I really respect that, a lot of people preach, from all different faiths, a lot of good stuff and then when it comes to putting your money where your mouth is, not so much of the preaching is followed through on. Thank you for that! and being a true neighbor in the global community. |

Extreme Veteran 1648 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Okay- I've been totally slacking. Anyone ever feel like life is just conspiring against your workouts? I went on a vacation that should have had a ton of workouts- but my husband crashed his dirt bike and broke his hand and I just got stressed out and couldn't find the energy. He had surgery and is doing great- but his dominant hand is out of commission for 6 weeks which creates it's own challenges. Anyone got tips on getting back on the horse? |

Post what you are going to do daily...report in and prepare to be forced to drink warm coors light if you do not do your workout...also...sign up for an Oly in August. Short enough, you can train for it, long enough to make you suffer if you do not train. As a side note with your husband in the injury reserved list, you should have more time to train... |

Obviously you guys are staying busy. All the best in training, Hey everyone - our group just got a little better - Dr. Bobby is back! It's time for you to park your truck and grab your bike. That Oly is going to be here before you know it. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, have you had any Founders beer I was telling you about in the spring. I'm going to make a pilgrimage to the brewery sometimes this month. Its a 6 hour round trip ride - but the beer is so good it will be worth it! |

Kate: I agree with Thor and I'm going to give you a warm Coors Light penalty if you don't sign up for that OLY by Sunday - I've got a can that's been sitting in my trunk for a while. Make it happen Seriously - and more importantly, I wish your hubby a quick recovery! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Hi All: A couple of things... - How are you doing with the Eating Under Your Limit challenge? Vacation is killing me but I have managed to keep my calories under my limit for 13 out of 18 days. I think my goal was 23 so I still make it if I buckle down. With my weight creeping towards the 200's (I weighed myself this afternoon and hit 196 - the heaviest I've been in a year) - I'm gonna do everything I can to avoid a self-imposed Coors Light Penalty. Speaking of which - I signed up for Fruit and Veggie Time Challenge on Loseit. The challenge lasts from now until the beginning of the month. Hopefully eating a little better will move me further away from the two hundreds. Feel free to join me... I'd love to have the accountability. I've had a good week of training and have completed my longest run and ride of the season... but I'm starting to feel the training in my hips, knees and feet. It's time to grab the roller and the golfball to help me dodge problems with my ITB and plantar fasciitis. I had planned on going for a recovery ride tomorrow but may skip it to stay off the DL. Finally - it's Thursday. How is everyone doing with their goals? |

Expert 925 Timmins, ON. Canada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Thor- it is a chariot! Thankfully we got it used (still 400 bucks!) but it is so light and rolls so great over everything with those big tires. My wife and I have been saying we need a leash system for the chariot to because if you let go of it for a second while running or on any kind of incline it accelerates away from you, and that is scary! David- I am going to get on Loseit by the end of the week because it is one of my goals. I need it badly, I am tired of always being the big guy at get togethers, work... etc. |

Expert 925 Timmins, ON. Canada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Just bought a used thule car rack system and a Yakima 91in cargo box tonight to carry all of our baby paraphernalia. The car was just too full on the last trip home to the east coast. Got a really great deal on it, but we still may need to buy different attachment feet to fit our vehicles. We shall see, but that will be more money out the door. It seems like we are just hemorrhaging money since our daughter. Now don't get me wrong, I would give all my worldy possessions away and burn my money if it made her happy, but wow being parents is expensive. My new road bike budget is slowly being eroded by onsies and diapers. |

New road bike...they have some smokin' deals on some Trek Madone 3.1's. A friend just picked one up for $1649, full carbon with shimano 105 components. You really don't need 2 kidneys... |

Steve: I feel your pain Luckily - you can beat PF by taking time. I used to think that my plantar fasciitis would never go away but thanks to everything I learned last year from the members of this group - I know both you and I can beat it. He's what I would suggest: 1) Stretching - There are two types of stretches. Ones that stretch the Achilles and the entire leg/foot and those that just stretch the PF. Check on this website for a variety of stretches. I tried to stretch my achilles everyday once I warmed up. Here is a great website. http://www.heel-that-pain.com/heel_pain/stretch_exercise.php?gclid=... Here is a good link on how to stretch just the fascia - I did this three times a day http://sportsmedicine.about.com/b/2007/01/05/new-stretch-decreases-... 2) Breaking up the fascia. I found that a golfball worked best. Phase 1 should be to roll it along the bottons of your feet 2x when you get out of bed in the morning and before bed at night. (You can also do it after working out). In my opinion - you can't do it too much. Really press. If it hurts, - the golf ball is doing its job. If it is excrusiating - you're doing it to hard. After a week, move on to phase two - and stand up when doing this. 3) Strengthen the foot. The towel method (see first stretching link) is great. But I LOVE using marbles or stone to really strengthen the feet. Here is a video which I think is from one of the links above http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwbXQ1rTq4o 4) Ice, Ice, Ice - At least three times a day. You simply can't ice enough. However as a beer drinker - try this - roll your foot with a bottle of cold beer when watching TV, Once youve rolled for 5 minutes each - crac open and reward yourself. (I found that sticking it in the freezer 20 minutes helps the icing and ensures a cold beverage when you drink it). Sorry for the long email. I've learned a lot from fighting my own battles. I've got more if this doesn't work. Good luck! |

My new road bike budget is slowly being eroded by onsies and diapers. Can totally relate to child expenses. Getting them out of diapers and off formula is like getting a raise and hitting the lottery! We've done that and are on to time savers like tying shoes and brushing teeth. Though these things make life easier, I sure do miss those early years. Enjoy them! |

Got sent to 3 departments during the whole ordeal and ended back at the first place I started. Problem 2 - Get home to find the air is broken and it's Africa hot here. Solution - Head out for a nice and easy peaceful run and finish without a care in the world. I have found my stress relief in training! <--rant over I hope everyone is having a great day and getting your workouts in |
