Last long run before the race - took it easy and it felt easy - about 30 sec per mile slower than last week but I got it done. I told hubby there were no races today - it was all about getting to next week. Wha hhoo... and an extra benefit - headache is FINALLY gone. Good luck with your race this week. I originally had a marathon on the calendar for this weekend but alas, things did not work out. Maybe next year. Thanks - this is my first so I am nervous.. My sister was going to come run it with me and can't due to hip problems that she encountered when she started training. Like I told her - there is always next year - being healthy is MOST important. I made my goal for my first half mary to just run the whole thing. ( I did too), the second one I had torn hip flexors (see a trend here with me tearing muscles?) and just wanted to finish it......# 3 was a PR until I beat that time at #4.....I am sooooo close to my goal time (sub 2 hrs) but this years plan is currently be healthy enough to participate and not chase down the PR's. |

I want to know why Phil thinks the hunter training class I took 35+ years ago is insufficient for me to use a taser now? Instead of getting deer with a high-powered rifle, in the woods, you're using an electrical stream, not in the woods, and needing to run after me - times have changed and new lessons have been updated. |

My ultimate goal is just to finish and not kill myself. My parents paid for my double knee surgery in high school and when I started this training dad told me I was going to screw my knees up again. I told him I wouldn't. He was here last week and made a comment about me pacing on the 11 mile run I did. My mom told him that I knew what I had to do not to screw them up. Hubby told me at the 1/4 marathon I did this summer (it was HOT) that crossing the finish line on a stretcher didn't count so I am keeping that mantra for this one as well (even though it is not HOT). Beating 2:30 would just be a bonus - I am quite a bit away from sub 2. |

Feeling a little better so I'm hoping to make it to yoga tonight and get in some strength training. Haven't checked the spreadsheet recently but I know I'm on target with my run goal and strength goal. I may need to adjust the jump rope goal after this week I'll see how the calf feels, it's been a little cranky this past week and I don't want to aggravate it. |

I mean you create Microsoft office that compatible with Mac but then don't give me anything I need in Excel for school so I'm forced to put Windows on my Mac. And when I do it's slow and kicks me off the internet and is constantly downloading updates and telling me to restart my computer to finish installing the updates or bringing up that little box at the corner of my screen with a countdown to when it's going to restart. Seriously you're only making me hate windows and microsoft more by doing this to me!!! So glad I only have to deal with this until I finish these charts and stuff for work then I can go back to my mac side that cooperates with me.... speak of the devil the stupid restarting in 15 minutes countdown box just popped up again!! |

If anyone's done one I'd love to hear stories about it. Back in H.S. when I ran x-country, there were a few races that were quite muddy, and those were fun. I did a trail marathon last Spring ('09) that had the middle 6 miles on a wooded trail - it was late April here in WI and the trail was getting muddy, but nothing too bad. It was one of the hardest runs I've ever done. If it's a short race (5K - 10K), I'm thinking it'll be fun to do. |

It's 4 miles I think maybe a little less. it's got military inspired obstacles and stuff you have to go through like climbing walls, tire run etc. Looks like a lot of fun. The boys are already talking trash about how they are gonna beat us with ease but I think it's going to be a pretty even race. The girls definitely run a lot more, in fact my bf is the only one who runs regularly while I have one roommate in ROTC who does PT 5 times a week, one who is looking at doing a half marathon in the spring, and the other tries to run semi regularly so I think we've definitely got them beat there but the obstacles may be a little harder for us. here's a link if anyone wants to see what its all about... http://t4tchallengerun.com/ |
