Now time to change and hit the bike for a while. I am tired - much prefer the nap but oh well And on the swim challenge I am 1000 yds from my biggest month ever so I am psyched about that number. I won't be catching Brick or Neal but as long as I get stronger that is key! That's great Bill! And you still have half the month to totally smash that total! |

Elite 3913 far northern CA | Subject: RE: T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - March Winds Challenge Finished the race! It was short. Only 9.42 miles rather than 10. I finished in 1:26:34. Not bad but not great. I think I got all buggered up about missing the loop through a sub division. I kept thinking that I needed to tell the race director to eliminate my time since I screwed up. Everyone missed it, though, so no big deal. The volunteers were not doing their job. More later. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - March Winds Challenge Sorry I've been gone for so long. My son is doing better now. He over did it at the gym and his muscles swelled up and went hard so we took him to the ER since that was the only place open at the time. They checked him into the hospital so they could watch him to make sure everything was ok. They were concerned about compartment syndrome, but it turned out not to be that bad. The official term for what he had is rhabdomyolysis. The muscle cells burst and the contents are released into the blood, which can cause problems with the heart and kidneys. We are all relaxing at home now trying to recover from the excitement. He has a followup with the doctor tomorrow and also the following Monday. He won't be going back to the gym for a while. |

Morning Bill......Did you bike commute today? Not today Dee - still a little damp and my legs are toast from the weekend. Tomorrow and Thursday is the plan again this week. How is the new bike going for you? I really enjoyed my ride on it Saturday. I tweaked the seat placement to more like the fitter's recommended measurement. Eventually I will take it back to the shop and maybe have a spacer taken out of the stem. It is a little disconcerting because I had my measurements done at one shop, but they didn't have anything in my price range, size, components. I found my bike at another shop. The bike geometry gels really well with the measurements and felt great when I rode it. It was also on sale, in stock and had even better components than I had wanted. However, I am not as confident in their fitting skills. They basically eyeballed it, and didn't suggest a more thorough fitting. Though they did say to bring it back for any adjustments I might want. The measurement shop doesn't carry this brand. Also both of these shops are about 1 1/2 hours away. There are two bike shops in my town, but neither carried a bike that quite fit me and had the components I wanted in my price range. Neither of the local shops are dealers for my bike (Trek). So I will ride it like it is for a while, and then see what I need to do. |

You will adjust and tinker for almost a year (at least I do - I just lowered all of my seats recently because they felt like they were too high after riding like that all last year ) Sounds like you found a great deal - that is good to know! Cool I have never seen a tri with a mtn bike division - that sounds like fun - guess I should do more tris huh? (Don't tell anyone I typed that ) LOL Blackmail time!! |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - March Winds Challenge Hey everyone. How's your Monday going? We took our son back to the doctor this morning. They are continuing with blood tests to make sure things are progressing as they should. Hopefully things will continue to progress so he can stay out of the hospital. Doctor's prescription: Drink 3+ gallons of water a day (to flush out the system), avoid protein (to ease pressure on kidneys), keep track of potty breaks (to make sure kidneys are still working ok), and NO exercise for probably the next couple of weeks until things are back to normal. Things are looking good overall. They expect things to continue to improve but he'll have to take it easy for a while. We had a little scare but everything should be fine. |
