I'm not so sure swim socks are legal.  I'm pretty sure they are not.  Might want to look into those first.

I was thinking about wearing them for High Cliff and emailed USAT. They are USAT legal now (weren't last year), but individual race directors were allowed to say "no", or something like that. Might just skip it. No need for the hassle.

Maybe hit with too many people with algae and snake concerns?!?Cool

I'm going to do a spin on my son's bike, using my tennies.  Since my bike and my shoes are on a truck to WI.  Lovely.

I'm also not thrilled with treading water for 30 minutes, so might scoot to a spot where I can stand and wait for a while, so the swim socks might still come in handy.

fyi....based on the past 3 years, about 500 other people will have this same exact idea and it gets too crowded along the shore...Mike Reilly will tell people to get in the water

I agree with Birkieman, besides your wet suit will float you effortlessly on your back!

Hey prospective Ironman Wisconsin Finishers!!!  I did this event in 07 and it was very well done.  The concern about the rock on the exit.  No problem.  There is a rubber mat at the finish, and people do hoist you out to land.
As far as the start.  Just get in the water, you'll be glad you did.  The time in the water goes fast, and with a wetsuit, it is no big deal.  You hardly use any energy while waiting.
Have a great race!
We lucked out at Ironman Louisville with great weather and it looks like you will have good weather too.  Go for it!!!
Peace,
~Sam

So I did my stupid taper behavior of the season.  I was pounding some nails in and hit my thumb dead on on the nail.  Nice and black and blue, swollen and throbbing.  So much for finding a "safe" taper project to do.

Good to know...I seem to get ALL the injuries. The PF is coming back.  ugh, I am off to the ART guy for some pain.  Wish me luck.

Do you want to meet me in T2, with a flask of bourbon and we can boot up and walk a long, painful, pathetic marathon together??? Could be fun!

If it's like that I may not do some pre-swims in the lake.  No sense risking GI distress until the big day.  I'll still show up at 8:00 on friday though.

I swam in major pea soup in Monona, actually the beach was closed and I was am out of town moron and didn't know. And it didn't give me the crapfits, but my throat was on fire for days. The good news is that it doesn't hit until several hours later. Since I'm a big fat DNF I can even get the crapfits and be fine Yummy. Bring it on.

I dropped my bike off for Tribike Transport shipping today on crutches with my friend Debbie carrying my gear bag and pushing the bike. The guys at the shop were a little perplexed, I think they thought I was insane. It could have been one of the most depressing moments of my life but my friend made it easy. We spent 12 hours together eating, shopping, picking up my walker boot, drinking, eating and drinking some more. Not having to train is certainly giving me more free time See you all in Madtown. I'm arriving Tuesday and expect to be entertained

Bad juju? I think a big benefit of having an almost certain DNF coming my way is that I can forget all the pre-race superstition and go hog wild at the expo buying IMWI gear. It's not like it's going to bring even further bad luck right?

Went downtown to the Taste of Madison and we walked down to take a look at the lake.

Very weedy but thanks to a little wind today it definitely looks better.  The water is still pretty green but no blue green algae blooms that I could see.

Let's say the weather forecast stays what it says right now...68 and showers. What do you wear? I have been planning to wear my tri shorts and top. Would you just add arm warmers for the bike and possibly a jacket for the run...maybe a jacket for both? What about a long sleeved Under Armour under the tri top...would that be okay under the wetsuit? 68 really isn't that cool...but with rain...it is such a long time to be wet and cool.

I know the forecast can/will change but it is at least a possibility I need to prepare for.
