mjmcw - 2011-08-30 11:02 PM Participant list updated with assigned bib #s. Only 618 registrants. I'm surprised by that as there's typically well over 1k for these events.

The 70.3 World Championship is the week before in Vegas, so that's probaby taking a few hundred participants away.  Maybe talk of heat and hills from last year is shying some away.

have a great weekend of training!

I think a BT get together would be awesome!  I like to know the people passing me!

Weare staying at he Thousand HIlls Resort. We got a two bedroom condo for $135 a night! Very nice place, and not that far from the venue.

Any thoughts on where I should stay?  Just need a cheap place that is close for Sat night?

Also, anyone willing to pick me up a medium tri top at the expo?  I don't get into town until after noon on Saturday.  I'm sure they will be gone by then.  I can paypal in advance.

This will be my first HIM and I'm super excited. Training hasn't been what I'd like due to work travel (always something right), but I still think it's going to be a great time.

Decided to cancel my hotel and camp for $50.  The extra $150 will be great for gas and food.  Pretty sure I'm not getting any prize money.  Hope to NOT get my name in the paper for keeling over before the finish.  No DNFs.

Looking forward to a great race and adventure/experience to remember!

One thing of note on the number of participants. I signed up for the Kansas and Branson special price combination and my name is not on the participant list. I contact Ironman about this and they told me the people who signed up for the combo will have their number assigned at check-in, so the list should be bigger than it actually shows. How much, I don't know.

Any thoughts on water temp? We've had pretty cool overnight temps here in NW Ark, and I'm sure Branson has been almost identical. I bet the water has to be cooling off a bit.

I have a quick rookie question. Do they let you back into transition the morning of the race? I'm assuming you can't get back into T2 in the morning since it's not near the race start, but do you get back into T1 to double-check your gear / lay things out, or does everything have to be done Saturday?

Last year you were able to go into T1 the morning of the race to check tires, setup T1 how you wanted it. Only the athletes were allowed in though. They give you a wristband to wear and that allows you into the transition area. It does not have to be done on Sat.

On Sat, I only leave my bike in T1. Sunday morning I will bring evrything else with me and then set it up.

Has anyone heard anything about the water temp? I figure it to be wetsuit legal since it has been in the 50's around the past few days.

You can also get into T2 the morning of. A lot of people stay near the finish and can drop off T2 gear before boarding the bus to go to the start. I got this from last year's athlete guide. I just assume it will be the same this year.

That is what i did last year.  Went to T2 first and set up.  Left our car there then took the shuttle back to T1 and set up.  It really is very easy to get around, more then enough shuttle buses.

Any Idea when the 2011 Athlete Guide will be posted? The web site says 2-3 weeks prior to race day....I believe it is time.

That's a good question. I'm surprised it's not out yet but I recall Kansas' guide wasn't out until the week before. I would think it would be the next day or two. It's a bit irritating.

This is from Facebook from the local running store.  May be a good way for some of your family members to pass the time!!

Once in a lifetime opportunity! race the Branson Sprint Triathlon for FREE. no strings attached. we need the athletes!

**register at http://www.active.com/triathlon/branson-mo/branson-sprint-triathlon-2011-ce206

**use code SPRINTBRANSONCOMP at checkout to get free entry. cannot be applied retroactively. you will pay a $3.25 active.com fee and may need to pay a $10 usat fee at check-in. we're not sure - still one heck of a deal though.

Only one week left. Hope it will be wetsuit legal. I've looked for water temps but have not found any. At what point will they let us know?
