NRG42 - 2013-03-12 10:34 PM Hi Tan.  I got a new man in my hopper.  Date 3 in the books!

Yee-haw, Cheri chapstick!

and harrooo, TAN.

I am so over due for a beach vactation!

Hi Yants, and the gang

See and I am way overdue for a vacation but the beach is about the last place I would want to be.

I know this is TAN, and no serious questions, blah blah blah..... but where do people who have the beaches want to vacation.  In the snowy cold mountains?  I know Florida is a serious plan for my wife and I to move to as we are wanting warmer weather and beaches and palm trees and etc...  But, when you already have the perfect life (Florida), what is a great vacation?

Ibiza, The Greek islands, St Johns....just to start the list.  AND bali (for Yants), Fuji, and Maldives

I understand Florida is not the perfect life.  It was meant in a semi-sarcastic tone, but I don't know the font for semi-sarcastic.  There are beaches everywhere that people want to go to, and I didn't mean for it to be taken as Florida is the only perfect life.  There are many great places in the world, but for the funds I have available, travel will basically be in the states.

People from the States go to Hawaii. People from Hawaii go to Bali. People from Bali go to the Gili Islands! (truly paradise--better beaches, deserted, clean, some of the best snorkeling/diving in the world, and NO MOTORIZED TRANSPORT). Tiny little islands--the largest is 9km circumference.

But I love love love loved Taupo and New Zealand, and the whole lake/mountains thing (even though I lived in the mountains for a year) was a new experience. I'm sold! I love places that have very appealing history/art/culture but may not be set in geographically awe-inspiring locations (I'm thinking Florence). But plenty of Italy is geographically awe-inspiring, too.

If you want to hit one of the best beaches in the US while you are here make the drive to Clearwater Beach.  Merritt Island area is also really nice but it is the Atlantic side so it is colder.

We did that the last time we were in Florida, when we stayed in Treasure Island.  Spent the overnight in Atlanta because of airline issues, so we slept in the airport and had a new family experience.  :-)  We went to Clearwater beach one day as my daughters wanted to go there, and then the next day we drove across the state to the ocean side to say we did both.

Not really. I have some serious kickazz PRs for a 3.8/160 and 3.8/175 aquabike, and a 3.8/180/32 triathlon.

I'm off on what might seem to be an odd jaunt, I'm visiting all my surviving aunts.  It is a 4 day road trip from Atlanta to Muscle Shoals and Florence to see two aunts, Jackson, TN and then Nashville.  The aunts are 83, 89, 93, and 93.  We visited with my favorite aunt last night.  She is very youthful in outlook and we laughed a lot.  It was good medicine.  More visiting today. I also get to see some caregiving cousins with whom I have been swapping moral support stories over the last few months.

See ya'll around.

Howdy TAN

and the countdown is?

A Popeye PR in PR!

No matter what happens, it's a PR and you're awesome.

Countdown is at 1 and a wakeup until I depart Cool

I should have taken tomorrow off work to finalilze packing, etc...   oh well.

"PR in PR" is kinda cool sounding.... as long as I finish, hehe.

Awesome I will be thinking of you on Sat.!

mehaner - 2013-03-12 9:34 AM this religion thread is giving me a bigger headache than most religion threads.  why do i keep returning?
I'll pray for you that you do not return to the thread.
I'll plan the covered dish dinner in the social hall. Who's bringing red jello or green bean casserole?

Oooh I have the red Jello!!  Jello shots are OK right?

Father D was pretty popped at our last Mardi Gras fundraiser. I don't think he drinks often, but he had a few that night.

Well I figure I just ordered 4 cases of 195 proof EtOH so I should be all set for a raucous time.

4 cases?   That's gonna leave a mark.

Not really. I have some serious kickazz PRs for a 3.8/160 and 3.8/175 aquabike, and a 3.8/180/32 triathlon.

Point taken

@Kate, race is Sunday.... and the "oversleeping for an IM" thread has me kinda petrified.
