Expert 1836 Lafayette, CO | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge MandiGayle - 2005-07-06 10:11 AM Well, Clueless in CO, it's okay. You don't have to mask your lack of knowledge with "surprise." We understand, and accept everyone for who they are. We will still like you even if you don't know much about the world (or the US for that matter). uh oh. Uh oh is right MandiGayle - you're on a losing team, and it's too late to have Renee change things. As far as my knowledge of the US and/or the world, I lived across the river from Iowa, so I know ALL about those Ioweejans. I also know that Iowans don't like being called Ioweejans. Just like Texans don't like Texican. Now, I realize that you are probably all excited that another Texan is riding a bike somewhere far way. It's called the Tour de France, because they ride across France! France is in Europe, and I can send you a globe so you can find it. And you'll need to log more than a few... |

I'm actually surprised that an Ioweejan came up with any kind of smack talk...not impressed, just surprised... Well hold that feeling ducky, because it's going to be needed once again when Team Endless Summer kicks you in your Hoss's Ass at the end of this challenge. Tania, would you be a dear and teach MandiGayle a few things about smack talking? It'd make her attempts at insulting me much more intelligible... |

It'd make her attempts at insulting me much more intelligible... MandiGayle does not need any help from me, she can hold her own just fine.....at least she's putting in the smack talk time, unlike your slack smack Team Hose teammates who've left you in our clubhouse all by your lonesome........Now would someone please open the clubhouse door so that damn duck can fly out? I'm a vegetarian or I'd suggest we surround him and make Chinese food. P.S You can call me an Ioweegan if you like, but it's a wasted shot. I'm an import, so it has zero effect on me. |

You are right! It is in Europe - good job! I can send you a post card from there with a few more facts to add to your repetoire of knowledge, when I go in 3 days, or from any of the 4 countries, and 2 continents I'll be visiting. I don't really need a globe when I can just travel across the real one. Maybe instead of looking up little facts to tell me, you should be trying to catch-up to Endless Summer. We're kicking some hoss-@$$ right now.As far as my knowledge of the US and/or the world, I lived across the river from Iowa, so I know ALL about those Ioweejans. Master 1315 Shreveport, LA | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge How does the challenge work? Unless this is way off base, I will donate $5 for every area that I don't meet my pledge in plus an extra $5 if I don't meet all three. |

Expert 1836 Lafayette, CO | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge kepola - 2005-07-06 10:57 AM Don't feed the ducks! Nice Pic - I'd be willing to let you have 5 bike miles just for that. Unfortunately, Mandi's attempts at ruffling my feathers already have your team in the hole about 25 miles. Tania - I'm not going to quack at you anymore - you have enough problems living in Iowa, especially since you're a non-native Ioweejan... Mandi - Yes, you're giving up your training for a worthy cause. However, I was doing globe-trotting while you were riding your bike with training wheels on. And I know far more about the world, than I'll ever be able to share with you. Send a postcard if you like, I'll log it for you, since it appears that's all you'll be able to log this month. |

I think if you don't meet your goal overall or you team doesn't meet the goal, you pay the pledge. so it's just one maximum amount you are willing to pay. |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Sorry I've been out of pocket, folks. Oral surgery, yada, yada, yada, but it's done and I rode for 2 hours this morning and swam for 1. Looks like things have been busy while I was off-line. First things first, welcome to Endless Summer, soopergirl! Second, it looks like we are just waiting for Vapor Trail's goal and pledge and a few other pledges and we'll be all set. Now on to a distasteful announcement. I'm going to have to insist that you keep your shoes on when visiting this thread. We have duck droppings all over the place and it will take me some time to get it all sorted out. I suppose it could be worse; thank goodness we don't swim with the tiny beak 'cuz you know he pees in the pool, too. |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge lynda - 2005-07-06 2:31 PM Oh, and don't forget to let us know about the races you have this month... My biggie for the month, as I'm sure everyone knows because I have mentioned it ad nauseam on this site, is RAGBRAI. This is an acronym for the (Des Moines) Register's Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. This is where 10,000 of my closest friends and I take a somewhat staggered route 500 miles from west to east across the state of Iowa in 7 days (the state is actually something like 275 miles straight across, but that would go too fast and not leave nearly enough time for beer drinking). Started in 1971 by two Iowa freaks who had way too much time on their hands, and the power of running a newpaper read by Iowans who have nothing better to read about. God love 'em. So every year all these tiny towns in Iowa bid to have the route pass through their town because A) it makes them more money in one night than they see for the rest of the year and B) because they can't think of any other legitimate reason to have a naked beer slide in town. I did two day's of this ride last year because it was passing through my town and I thought that was a great way to check it out. Of course, I was totally hooked and started planning immediately to do the whole week this year. It's not a race, it's just for fun, and by far the best reason in the state to RIDE LOTS! |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Thanks for the explanation of RAGBRAI, Tania. That sounds like a lot of fun, and quite an undertaking! Okay, with respect to the maxtrix we owe Renee, we just have a few more holes to fill. We're waiting on Vapor's goals and charity pledge amount as well as pledge amounts for mnetwon, CinkyK, and Tania. And looking at my sig line, we are a busy bunch this July. Hoff has a couple of running races this month, and when I get the dates I'll update our list below. Until then, I'm struck by all we'll do this month: two first tris, a 500 mile road trip, and a HIM. Wow. I'm not even worried about making our goals--that is a given. I'm struck instead by all we'll accomplish. This will be huge fun to watch it all play out. Hoss? Hell, that other team doesn't even know the definition. |

Master 1315 Shreveport, LA | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge How do we decide which charity gets the money? Is it a "each team picks their own charity"? Or is the winners of the challenge get to chose? If we pick, what charity are we going to support? I know that Lynda and I are doing Tour de Goodwill in August and can set up a donations page when we register so that others can donate to Goodwill. http://www.nlagoodwill.org/tourdegoodwill/ http://www.active.com/donations/campaign_public.cfm?key=tourdegoodw... Is anyone else raising any money in August or have a good cause? Edited by mnewton 2005-07-06 4:28 PM |
