I just looked at my work email in box (we can access over the web) and saw that a guy I used to work with briefly in MS who went to our FL office has now been picked to be the Assistant Division Administrator in KS. I took a step back to come here... ugh. If you're willing to move around, you can move up, but it also helps to be an Engineer... much tougher to move up if you DON'T have an engineering degree. My career has been the same so far (yeah I know 6 years but it counts damn it!) in that you have to move around to get ahead... very hard to progress staying in the one location for a long period of time... |

My roommate brought me chips and salsa from El Tarasco. MMMMMMM!! and you're not sharing???? hrmpfh - LOL I'm terribly sorry. How rude. Actually the ones I've got are even better--they don't even break the tortillas into chips, they just fry 'em and you get these yummy crunchy circles that you break bits off ... and the salsa is all fresh, home made .... MMMMM!

An ER nurse has autonomy to say this pt needs xyz and I'm gonna do it then ask (or ask if I must for what ever doesn't fall in the realm of protocol orders) Teaching just clinical days requires a BSN, classroom an MSN, I have an Assoc. Degree only. Since DH is working on his MSN and the girls wil soon be in highschool I don't forsee returning to college in my future. Plus, it would eat into my training and BT time lastcall2003 - 2007-11-18 11:48 PM zipp1 - 2007-11-18 11:44 PM Oh yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize how burned out I am after 13 yrs in the ER (10 were part time) I NEED to get out of there but a desk job would also have it's challenges cause I just don't sit still for longlastcall2003 - 2007-11-18 11:38 PM zipp1 - 2007-11-18 11:36 PM Yanti! I shouldn't have stayed more than 2 years, even if it meant lateraling to the same position in another state - but I've seen other people move up that I know I'm smarter (and more capable) than - but its all part of playing the game... and I have other goals in life besides to boss other people. Yes the game.... Im learning... Im not sure I want to manage people.. Iwant one of those great idea jobs where I dont actually have to directly manage staff I think Its not just about head smarts or books smarts... its also about learning to temper your personality and deal with individuals in the way that they think they should be treated... Im learning more about this every day... hopefully getting better too! |
