It has been bothering me for awhile now, but the past few days it has gotten worse. I couldn't run last night. I got not quite a mile down the road and it was locked up so tight I could barely walk. My husband was on his way home, he stopped and picked me up. I rolled it on the foam roller last night, did some stretches, soaked in a hot bath for awhile. It is still really tight and sore this morning. I thought about bringing my hot pad into work and using it, but I didn't. I do have the heater under my desk running though. Right now my only plan is to finish in Pittsburgh, even if I have to walk it. After that I will reevaluate and take some time off if necessary. I don't care about Black Bear, my main goal for the season is the Marine Corps Marathon. I need to be healthy to start training for that in a few weeks. Any thoughts of seeing anyone about it? I don't know. I like my primary doctor, but I highly doubt she will have any good recommendations. She may refer me to a specialist but it could take forever to get in there. I'm not a fan of going to the doctor's. I usually only do it for illnesses or broken bones, not minor injuries. We need our house Doctor (Katy) to diagnose it for you! I don't know if I can wait until January for that. I was thinking about getting a massage. Not sure if this would help or hurt though. I am not a good stretcher, never have been. I was doing yoga, but I have been slacking lately. I need to start doing it again. If you have a good massage therapist, it will help. If it's a feel-good-day-at-the-spa type of massage it might feel good, but not really DO much for the injury, IMHO. Is this the same leg with the knee pain (from the doggy-induced wreck), or the other one? It is the other leg. The massage therapist at the Y does not do the feel-good-day-at-the-spa kind of massages. She does the you have kinks I'm going to get them out of here kind of massage. Last time she almost brought me to tears while she was working on my hamstrings, but when she was done they really felt good. |

Soon though. We also will need to get a head count so if we are going to get a house we know how many rooms we need. Ya, that and a price estimate per person. If I know I can start saving. X2. I will be there. (come hell or high water). Hubby, maybe...but I never know that until a few weeks before hand. I guess that means I have to play it like he'll be there, then go from there, right? That makes 1 room for Gouhlie Amy. Now I just have to go to work to earn some $$ for the trip. |

I have not disappeared and gone to the nether regions. Simply crazy at work. The Library is getting ready to change hours again this weekend. Back to 7 days a week, with some weird days (Wed 1-8 and Fri 10-3) thrown in there. So, getting the schedule set up, new staff being trained (1/3 of my staff is new to either the system or my branch) and throw in a Rotary conference, my life has been upsidedown! My son-in-law has deployed to Saudi Arabia, so my daughter is home alone with her four kids (ages 6,5,2 & 1) in California. Three thousand miles away from me so I don't feel like I'm much help to her at all. Aaarrrgh! Hey Kendra!!! I think the cure for all of the stress in your life is to go to San Diego in January and run a half marathon with us. Good mojo going out to your SIL and daughter! Yep, this is a fantastic idea! Hmmm, if you let me walk it I just might have to do this. You can walk. You can even just come and Sherpa. Or come and make sure I keep my clothes on, they fall off when I drink tequila and there will be a margarita drinking contest. Here's the link http://www.carlsbadmarathon.com/site5.aspx So it is actually the Carlsbad 1/2 mary, not San Diego. Isn't Carlsbad about an hour north of San Diego? We vacationed there about 10 years ago. |
