Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hey kids, Don't even know if Terri can report in, but she's the one really affected by the fires. Looks like she has 12 miles left ... I'm happy to pick up 6 of those, and if some of you can kick in for an extra mile or two, that'd work. |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hey Bumpers ... Sorry for being so quiet. I've had several crazy busy days of training with a weekend trip out of town thrown in the middle. I should be able to pick up a couple of miles for Terri, too. I hope to get back to the gym tomorrow. I've got some evacuees at my place right now. They were hoping to head home today, but there's still no power at their house so I'm trying to convince them to stay another night. I got a voicemail from Terri earlier today. They're still at home, but still on evacuation standby. Edited by BunnyB 2007-10-24 8:17 PM |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hi team, I'm gonna get a few more miles in tomorow sometime (after swimming , core class and lifting???) Planning a long run on Saturday. It's finally raining here (drought since early August). If I miss toorrow's run I'll definitely get my last bit in for the challenge next week but I'm just not sure I could commit more than an extra mile to Terri at this point--however every little bit helps and our team is so cool that we'd ALL do it for one another... |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I just got another update from Terri. They are doing OK and still haven't had to evac. They are having a lot of brownouts though, so she's staying off the computer as much as possible. She said she had looked into going to the gym on base today to use the treadmill since the air quality is so bad, but it's currently being used for an evac center. She also checked into going to the local mall, but it was also closed because it's being used as an evac center for folks from Solana Beach. I was so impressed that with everything they are dealing with that she was thinking about her running!! I did let her know that some of us had already agreed to help pick up part of her mileage. |

So far Yanti has 6, I have 2, and Judi possibly has 1. That's 8 or 9 out of 12. Edited by wurkit_gurl 2007-10-24 9:02 PM |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Since technically I have no commitment, I'm happy to sub in for Terri while she's dealing with the fires and pick up all her mileage in her absence. The air is not so bad where I am. |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hey all
Just popping in to say hello. I am REALLY busy here today, so I won't be on much. Just wanted to recap, since we are filling in for Terri's 12: Yanti has 6 (total of 106) I have 2 Bunny has 2 (total of 22) Judi has 1 (yes? please confirm if you can add the 1) (Total of 51) That leaves 1 mile. I will take the last mile, making my total 53. I think we're covered, then. Gail you can continue to be our cheerleader and I will bump everyone's total accordingly. |

Hard to believe that she's thinking about trying to run when she could be going evac. at a moment notice! |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Good morning all! You know, I started to write that I am so shocked and surprised by you all, but I'm really not. I haven't been a member of BT for very long, but in the short time I have been here, I have seen so much support in so many different ways, I am not suprised by the outpouring of support from my own group. It sounds so lame to say "thank you" but I truly mean it. I have no idea what the next few days holds for us as far as my getting out to run, but I tell ya I am pacing the house and chomping at the bit to get moving - so very unlike the old me! I definately want to try to get to the fitness center by my house, but don't know what I'll find. They're still telling all Marines and civilians to stay home, so that probably means the fitness center isn't even open. The ash is still quite large here. My youngest pup thinks it's bugs and tries to catch it when she's out going potty. Red itchy eyes and sneezing in abundance. Husband's new Cervelo was delivered on Tuesday (boy was that a surprise) and he's spent all of his free time out in the garage putting it together and stroking it. I think I'm feeling a bit put out by the neglect. LOL It is pretty though. I caught him going outside to ride it up and down the street yesterday in workboots and bluejeans and a big old grin on his face. |

Gail, You just got a penalty poit for smack talking YOURSELF. We need the team cheerleader to rally the troops to finish the stated goals (and donated miles too) |

I thought your offer to take all 12 of Terri's remaining miles for the team was awesome!! So, not only are you our #1 cheerleader, you're also a #1 team player for jumping in and volunteering to take her miles for the team. |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Okay folks - I am looking through people's logs and it looks as though we have a couple of things standing in our way: 1. More people than we thought are affected by the fires - I've seen a few log entries starting with "too ashy/sooty outside". That's unfortunate 2. A few people are still fairly low on their mileage. Let's try to finish strong, folks. If you walk, that counts as long as it goes into the "run" icon. Am I gonna have to sic Judi on you all?? Let's try to finish strong, people!!!! I have a little less than 10 miles to go, since I added 3 more to make up for Terri's. I am going to aim for 6 miles either tomorrow or Sunday depending on the weather, and will plan Monday-Wednesday accordingly to finish up. Edited by wurkit_gurl 2007-10-26 8:47 AM |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread It's back to normal working hours for military and civilians today, so I'm hoping to get to the fitness center tonight and tomorrow morning. There's a wonderfully thick marine layer from my house into San Diego. Thank goodness! It will tamp down the ash in the air and bring in much needed moisture. I cannot believe how glad I was to see it this morning |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Husband ran on the beach by where he works this afternoon and said the air quality was good there. He's in a secured area so he's going to take me down there this afternoon (and this weekend) so I can run on the beach. He also purchased me a new HRM which arrived last night and I can't wait to play with it. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Terri, So glad to hear it's getting better for you... It's POURING out, my hope is for a long run tomorrow--but only i it slows to a drizzle. I love running in a light rain but can't stand the downpours. If the rain stays heavy I'll be headed to the gym for a treadmill run tomorrow and get the last of it on Mon or Tues |

Hooray! Which one did he get you? I had scored a Polar S150 for half off, but it's GINORMOUS so I think I am going to return it and get the Polar F6 (or maybe F4? One of those) instead. Where are the rest of our teammates? A lot of people haven't run much this week Plus, I'm bored at work and want to leave now. |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I'm here! It's been a crazy busy week for me, but things are settling down finally. Like Terri, I was so happy when I opened my door this morning and saw the fog from the marine layer. I've gotten so used to the smoke this week that it took me a minute to realize that it was fog and not smoke. The temps have dropped 20-25ºF and the humidity has gone from single digits up to 40-65% levels depending upon the area. This should, hopefully, really help the firefighters get a better handle on containing the fires. I've been a real slacker this week with my walking/running. I did get out today at lunch and walked with a friend here at the office. We walked 2 miles, so that means I've met my goal for the challenge. |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Since nobody needs my miles, I am keeping them for myself, which means I also hit 100% of my monthly goal this morning with a 13-mile run through the foothills, which is also my longest run to date. I have two more runs this month (~10 miles) to finish it off. Yay me!
