Curious how other TANners dealt with turning 40?  I guess if youre not there yet did turning 30 affect you?  I wasn't really bothered by 30, but 40 is a short 2 months away.  Although I am not neurotic about it or anything, I do find myself thinking about it.  Just curious what some other crazy people thought.

Not phased by 30 at all. I ran my first marathon on my 30th birthday so had something exciting to look forward to - it worked. It is what it is.

I keep telling myself that endurance athletes don't even seem to hit their peaks until well into their 30's soooo.  I really do believe age is just a number, and I always tell everyone it's not the age, it's the miles.  Problem is, I have lotsa miles too!  Not to mention that I am not really an endurance athlete!

Didn't phase me one bit. Now I am heading toward 50 and THAT is bothering me a lot. I don't know why either. Ii guess because it sounds old and I am feeling and looking older now too. I am a bit freaked. But I have a spectacular fitness goal for 50!!!!!

You can't be that close to 50.

I don't like people that aren't nice.

I have a HUGE project I'm working on.  I made a simple request to the fire department to take a cursory look at my land plan to see if anything jumps out at them as a concern.  Then I can adress it NOW, prior to Planning Commission approval.

I get a snide email back that I have been around long enough to now the process and procedures.  They review it later.  I know that, but just was asking for a simple favor.  What's wrong of them to taking a simple peak and me getting it done right from the start OR, they can review it later after a lot of work has been put in, and then they will have much more to review and if anything changes, everyone involved has a ton more rework.

Apparently, their 15 minutes of time is SOOOOOO valuable.  Much more valuable than mine.  Like they have TONS of project rolling through their office right now.

Sorry to rant.  It's just upsetting that some people are not willing to work with you, even when you are not asking for much.

1 year and 2 months. It's looming.

You're a mere child.  The next decade is not too bad either.  What's really cool is grandkids.  You've got 10-15 more years to go for that.

Hrumph, I think I know what you mean.  I guess I didn't feel much going from 39 to 40, but FIFTY???  I think I know how you feel.

It doesn't help when all I hear is 40 is too old for sports (professional).  They even say mid 40's is the upper limit for pro golf.  The oldest guy in the US Open was 53, and they were raving how great the "old guy" is doing keeping up with the young'ins.  It's GOLF for god's sake...  Not that demanding.

I have hope, my father still kills the golf ball, and plays pick up basketball with guys in their 20's and 30's.  So I have good athletic genes.

My goal for 50 may kill me.....and if I live I'll feel like a rock star! I am in a different shape than I was years ago but I am so much stronger and more in tune with what my body can do. I try to focus on that!

You could do 50 marathons in 50 days, but then you would just be a copy cat.

Yet, technically, it is called Mac & Cheese dinner. So, if I'm correct, it's a violation to eat anything else with it since it is 100% dinner.

I had the proverbial midlife crisis. I went with the sport bike option. There are probably few things more pathetic looking than an overweight 40 year old guy on a crotch rocket. From my vantage point I looked pretty cool though. I had always wanted one since they first came out when I was in high school. Better late than never. I was also single then too.
