Sorry for the delay and thanks for stepping up to be captain Tri3.

My goal is for 8 rides during the tour and I've done 2, one of which was in a race yesterday.

Thanks everyone for all the inspires in the past week also.

Newbie Barloworlder blasts the competition -- alone!!! Here at BT, we're doing it together ... watch our wake. Overzealous to the point of impropriety ... and victory.

Subject: RE: Astana Team Thread

Hi - there has been a few requests in the last 24 hours to STOP posting live TDF updates in team threads. This is due to a lot of people wanting to watch the action later in the day WITHOUT knowing the results.

Would enough people be interested in taking the live action related discussions to another thread out of the team threads to avoid this issue? Team leaders can you please let me know?

I must admit Im probably the most guilty of this as I genuinely want teams to know whats happening with their pro counterparts to really get into it... and with me watching it live til 2am then heading straight it bed I get REALLY excited and post results...

But... its more a time difference related head spin. I totally understand having to delay watching the action... I know not everyone can devote their whole life to TDF action for a month!

So my suggestion... is this....

1) No results from the previous nights stage will be posted in any Team thread until the next days stage starts... giving everyone 24 hours to watch the action or at least KNOW what to expect

2) Set up a seperate TDF Challenge - Live Action thread for teams to talk about their pro riders... (if there is enough interest)

3) If teams are happy to have stage updates posted in their Team thread let me know and I will continue - otherwise 24 hour code of silence applies to EVERYONE taking part in the challenge

What do you all think?

This is what I have for everyone so far. Matt I think I might have yours wrong, as you said 2 rides since Saturday. But I'm not sure what you had previously. Please let me know if this needs to be corrected (as of yesterday):

I had another Tdf style ride tonight (well, sorta). I did 1:20 of hill repeats in my ridiculously hilly neighborhood. That was ride #4 for me.

Ok as I mentioned earlier I have set up a thread to discuss the results of your team in the tour... its in the challenge forum and I suggest you use it to talk about the teams successes and make sure everyone else see's it!!

As I suggested earlier there is to be no talking about the previous stage in team threads UNTIL the next stage commences....

Please get in on the action its been very entertaining so far, and remember to take it in the spirit of fun and team spirit it is intended.

Happy Cycling

That's a good idea on the separate thread. We TIVO it every day, so some day we don't watch it till the kids go to bed.

Great job in Week 1 everyone!

3 rides for me this week, bringing my total to 5.  They were all short ones this week, have a long one planned for tomorrow.    I haven't been able to watch much of the tour on tv... when I did watch it I found it hard to follow... and could never tell if the Astana riders were doing well or not.

I did another brick today, to "spin out the legs" from the four hour little brick yesterday, lol.

1:13 easy spin, flat trail and park roads.

Nice work everybody! As for me, 6/10 as of today as well. I've gotten updates from 2 of you so far, so if the other team members can work on sending over their progress I woul appreciate it. We're in the home stretch here kids, so you should be planning out your week so as to be able to hit your committed number of rides. Let's finish out this thing like champs!!

8 of 12 for now.

Had a nice "easy" 3 hour ride Saturday. Supposed to be a recovery ride from a long run on Friday. Then my riding partner says, "hey, lets do the last hour in Z3 and really burn it out." Ouch.

Good one Andy!! Your legs probably felt like mine did. Yesterday was my slowest run in recent human history!

Now....let's go Astana! We need to pick up the pace a bit and beat the smack talkers from some teams that are taking a shellacking in the last few stages. At least we have some guys still standing in the Pyrenees, and the TT win just before it.
