Bcozican - 2008-09-26 4:31 PM A little Footie story - when I was coaching for the Illinois ODP program, Brian McBride was cut from the u-17 team - deemed to slow - guess that coach is regretting that decision....I've followed his career since - he is a good player and even better ambassador for US soccer

That's pretty funny.

Yes he is.  Tough SOB too.  Metal plate in the head and all.

i am embarassed to only be finding this thread now.

Arsenal fan, basically I love never living up to the hype

D.C. United would be the stateside team of choice.

I have played center mid for basically ever, i have a game on sunday, first game back since my Ironman Hiatus, i am very excited.

then I guess Indoor starts in a bout a month. good times good times...
Hull city shouldn't be toooo tough for the gunners tomorrow.. but I guess we shall see.

Hey.  Don't worry.  I'm pumped that the thread has lasted this long.  Stoked to have a bunch of footy fans on the site I can chat with and not bug the ever living hell out of the TAN family.  I drove them nuts last year.

Anyway, don't discount Hull tomorrow.  Look what happened to Liverpool against Stoke City.  25 shots and only one went in, but that was disallowed (still don't know why).

Heh. Celtic.  Only cause I'm Catholic.  Got to see the Fire play them in a friendly last year.  Lots of fun to see them in person.

Oh, and I'm listening to Liverpool beat Everton 2-0!  And Tim Cahill has just been sent off with a straight red in the 77th minute!!!!!!  Silly little Timmy!

Wow, halftime score:

Arsenal: nil Hull City: nil

I'm impressed with Hull. Should be a fun second half.

So the EPL table is shaking out to be quite interesting.

Arsenal loses to Hull.  2 shots in less than 5 minutes?!?!

Liverpool is second to Chelsea on GD alone (14 points each but 9 GD to 5 GD is the difference)

Man City loses.  Again.

ManUre is 11th!!!!  Loving that.

And what the heck is up with Newcastle and Tottenham.  Good lord.  Bottom of the table!  Even Stoke is ahead of them.  Disgraceful.

Shaping up to be quite a season on the Island.

TriMDC - 2008-09-24 7:49 AM Huge football fan. Played as a kid, in college and currently. While I was in England getting my MBA I worked for Arsenal on the business side. This was a great chance to see some amazing games for free. I do not like Arsenal, the stadium happened to be a short ride from my flat so it worked well. I am actually a Tottenham fan, which is crazy because Arsenal and the Tottenham are rivals.

Tottenham, eh?  Oh well, we can't all be perfect like me.

Welcome to the thread.  Hope this one will last a while.  Lots to talk about.  You follow any MLS footy?

The funny thing is is when I lived in London Tottenham stunk. Arsenal actually won the league so it was tough to take even though I worked for them.
You know I don't really follow any MLS. I have a few old teammates that play in the MLS, so I keep up with them but that's about it. If there's a game on I will watch it just to watch some soccer.

Nice.

I'm going to try to find an indoor league close to the house.  Hopefully a co-ed one.  Not looking for competition, just exercise and fun.

Haha, TRUE. Oh well. You gotta stick with your team though, even when they stink. You're a Liverpool fan? Gerrard is actually one of my favorite players to watch. El Nino (Torres) was a great acquisition for them and I really like Robbie Keane, but of course that's because of his Hot Spurs days.

Yeah, I'm not too happy with Keane's lack of contribution in the net so far, but if he assits to 10-15+ goals for Torres alone I'll be happy.
