The FIST method is oldschool.  Check out the new method--it's called crapfits!

PeterAK - 2009-09-04 1:12 PM What are "crapfits"?
it "Depends" who you ask, but blue algae toxin apparently can cause some GI issues apparently.  If the blooms stick around maybe they can change it to the Immodium Swim instead of the Gatorade Swim?

LazyMarathoner - 2009-09-03 6:13 PM Walker boots are allowed! If it doesn't "propel you forward or injure other athletes" it's fair game. Just wanted to share in case anyone smashes a foot between now and next Sunday

Good to know...I seem to get ALL the injuries. The PF is coming back.  ugh, I am off to the ART guy for some pain.  Wish me luck.

If it's like that I may not do some pre-swims in the lake.  No sense risking GI distress until the big day.  I'll still show up at 8:00 on friday though.

They have free time and post IM depression to stave off.  You will get your turn in a little more than a week.

Another issue regarding the lake, and maybe this is stupid, or maybe it's just my luck, but a few weeks ago at the Open Water Swim I tore a huge chunk (at least the size of a pea) out of my big toe on a rock while climbing out of the water. 2nd time this has happened to me this year. It made my long run later that day pretty rough. I might be wearing swim socks because of it.

They'll have some covering over those entry rocks for easier mobility when you get in, which helps.  As you approach the finish, there will be volunteers helping you up and out the ascent, too.

That's what I've heard. The covering at the OWS was pretty tiny. I'm also not thrilled with treading water for 30 minutes, so might scoot to a spot where I can stand and wait for a while, so the swim socks might still come in handy.

I'm not so sure swim socks are legal.  I'm pretty sure they are not.  Might want to look into those first.

fyi....based on the past 3 years, about 500 other people will have this same exact idea and it gets too crowded along the shore...Mike Reilly will tell people to get in the water
