I like this one because it's shows the roots of our Germanic language. (I swear! It really is Germanic... we just have adopted lots and lots of Romantic language usage!!)

I think those Romans may have come up with "fenester" as a term for a hole in the wall before the Germans had walls.

to take a bit of a left turn here....What about slanguage and its definitions? I realize that by feeding the monster I contribute to the decay of our moral fabic, but sometimes it's just so useful!FUBAR, SNAFU, & TARFU all come from the classic "Catch-22", but my favorite has to be "kitchen". It means to "get inside someones head by the use of psychological warfare". When you pass that roadie on his $4500 carbon bike and he gets pissed off, you successfully got up in his "kitchen"!

I heard a politician use this one yesterday: demagoguery. I had to look it up on askOxford.com. It's something along the lines of a political leader who appeals to popular desires and prejudices. BTW, online dictionaries are incredibly frustrating. At least with the heavy paper kind you can guess and flip pages until you find it. He also used "unionimity" but since I can't find it, I'm either spelling it wrong or he made up a word.
