I had a fun experience with a flat tire today.  It was about 5 degrees out and we were in the middle of a decent snowstorm so that was pretty cool.  I started to take the lug nuts off and my lug nut wrench cracked in 2 places.  Yes, it cracked and it was no surprise that the fine print on it said made in China.

So I started asking around for a wrench to borrow and I had a few offers, but apparently there must be two sizes of lug nuts (metric and english?) because neither of them worked.  I am fairly auto challenged but I thought a lug nut was a lug nut.  Apparently not.

Eventually I found out that we keep compressed air in maintenance so I got my tire filled, drove a few short miles to the tire place and had them take a look at.  The wait was an hour and a half so I walked home, waited, and found out I needed to buy a new tire.  Yay!!!  All sorts of fun

But I did manage to take out my frustrations by doing some pushups while I waited (score another one for the Toddies).

And I hopped on the trainer later.  I feel much better now

This made me think of A Christmas Story when they get the flat tire and Ralphie knocks the lug nuts into the snow.  "OHHHhhhh....FUDGE!"

Good stuff.

December Pick-A-Challenge UPDATE!

I've looked at the spreadsheets, and removed people who had "0" percentages. Usually, I try to hunt these people down and taser them, ask if they're still participating.... But, unfortunately, my life has just been too busy. So rather than taser, email or PM them, I just went ahead and removed their totals.... If they show up, they can still enter their progress towards their goals, and we'll just add their totals back in again. So here's what you've been waiting for, THE CURRENT TEAM STANDINGS 1st place: Random Taser me Elmo Cat Stalkers - 37.41% 2nd place: Holiday Knockers - 32.73% 3rd place: Hot Toddies - 31.92% But December isn't over yet! It's only the 14th, and you still have more than two weeks to go! So keep it up! - Dee

3rd, seriously.  I don't like 3rd.  I will lift more I promise

x2!  Unacceptable Toddies!  Let's kick it into high gear!  I'll swim up a storm this week.  I promise!

TOPPAGE!

You can blame it all on Kristin.

Afternoon all!!!

How's everyone today?  What's on tap for the day?

I'm hopeing latter today to do a core workout, but no run today, that would be tomorrow.

I made it up to 2 wk/ 28 run minutes yesterday and it felt good!  I'm so close I can't wait and I NEVER thought I would say anything like that ever.

Hi Mel!  Long time, no see!

I was going to go for a snow run today, but they're forcasting nasty weather for tomorrow so I might try to get to the gym for a swim instead (since my tri class swim on Thursday is already cancelled).  Might have to just settle for a tready run after that.

Glad to hear your running is progressing

Took a half day of work today. Just a couple of meetings which included donuts and holiday treats. (That's my type of work!)

Then I had a bit of time so I hit the Y for some swimming before I headed over to the new house for the inspection. NOthing majorly wrong. Good stuff!! I'm feeling at home there.

Okay, I just figured out that if I run nearly every available day, I can still make my goal. Who's cheering for me? I need some serious motivation, as I am completely lacking my own right now.

It's been pretty quiet on our thread the past few days.  I'm sure everyone else is just as busy huh?  Everyone almost ready for the big day?  One week!  Thanks goodness.  Bryan ordered my Christmas present last night.  I don't know why i didn't just go ahead and do it last week!  I had to direct him to the website, find what I wanted and tell him what size.  He did pick the color though.  At least I know I'll like what I am getting!  Bonus!

I'd love to see you do it, but just make sure you play it safe and listen to your body.  If it needs a day off, take a day off.  No sense getting hurt in the off season.

Yeah, and it'll probably only get quieter the closer we get to Christmas.  At the risk of sounding like a scrooge, I can't wait till the holidays are over.

Glad you were able to help your husband out with the gift.  Sometimes us men need a little, uh... direction

I'm cheering for you. Maybe we need to borrow Dee's taser.

don't worry about mileage. Get yer butt out there and just start to run. That's the hard part. Once you're there, you'll do more than you thought you would and then you'll feel great.

So, c'mon...DO IT!!!!!!

Afternoon toddies!!

Ooh I'm sore today.    A few good core workouts and a couple good runs two days in a row and my muscles are a singing.

I was fighting sore legs at the beginning of the week.  We went bowling last weekend.  Hadn't done that in ages.  Apparently I use my quads in a weird way when I bowl cause the next day they were sore.  It made me feel like a weenie.
