Just finished my season on Sunday with 2nd in my age! First time I have gotten hardware! I want to do a 1/2 mary the beginning of November so this run challenge will do me good! Need to still figure out my goal. Will look at the training plans here or if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! The longest I have ever run was a 10 mile but that was in June. I have only been doing 5k's since then. So I need to start from there. I am also a fitness instructor at the Y and need to adjust my workouts for when I teach a lot of classes. Kim, congrats on the AG hardware!!!! x2~ also kim there is a program I followed called Hal Higden...wanna join us hals gals? he makes it simple to train...just follow his daily program...if you are too late just count backwards from the day of the race and see where you should be.... http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/index.htm and my sister who is a marathon runners SWEARS by the run 5min walk 1..run 5 min walk 1...for the entire race...says she totally beats her times of trying to run the whole thing!?! I have trained to run it...so I personally am goint to try and run the entire race!? hoping no walky for me! I am a big fan of the Hal Higdon plans. I'm on week 5 of the Novice Half Marathon plan. Am running the Philadelphia Half in November. so we have lots of hals gals on this team... Here is a big ol' HIP HIP for hals gals!!!!! Me too! I am using the novice HM plan! KATIE. YOU A HAL'S GAL TOO. WOOOOHOOOO! stacieb Yep...so I definately think we should have that cabin Hals gals weekend! BTW GREAT JOB on the 10 miler! I'M IN. JULES, YOU COMIN'?? any of the other GHOULIE LADIES want to join us? get a-packing cuz its a HALS GALS/BT CHICKSTER WEEKEND. ill bring the wine and the buffalo chicken dip!!! WOOOOT! stacieb Can I come too??? Love girls weekends! I'll bring "Hals Gals" t-shirts. Technical and womens sizes, of course. I'm doing the Hal's novice HM plan, and I have wine, can I come, too? all you had to say was the word wine....that is the magic word!!!! You are soooooo IN!!!! Ok I am going to become a Hal's Gal just to come! I am more of a Jack Daniels girl.....yes both oh sista...you need not join! you are always in...and as you know after all the invites to come hang out....you are always welcome...and you remember we do have an extra guest bedroom with nice comfy king bed with its own door so you can come and go as you please....and I will even throw in the use of my car while here! you just have to fly here...oh most important if you come before the end of this month...we can get my brother to cook for us! so all we have to do is drink wine...and more wine....then we can end the evening around the fire pit with a little high end tequilla and with ol' Jack! you know Daniels! |

Same town we are in now, but bigger and some nice amenities like running water in the winter (don't ask) and closets. I love getting another house but hate the process of buying it. Stress and aggravation. Looks like I'll be relying on BT and training for sanity again. gooood luck! so when will you know something? |

That's awesome! As a former band geek, that's a really cool story. hey you just never know when you may be approached.... she also helped her sister manage the building that still stands at the end of wrigley field....they used to complain about all the players from the other teams who would stay there and would cause a ruckus...she got some of the most amazing autographs from players and whole teams...I found these recently when my mom and I were going thru some photos of hers....truly impressive some were photos of the entire team and most had signed it! told mom she hit the jackpot...some collector will be dying to have them! |

Woooo...my right side under my ribs was hurting though...kinda cramping but kind of not cramping...I don't know...it was weird...so I basically spent my run yesterday trying to decide what it was and today convincing myself that I a) dont have an enlarged liver (ps...i learned how to feel my liver today...yaaaaaa!), and b) that it is just some sort of weird stitch and probably due to the fact that I was sick for awhile and hadn't really been running too much...

I have been trying to find a fall race that I can do that is longer then 8K...So there is a 10K on 11/22 but I also wanted to run an 8K on 11/26...Is that too much in 4 days? just dont go all out and I think its fine.....plus depends on your training...which I dont know yet...do you run quite a bit and are those distances comfortable...and you arent planning on going out and breaking records are you?? |

Katie, I don't think it is too much - 6 miler and a 4+ miler doesn't seem too bad to me but I am weird when it comes to distance. You could use the 10K as an easy run and race the 8K or do the 10K as a race and recover with the 8K (Turkey Trot I assume so if it is like buffalo and real crowded you cannot do a fast time anyways and just have fun withe festivities) Especially since it is over 1 month away. Build up to the 10K if you need to and then have fun. So after all that - I say go for it. But I am not a trainer and I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night either Bill gives some good advice. Do you have to sign up in advance? If not you can run the 10k and then see how you feel in the days afterward before making a decision on the 8k. Me, I'd do it, but then I have been known to run races on consecutive days. |
