If so, why are we feeding her? Hmm, she's a paying member ( you're not), uses her logs (you don't), joined BT one month after you, and has four times the posts you do. How exactly is she a troll? Her posts are a little provocative and (or maybe because) they're a lot naive, but don't fit the "standard" model of trolldom.Edited by the bear 2010-12-31 1:14 PM |

I may not pay for a premium membership (I have no need for one), or use this site for my logs (I've no need to share my logs with anyone but myself), and while I may not of been here for long, I at least know to stop and listen to the advice that's given to me....especially when it's stressed over and over and over again. |

Certainly not if she is going to pay for the privilege. BTW many of us pay for the premium membership not because we "need one" but because it helps contribute to the upkeep of this awesome site. the bear - 2010-12-31 1:08 PM jackson61802 - 2010-12-31 11:12 AMI thought it was determined in her last thread that GatorDeb is a troll? Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, I guess the answer to my question is, you DON'T train for an Ironman, you train for whatever comes up next. So I'll train for an Oly. I have a 12 week 3/3/3 RPE and the Oly is 15 weeks out so I'll be doing my own 3X3X3 for the first three weeks and then the Oly. I'll be doing weight training also. I keep telling myself that skipping the gym classes (TurboKick, Zumba) will help because on some level every exercise taxes the system, so that will be additional resources to S/B/R. Any truth to that? |

Any truth to that? Yes. If you want to climb Everest, you go climbing. If you want to do a triathlon, you s/b/r. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() And I love my gym classes (it's how I lost 80 lbs) so dropping them is being hard on me, but I keep telling myself that the jumping around in TKB and Zumba places stress on the legs and feet and are detrimental to my triathlon training. And then when I think about it, all those classes do are burn calories (and well build an hour of cardio). I've been doing them since September of last year and it's the same thing over and over and over again (but it's fun for me) but there's no progression per se. But I'm going to miss them ![]() |

![]() | ![]() Do you not want to give them up cause they are fun or cause that is how you lost the weight? I can understand either way, but, tri training should be fun, otherwise why do it? If it is for the weight loss if you follow the plan and continue to watch what you eat that won't be an issue. Tri training will keep your weight off. Maybe find a tri club around so you can get the group thing going still. If no tri clubs are near you a cycling club will be awesome for your biking. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just enjoy them, they're fun. They're not "working out." But I found out two things: 1. Whatever you do a lot gets better, ****at the expense of everything else**** If you hike a lot, you'll be good hiking but maybe not so much swimming. Run and you'll be good running but it won't help your biking that much. And, much more importantly, once you stop doing it, you lose conditioning. So you can't really maximize everything at once, you have to pick what you want at that moment and go for that. And... 2. Gym group classes won't make you athletic. There's a huge difference between being thin and being athletic, and Zumba doesn't make you athletic. SBR does, though. I want to give it an honest go and since it's 1/1/11, start of a new decade even, it's a good first day ![]() ![]() |
