accidentally draining our only lake- - oops! So several new races have been added for the spring. You should definitely consider doing a 1/2 - after marathon training, it'll be cinchy!

Hee! I haven't heard the word "cinchy" in ages-- LOVE it!

ROCK ON with the HIM in April! I'm thinking of doing Racine in July, since actually biking outdoors is highly improbable around here in the winter...but it _would_ let me put the maryathon training to good use afterwards...we'll see! Do you have a plan you're going to follow, or just be brilliant doing your own thing?

Hey everyone! I know I've been MIA. I'll get back to logging workouts next week - I swear We're getting back to normal after Rya's hospitalization and then traveling this weekend. I HAVE been working out though - just no time to log. Hope you're all well

Yea Marsha, good to hear from you.. I figured you were bogged down with life stuff!  Hope the kiddo is all better and life gets back to normal for you!  Wilson says he is starting body building after he finishes his P90X... he wants you and he to become Mr. and Mrs. Universe... he already picked out his bikini!!  He's been working on his tan down in his basement, unfortunately he hasn't figured out that flourescent lights do not have UV and therefore he is still lily white!!

Alex, I'm doing the free plan from BT, with some adjustments for travel, a 1/2 mary in January, and a metric century in March. It seems very reasonable, and not all that different from what I was already doing. It's a 20-week plan, so the timing would be good for you- yours would start towards the end of winter.

Will you be training with a group for the marathon? I just saw some pics from the L.A. marathon- it looks like a really cool course- you must be getting excited!

Thanks, Tammy! I'll definitely check that plan out! I'm training for the marathon solo, but will try to get together with friends for some of the runs if at all possible. I'm excited about the race-- it looks like a blast, going through and past some of the big landmarks and neighbourhoods of the city on the way to Santa Monica. Should be fun: it's right at the end of my March Break, too, so I can get down there a bit early and spend some time with friends beforehand. Getting on a plane the next day, however, might be a tad "interesting"... we'll see!

Alex, please wear compression socks on the plane. I worry about DVT when athletes travel after an event. If you get the geriatric kind instead of the athletic kind, they're not expensive. And have fun training!

No worries, Tammy-- was planning on doing exactly that (if I don't decide to wear compression TIGHTS on the flight back!). And so far, so good on the training-- how about you? Hope you're having a blast with the HIM coming up!

I'm always paying attention - even when you think I'm not?!?!?!  I'm just a little Biatch!!!  I'm okay with that..lmao

I'm the MMM lil Biatch!!

Man o Man.....I'm stuffed for the second time today...not good.  I can't resist smoked turkey, mashed taters with gravy and broccoli and cheese....mmmm  simple but so so good.  I also had 4 glasses of wine - and only napped a 1/2 hour....what's with that?  Kids are actually being good, wife isn't hating me....so life is grand....  If I were a dog - I'd be licking my balls..haha...lmao.

Oh Wilson, you crack me up!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I went into the day thinking I was strong enough to resist all of the bad-for-me temptations but...NOT! I pigged out and it was YUMMY! Was planning to go to the gym when it opened in the AM tomorrow but the forecast is for freezing rain I guess I'll put it off until later in the day as I don't have my snow tires on yet and the weather is supposed to clear later in the day. Putting it off to later puts me at greater risk for skipping it all together but I'd rather not risk the roads.

Hey, give yourself a break my friend...enjoy the pig-out and wish you were a dog..haha...You're right...better to be safe then sorry.  I hate winter...the thought of having to have snow tires is ugh....I sold my BMW M3 which required snow tires so...all the cars in my stable are okay for winter now.....sad old man cars, but fit for family purpose and boring..haha..

Hey, we gotta measure and settle up?   I'm ready to win big....or lose big....haha...either way - I'm okay.

... You mean P90YogaX or whatever it's called hasn't given you that much flexibility yet??

And happy to say, I don't even know what snow tires are! We haven't even needed to turn the heat on yet. Feel free to return my smugness when July rolls around.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

I guess that'd be da ding a ling!!  Speaking of animals.....Costco has the Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner on sale this morning...right at $200...I think I need to get me one....to better attend to all the shedding from our four legged friend Trevor.

Are the rest of you shopping your A$$ off today???  I may go out for a bit with the kiddos and wifey...we'll see.  I'm still full from yesterday...ugh....don't feel so well....way way too much gluttony

We have the Dyson DC14 vacuum and IT ROCKS! I am NOT crazy enough to get out and shop today - besides we got about 1/4 inch of ice on the roads so I'm not leaving the house at all until things get cleared off/melted. Someone get out the whip and make me go to the gym later...please! If I don't go first thing it is SO HARD for me to motivate to get there!

Off to do some on-line black Friday shopping for the kids - nothing better than shopping in my PJ's while I sip some peppermint mocha coffee

Excellent...I'm on my way to brush my teeth - thrown on a hat and call it shopping attire..haha..Enjoy your morning shopping in your PJ's....sounds good.  I was doing dishes this morning and cleaning up the rest of the kitchen and feeding the kids while the wifey was sound asleep...I think I got a few points for that....I may have to cash them in soon..haha....off to Costco!

I avoid shopping on Black Friday like the plague!!  We went out and had a sucky breakfast at Cracker Barrell and made our reservation for our annual family "Blow Your Own Ornament" festivities for next weekend (Wilson get your mind out of the gutter!).  I had hoped to start my Xmas decorating, but am all of sudden not feeling it... usually turns into an all-day ordeal, so I think I'll hit it early tomorrow morning.  It normally takes 3 days... one day to do the outside lights, one day to do the 12 foot tree, and another to do all the rest.  It is a Christmas paradise when I'm done, though!!  Could be in Southern Living fer sure!

Peppermint mocha coffee sounds DELISH!  And who vacuums?  ha ha!

Having a hard time getting motivated to decorate here, too. I spent my Black Friday morning on the bike- roads in my neighborhood were nice and quiet! Unfortunately, the only shopping I feel inspired to do is for myself! There's always something on my wishlist... Ya think if I leave the current issue of Triathlete laying around with the 'gift ideas' page dog-eared, my family would get the hint?

What's on all ya'll's (I'm from TX; I can say that) wish lists this year? I'm hoping Santa brings cold-weather cycling and running gear and (if he's feeling REALLY generous) a Garmin.
