kcarroll - 2009-10-29 7:49 AM I swam this morning and hopped on the treadmill afterwards.  Not good.  Couldn't run at all.  Very frustrating.  I'm going to look up Dee's instructions for adjusting goal due to injury.  No point in penalizing the team because my patella refuses to stay on track.

Ow!  Sorry to hear your knee is not cooperating

skrtrnr - 2009-10-28 7:13 PM and im going bonkers trying to stop on top of them and all their work.

I was like that with mine and then I realized that the heck with that - if they flunk and have to do summer school then they will pay me gas money to get them there and home and the others will take a vacation without them.

It seems to have worked.

Last year I received an e-mail from her teacher telling me how she was missing some stuff.  I told the teacher I would mention it to my daughter but I was not going to follow up anymore besides that and give her the grade that she deserves.  She got a lower grade and learned a valuable lesson.  I think I graduated so homework is not for me Cool

oh man.

that's really intelligent parenting.

i may have to give that a whirl.

i am amazed at how much is 'put on' us parents...i mean im all about giving my kid the space and making sure they take the time to get their homework done, but really am i responsible for them walking the paper into class and handing it in too??  honestly....

and another thing, that just GRIPES me...

last year my son kept 'forgetting' to hand in his spelling homework.  you know. its a weekly assignment.  how hard is it to 'forget'

the rule was if the kids didnt hand in their homework they'd get a 0 on the assignment.  no partial credit.

so i get this email from his language arts teacher telling me that i need to help my son finish his spelling homework, that she was giving him the weekend to finish it so that he could get partial credit.

and i was like, uhm, wasnt the RULE that if you didnt turn in your homework you got a 0 for the assignment, that no extra days were given to complete the assignment, and that there was no partial credit...AND i typed, i actually FULLY SUPPORT THIS POLICY and would like for you to adhere to it, even if that means that my son gets a lower grade.

i think i shocked the pants off the woman, she was like uh, OK, that's how we'll handle it.

how do they expect kids to learn to be responsible??

geesh.

its NOT rocket science!

GHOULIE QUESTION:

ARE YOU AN ORGANIZED OR AN ORGANIZATIONALLY CHALLENGED PERSON?

Organized and the only one in our house.

I get re-organization duty with all the clothes/drawers because I am the only one that knows which 2 socks match Yell

OHHHHHH

MYYYYYY

GOOOOOOOOOSHHHHHHHH.

MEEEEEEEEEE TOOOOOOOOOOO.

drives me completely bonkers.

completely bonkers.

Yell xs a gazillion.

OI OI OI OI OI.

its gonna be the death of me, im sure of it.  that the kids homework.....LOL.

hmmmm.

maybe their so 'bad' at it cuz im so 'good' at it ie i organize everyone all the time.

ok.  its official.  starting today.

IM GOING ON STRIKE.

IM OFFICIALLY NOT THE HOUSEHOLD ORGANIZER anymore.

and the house will descend into complete CHAOS (cuz they dont 'mind' the disorganization) and will have to FIND ME A RUBBER ROOM just to have an alternative place to live.

OI ME!

disturbed275 - 2009-10-28 6:43 PM Hi Tom!  Did you survive the commute home?

Yup. And I made it home just in time to deal with a clogged/overflowing toilet, cat poop on the floor, and the realization that I'd bought too much food since our youngest is eating dinner with a friend tonight. Good times...

dont you just love days that 'end' like that.

dog barf is even better.  wait.  kid barf.  that takes the cake.

warms the cockles of your heart, doesnt it?

[did i spell cockles right, probably not i dont want chk the spelling]

glad you got home safe and sound.

what kind of food did you have too much of?  you could share, you know.

theres always a hungry GHOULIE around in the VILLAGE, or two, or three.  oh hell what im saying were ALL hungry ALL the time.

especially me.  all ive been eating is a bunch of PALEO NOTHING, nuts and berries and fruits and veggies and....

so whats for dinner??

wgraves7582 - 2009-10-29 8:58 AM Morning Kim and Kim

Recap on page 43 or 44 or 45 possibly

Kim - sorry about the patella.  Take it easy and rest it.  This is the advice I do not follow (Hello blue emoticon) Cool

Rest is just so darn hard!  I'm starting to worry I won't be able to run my half mary the end of November.   Very frustrating.  The disdain challenge will help because I really need to do more strength work. Stronger legs help keep the patella from getting off track.

Some kids never learn.  My son flunked every semester of High School english that required a term paper.  Even when I managed to get him to do the paper, he would turn it in so late that it would already be a failing grade.  So after 3 summers of english in summer school, we finally got the paper turned in his Sr. year with enough time that he did not fail.  Drove me crazy.
