7.75 km run for me tonight (just short of 5miles).  I ran 4 on my own, 3 with the fast dog (but it was a bit warm for her, so we took several walk breaks), and .75 with the slow dog.  It wasn't my fastest run, but I loved getting out with the pups.  The weather was also warm for the first time in ages, so it was good to start re-finding the warm weather running rhythm.

I was supposed to swim tonight, too, but got lazy.. Embarassed Reading all your swim workouts is a good motivator, though (except maybe yours, Brian - ew. What do they do to "disinfect" the pool?) - next planned swim is Sunday and (since it's a long weekend) I have no excuses to miss it..

peterssonb - 2011-05-19 4:08 PM3000 yard swim turned into 1750.  When I got to the pool, it was being disinfected from a kid's lack of diaper.  Time was limited because of having to pick up family from airport.  Oh well, got in as much as possible.  Now a nice day off tomorrow, then riding 80 miles on the IM Lou course.  Looking forward to getting a preview of the hills
..........Are you doing a structured ride or just for fun? Im bored this weekend when you riding and what kind of pace? Are you riding from the boat house & doing 1 lap

Official time on Tuesday Time Trial was 21.45 mph average over 12.5 miles.  That was with 15 to 20 seconds lost trying to clip in.  I did 300 watts, which is 98% FTP.  Felt good about that all considering it was the first time the TT bike was out of the basement.

Feel better.

No I don't get migraines much anymore...used to at 400 pounds.  I figure it was a food allergy.  Not much any more.

My buddy and I will get there around 8-8:30.  Start of ride is 9:00.  Start and finish are at the Yellow Lot across from Tumbleweeds restaurant.  As for pace, I am usually in the mid 17 range for that distance.  But, I am sure there will be faster and slower if you wantWink

I hope to see you there.  Would certainly like to have company for some of the hills.

Good Morning Again.

OK Kevin - lets clear this up right now LOL Smile  I have been sitting at my front window waiting for the fog to lift with my running gear on since 6:30 Wink.

I am a Golf Pro for crying out loud - I have been getting up before the sun gets up for over 30 years now. I would not know what to do to sleep in. Now, I will take the occasional afternoon nap which I love Smile.

On a serious note - have a great race this weekend Kev. I can't wait until I can get my first one under my belt. I am looking forward to the learning experience. As lame as this sounds, I even have a count down clock on my desktop for it LOL.

Anyone else racing this weekend?

Coach - I guess you have decided to go for a bike instead of swimming across Lake Erie?

Have a great day everyone.

KC

I rode that 2 times in the past and Bob (I think thats his name) is just the nicest guy ever.  Everyone chips in some money and he provides sag for the entire group.    The guy is the nicest giant every (about 6-5 I think a penn state lacross player)  If I can convince my wife to drive down tonight I will be there, its about 5 hrs so I would have to high tail it right after work.  Either way be safe and I will try my best.  Hit the out and back twice to work those legs!!

Good call on not running on the roads, I have a park that I can run at night or in crappy weather that has a 6 mile loop I hit on those days.  Have ran there at 11pm before.

I love races on Sat, they don't ruin your entire weekend.  Have you went through your list of everything you need for Sat?  You will do great!

I would love to do the bike with Brian, just short notice to head down and get a good ride in.  Are you still doing your swim on Sat?  What day is your race on next week since is Memorial day weekend?

Did OWS number 2 today.  I did alot better than last time.  Less doggy paddling and better forward motion.  Just need to keep plugging away at it.  Going again Monday.

Coach - Yes I am doing the lake swim on Saturday (tomorrow) at my sister's cottage on Lake Erie. Not sure how far I am going to swim but I want to get in there and get a feel for what it is like with my wet suit on etc. I am sure it will be a bit chilly but I am looking foward to it. Any hints or tips for tomorrow? My race is Sunday June 5, Belle River Ontario, two weeks from this Sunday.

I just got back from my run. I let the fog lift a little so it turned out ok except for one lady almost backing into me coming out of her driveway - oh well - no harm, no foul. I did 10.5K. The new running shoes are starting to feel pretty good. The time was slow (my average) but I enjoyed it. That is all the training I have on my schedule for today and looking forward to a nice round of golf this afternoon with some friends.

Keith - nice job on the OWS. I will let you know how mine goes.

Have a great day everyone.

KC

As for wearing clothes to the race.  I once saw a man, 50ish, actually try to change clothes in the transition using a towl to cover himself.  It did not work.  There were teenaged kids in that race.  If he had done that on the street he would have been arrested. I could not believe it.

I wear my tri top and shorts with sweat pants and a hoodie.  Important to warm the core and keep it war, I wear my tri suit under the wet suit.  They dry really quick as a matter of fact.  Just pull off the wetsuit, put on helmet, shoes and sunglasses and grab the bike.

Congrats on a better OWS.  It does get easier with practice.

Sorry I thought I said it before: Guy that got me into the sport always says when struggling just keep moving or

Relentless Forward Progress.

As long as your moving forward your closer to the finish.

KC, I'm not sure about the new Gatorade, but the event I was at gave out the Powerbar Blocks for energy.  Yummy and easy to swallow during the race.  I tried eating a Clif Bar before the bike, but I spit it out a quarter of a mile in.  I just wasn't able to chew and swallow that thing while on the bike.  I tried the Gu too during the race.  It was really sticky.  I didn't think it was easy to swallow while running.  But two thumbs up for the Powerbar Blocks.

Keith, good stuff on the OWS!!

hey guys - just checking in - I am still alive.  Sick but alive.  I ended up getting a really bad head cold that has turned into a sinus infection for the past two weeks.  I have my first race of season tomorrow so we will see how it goes. Looking to beat my time ffrom last year.

Hope all is well with everyone - when I get some time I will try to catch up.

I used their Prime for my marathon training and liekd it.  I also only train with Gatorade Endurance.  I did use the Recover after the marathon but took it too late to make a difference.  I buy my Gatorade Endurance formula at Dick's Sporting Goods or Amazon. You can get the Prime and Recover at any gas station or walgreens or anywhere that sells Gatorade.

Good luck Tim

A good tasting high energy food is the gu chomps.  They go down pretty easy for me.

KC the gatorade is ok (usually running stores have it in concentrate).  It seems like alot of the local races use Hammer as its cheaper and they give them discounts.  I personally dislike all hammer products (others love it) as their gu stuff is nasty and their "gatorade" isnt much better. lol

Good Morning Team.

Good Luck to everyone competing today.

I am off to help with some Junior Golf clinics, then out to the lake for a OWS. I know it is going to be cold but I have to get in there for a little while at least.

Have a great day everyone.
