Morning Wolvies! I had a kick 5 miles last night. It was wicked windy but otherwise a beautiful evening.

Scout, better up my goal to 90. I'm going to blow through 80 by Thursday.

It is done.

I think the other teams are sandbagging...

I have no doubt that all of us can complete our goals.

I think that happens a lot. I knew my goal was going to be a stretch but that was good. Making easy goals is lame.

I see sandbagging mentioned from a number of posts.  And it appears that someone thinks my goal was lame.  Let me lay some truth out there:

1). I put in a 6 hour training day with some fellow Tri-Donkais back in August, and landed up injuring the IT Band along the left knee.  Every time that I tried to at least jog, a sharp pain would occur.  To top it off, I already have a bad right knee.  There's a huge bone protrusion (looking at the x-ray, it looks like someone took a hoe and wacked the bone causing the bone to protrude out) which appears below the right knee which resulted in Osgood-Schlatter that I had since I was in Jr. High - almost 30 years ago.  It never was corrected.
2). Continued to train with injuries and did IM Moo back on Sept. 9, 2007.  Completed it.
3). Took almost 10 days for swelling around left leg to disappear due to trauma of IM and possible IT Band issue.
4). It took almost 30 days before I felt like I could even accomplish running due to left leg  and recovery from IM Moo.  Decided that I would still do the challenge thinking that with 2 p*ss-poor knees and an IT Band issue thrown in to boot, I think I might be able to accomplish 50 miles.  Sounds reasonable.
5). During the time, my left knee and IT Band has still plagued me, but not over-extensively, so I continued on anyways.  I made it known in my blogs when I was having some issues, but kept going for my team since I promised I would do it.
6). Let me add that I haven't even mentioned that I have a lower lumbar problem that I'm getting looked at.

I haven't whined or quit, kept working out with injuries (really stupid of me) and sucked it up!  Doing this challenge was very trying for the first 2-1/2 weeks with my issues.  Things started feeling much better in the last week.  I'm not looking for any kudos or "atta-boys" from anyone.

Now, all I care about is that all the other teams meet their goals, too.

I believe that everyone CAN and WILL do it!

Here's my response:

You came onto another team's thread, and talked some smack.  So we talked some smack back, within our own thread.

I applaud everyone's accomplishments, and I would hope that no one does any of this challenge to the point of injury.  We all do what we should, within our current abilities.

I understand your need to reply to some of the statements, but also be aware that few of the posts were specifically targeted at you directly, and were more about the teams in general.  In my opinion (though it may be colored), none of the comments here were overtly mean or nasty.

Keep in mind this is all smack and good fun!

I never questioned your training or your abilities.  I was just highlighting the fact that to complete a challenge 8 days before the actual end day may seem like the bar was set a little low.

I, too, reached my goal sooner than expected.  In my case I only told one person... our team leader when I advised him to up my goal for the month.

Happy Training!

Back in town today after evacuating on Monday. Did not do my scheduled runs on Monday or Tuesday bit I am a bit ahead of schedule so no worries.

Gonna try to get in a run at the Gym today. (Air is still full of smoke and ash so running outside is no good)

Cheers

Wah.  You're not the only one who was injured.  I'm coming off injury, too.  That doesn't mean I went to the high end of what my PT allowed and pushed myself to run as much as I could.  I've got to keep working to make it to my goal.  If you made it already, raise your goal! There's still a week left in the month.

And if you can't take people saying things like "an easy goal is lame", don't do challenges.  Easy goals are lame and they aren't challenging.  Maybe your goal wasn't easy.  If that's the case, it doesn't fall under the easy goals are lame statement, now does it?

Goofy?! You call that a joke? That's lame. Like all of your attempts to win the running challenge!! Stop running now because team Black Magic is going to win. You might as well give up. You don't need to stop running entirely, just realize that you're going to LOSE!

I forgot to mention that I killed the dark master using my light sword. She didn't put up much of a fight when faced with my overwhelming odor...er...power! I was actually disaapointed by her lack of fight. It was kind of depressing. She just kinda shriveled up with a horrifying scream and disappeared into the ether.

Anyhow - to make a long story short, I AM THE NEW DARK MASTER AND ALL WILL BOW DOWN BEFORE ME AND OBEY!!!
