I was wondering what happened to you since you're the one who got us all going on this. Congrats on your triathlon - that's great! |

That's hard core!!! Awesome! Holy smokes! I was really slowing down last night, and after two sets of 17 this morning, I'm about ready to drop! Carrie - if you see me dropping and doing any pushups during the Pittsburgh Tri, you have permission to run over me or stomp on me! |

Got 100 out of the way this morning at the gym and will push the earth down another 100 times tonight. I actually got 30 out of the way in one set with the rest day built in! Cannot wait to see how many I can do by eom. Then I will never do another push up again. How about a pullup challenge for next month? Anyone in? You throw a challenge out there and most likely I will try :-) Pull ups are my weekness - I think I'd be able to do about 4. |

We barely scratched the surface of this challenge and you are already throwing another one out there. Boy, I like the way you think. I will be in for that one too!! |

Think the Masochistic Russian program can be extended to pullups? And, if so, how am I going to manage to do them every hour at work? I don't exactly have a pullup bar here... |

So what's the real time supposed to be 200 and 150? Please??? I have a feeling I won't be on BT much next week as my hands will be shaking too much on those days!

Ha ha. I feel the same way. Tomorrow is my 20 minute interval day. Sheesh! it's going to be super tough. |

Ha ha. I feel the same way. Tomorrow is my 20 minute interval day. Sheesh! it's going to be super tough. Tomorrow's my 20 minute day, too. It's going to be insane--more than 1000 pushups! On two consecutive days! Fortunately, my max only went from 35 to 40 after this week. (Or unfortunately--I was kinda expecting to blast out 50-or-so pushups for my test this morning, but I guess a consequence of doing 2100 pushups over a week is that my pushup muscles are too tired to really achieve a good max.) |

How about a pullup challenge for next month? Anyone in? Have the company put one in the break room - you are already dropping and doing pushups during work - why not pull ups! That plan would be easy - since my max is like 4 or 5 wide grip pullups. I wouldn't even have to do a full one on less than 25% hours - too easy!!! Well, with the pushups it's easy to close my office door and do them surreptitiously. It'll be hard to do them subtly if I have to open the door and use the doorjamb. And the doorjamb probably isn't structurally sound enough, so I'll have to figure out how to do them using the door, or something...and that'll look pretty dignified: either I'll have my face smashed against the door, or I'll have to straddle the door and do them awkwardly from the side... But you're right--having a max of six-ish means only one or two pullups per hour! But come on: "I wouldn't even have to do a full one on less than 25% hours"? You know you have to round that stuff UP! |

Ha ha. I feel the same way. Tomorrow is my 20 minute interval day. Sheesh! it's going to be super tough. I was looking to see my max improve significantly as well. I went from 28 to 30; however, I think I could have done more but knowing that I had a hard pushup week ahead of me I convinced myself I was tired already. he he Seriously, though, I'm not sure how I'm going to remember to do them every 20 minutes. I've been trying to find my egg timer but it's nowhere to be found. |

That is how I make sure I don't burn my out of this world healthy chocolate chip cookies because I cannot remember how long 9 minutes is - pretty bad I know! I have timex ironman. How do you set it to go off every 20 minutes? |

Expert 856 Pittsburgh | Subject: RE: Pushup challenge? I would like to say that I am completely sick of pushups! Sticking with the plan and just missed one or two sets yesterday. I like today though because I'm down to 9 every hour - tomorrow's going to suck. So just before I headed down to the locker room I did a set. Went out for a 45 min run, stretched and did another set. I could definitely feel my arms towards the end of the run, so I had to keep shaking them out. All I was thinking at that time was, "I hate those d@mn pushups!" I did stop during my bike ride again yesterday to pop off a set. Edited by willie05 2008-05-08 1:13 PM |
