I walked in half way through the '08 Kona a week or so ago, I thought that it was on in Feb. Needless to say I did't get much done besides a lot of drooling. They were on every Sunday for a couple months... All/Most the Ironman Races for 2008 in the US. They were on Versus... You can check the schedule or search Triathlon in the DVR and set them to record. I got to see all the races EXCEPT '08 Kona... DVR was recording something else and I wasn't home to catch it... total bummer. |

Pro 4742 Sarasota FL | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL So does anyone else feel like they're sweating out mashed potatoes and haaaaaam this morning? I hope everyone had a great holiday. I'm back at work this week and the office is deserted so feel free to chat with me. Humbling workout for me this morning. I guess that's what happens when you eat like crap, drink a lot and are generally inactive for several days. Back to the training plan this week though, that race is going to come up fast! |

Master 1209 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL As much as I love the holidays, I'm sort of glad it's all over. I feel like all I've done since last Wednesday is eat nonstop! At this point I really don't think I could eat any more cookies if I tried. After all the eating and seeing that last week's training log is barren, I'm more than ready to get back to regular workouts. I'm going to meet up with my running group this evening for a 4-5 mile run. I must have been good this year bc Santa left new pedals and a Spinervals dvd under my tree!! Nicole...my office is the same today and probably for the remainder of the week. |

I just said to my husband this morning that I'm glad it's all over and we can get back to some kind of a normal life. Which Spinnervals did you get? Santa left me Tough Love. I think he secretly hates me. Hehe. |

Master 1209 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL I've been part of a running club/team for about a year and a half. Although I there's a good number of us who also cycle and do tri's, so I could see this turning into a running/multi-sport club. It's definitely important to find a group you're comfortable with. There are some groups here that are super competitive and are much faster runners than I'll ever be. I really like my group....from day one everyone was really friendly, there's a wide range of pace groups and our group also has a great social aspect. I find it so much easier (and more fun) to train with other people! And I also find that I'm less likely to skip a workout with the group, than if I was working out on my own. A lot of the people I ride with have been riding a lot longer than I have, so I've learned a lot from them. And, at least for me, training with people who are faster and stronger than I am is a huge motivator for me to push myself harder. |

Kelli said pretty much exactly what I was going to. Would you have an opportunity to train with members of the team before formally joining to see if the group is a good fit? |

Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL I haven't joined a tri team but am in a running club and swim team. It really helps having people around for me too, I just haven't had much luck finding someone who bikes at a similar speed at the same times that I do. If you found a group that you think you'll enjoy and it works with your schedule I'd go for it and see how it goes... whshaw3 - 2008-12-29 9:03 AM Anyone been on a Triathlon team? It does occur to me that I might just want to invest in a new saddle. Also got new running shoes and a running skirt. I'm sure the boys are all jealous of that. It's hot pink too.

I got spare tubes, chain cleaner and an aero helmet Santa did not receive his bailout...and since I bought a quite-a-bit of stuff through out the year...I didn't get any new Tri stuff. I did receive a new running shirt and shorts. Bright-bright yellow nike shirt - my wife said that she had a hard time finding me in the marathon last year - won't be a problem this year! Eric - what aero helmet did you get? I am not in a tri or running club yet. I have been considering Houston Racing Triathlon Club, but have not made the commitment yet. Until recently, my schedule (working evenings/weekends) was not condusive to joining a club/team... |

The Terry saddle has always seemed to get the best reviews, but it has a pretty good price tag. Nicole & Kelli - Let me know how the Spinerval workouts are... I have considered getting one or two the dvd's for raining/too cold outside workout days. I wasn't sure if they were worth the expense. Edited by Tri_n_2_b_fast 2008-12-29 10:02 AM |

Pro 4742 Sarasota FL | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Tri_n, I have the hardcore 100 and Hillacious and like them quite a bit. The only complaint I have is that I have a really good memory, so after doing the workouts a few times I get bored with them. The hardcore 100 is probably one of my favorites though as it's three seperate DVD's with several segments to each, so with a warm up tacked on the front, I can abbreviate any of the DVDs or segments to be a workout in and of itself. Coach Troy annoys me a bit, but I always think it's because he's not sweating as much as I am. |

Good idea with the shirt, does your wife move around the course to see you at different places or just near the end?

Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Finding the right saddle is always hard and depends a lot on the person's body type and bike position. I went through 3 different saddles and ended up with the ISM Adamo which I absolutely love. I used to have to wear the cycling shorts with the huge pad and still had issues. Now I wear normal tri shorts with a small/no pad for much longer rides without any issue. For anyone who tries this saddle, you must give it 2-3 rides to adjust to it. Since you are resting your body weight on your sit bones they WILL be sore!
