Bripod - 2008-07-16 11:56 AM Hey peeps - this has nothing to do with cycling or the TdF, but I just set a new 1000yd swim PR by SIX SECONDS! 15:11.04 I'm creeping up on that sub-1:30 average!

Congrats...a training achievement is always worth celebrating!

Stage 12 in the bank and still going strong... I will need a longer ride this Saturday and next one to reach my time goal. But it's still well in reach.

KEEP GOING DUDES AND DUDETTES!!!!

Stage 13 in the books.

I am on my way to update the Google spreadsheet. I am late with that.

Let's keep going folks.

So far for me:

Stages: 13 done (69%)
Time: 734 min. (53.%)

On pace to reach 100% for both goals. 2 longer rides tomorrow and on the 26th should help me make sure I reach the time goal.

Hey we're in a tie for 4th! That's a good position to be in. We don't have a target on our backs for being too high and we'll still get taken seriously for not being too low! I have to be honest with you guys and let you know that I haven't been on my bike since SUNDAY! *gasp* It's a horrible treachery, I know, but it will help boost our overall percentage when I finally get caught up at work and get out on the road! I'm hoping for a medium-long [30+ mi] ride today and I'm thinking about setting a distance PR with a 60-miler this weekend, but I'm still not sure if I want to take the plunge or not.

And our spreadsheet is not fully updated with all my rides. Going to correct that in a few minutes.

So our total is more than likely higher!!

Quick question: I have some rides of LAST WEEK not in the spreadsheet. Do I roll back to last week and input on the correct date, or do I include them this week?

Okay,

Just went in the spreadsheet.

Am I right to assume that for Week 2 (as indicated) I write how many stages in total I am up thus far (same with time) and not write down the number of stages for that specific week??

I'm hoping Kat can answer this! If not shoot her a PM.

Perfect sense!

EVERYONE: make sure your totals in Week 2 continue where your week 1 left off.

IE: if you did 3 stages in W1, and 2 in W2: that would mean you write down 5 for W2 (not 2)!!

Important, since Kat will be looking at the Week 2 total for the standing.

C'mon team! I got in another 47 miles today, 62.68% of goal! Get on that spreadsheet and get to updatin'! And quit sleeping in, Pink - I see those logs! Jason, quit taking pictures of yourself and get on that bike! Is Bang182 on vacation? There's nothing in his logs for the last week. Spokes - you just better be enjoying the time with your kids and don't worry about this thread. Also, can somebody pull Law Student out of the library for a couple hours so he can get his rides in? Let's move it, move it, move it!!!

Hey! No sleeping in today!
I actually got lost on my century and ended up riding 109 miles.
So I bet those extra nine miles were subconcious punishment for not going long enough on my workouts this week . . .

Nice going team! I just updated my logs and the spreadsheet. So far I'm at 6 stages, 339 minutes (over the time goal, w00t!) and it's looking like I'll easily fit in the last 4 stages.

Today I rode on the new trainer at the gym--it had a race simulator on it with real-time power output and heart rate displays. You even turned the handlebars to steer over the course and shifted gears. I was pretty impressed. Definitely the best ride I've had on a trainer!

Keep rollin' CDE!

Morning to all!!

Day off today just like the TdF.

Log and spreadsheet updated.

Stages: 15 done (71.5% of goal)
Time: 877 minutes (64.24% of goal)

Big final push starts tomorrow. Will reach 100% for the stages (all 21 of them!) and will need a bit extra saddle time to reach the time goal... But I will do it!!

LET'S GET IT ON!!!

Team,

When I started this challenge I was extremely excited as I saw it as a way to get better with my biking skills. Unfortunately, I have come to learn that there are forces that we have absolutely no control over.

Case in point, my 8yo daughter, who was the picture of health 10 days ago began having seizures that could not be explained. We do not have any family history of seizure activity, which, was a bit more puzzling. After a subsequent week long hospital stay we have found that she has a form of epilepsy that can be controlled with medication, but, was extremely difficult to diagnose. Unfortunately, I have lost over a week of riding and will not be able to continue due to work.

Please accept my apologies and please know that I will be pulling for each and everyone of you! Ride hard and long my fellow Caisse D'Epargne teammates!

Thanks

Wow thanks for the update! The seriousness of this challenge is like humor compared to a situation such as yours. Know that none of us [and I'm speaking for all of us so you guys better agree with me. You too Jason!] is disappointed or upset with you AT ALL. I'm glad they were able to diagnose her even if it was difficult and doubly glad that you will be able to control it with medication. You had a strong run in week 1 and I look forward to seeing you progress as soon as things settle back down!

Best of luck to you.

My motto is family first and foremost. I know pretty much what you are going through. My wife as a chronic disease (lupus) and I have two young daughters. So every day is a challenge. Only way to get through it is to go one day at a time.

Heck, that's why I train at 5:00AM every day.

Keep in touch. I will be sure to drop by your log from time to time.
