I get my nutrition in liquid form, 2 bottles and one at one of the exchanges (might go with a double mixture in the aero bottle and water on the down tube, not sure yet). I'll have Gu taped to the top tube (typically 2-3) and eat one every 45 min or so. I found for a 1/2 i don't need solids, ymmv. |

It's a long lonely course when you're at the end. My last 70.3 they were actually pulling up water stations on my second run loop. Hope I don't have that problem again this year. |

That will be the longest hour and 14 minutes ever. And I plan to be on the course for a long time!! Hoping they aren't tearing down the course right behind me! I would have liked an earlier wave, but I am just so freaking excited to be doing a HIM. I have no idea how it got so close either!! |

Finish transition set up, get body marked and your chip then lay down on the grassy area near the start. Close your eyes and relax. When you goto athlete check-in get what you need from the expo then getaway. There will be a lot of nervous, scared, negative people around the race site. Misery loves company so stay away. You put in the time. The last thing you will need is to stare at all the super fit people on $8K bikes...the same people you WILL pass later in the day. This is a GREAT course for a HIM. Enjoy the day. Sit back and laugh at the folks who are "training like a MFer" the day or two before. Yeah they will be there...and you will pass them. Best of luck.

I am actually originally from Jupiter, and lived in Stuart for a few years (when I was in elementary school). Family and many friends live down and that area. Thought it was a 'small' world and figured I'd add my pointless commentary. Back on subject, I am heat 4 (7:44a), bib 317. Excited to get up to Augusta. I am more nervous about getting to sleep the few days before, I am already super anxious about the race...anxious in a good way. |

Laying down in the grass and relaxing sounds like a great idea!! I hate being around groups of people who are nervous and talking about it. I try to avoid that as much as possible! Thanks for the pep talk!!

Then some ups and downs then the last stretch is all down hill. Anyone who has done this race, is this what you remembered?

Some choices are: Pizza Joint - nice outdoor eating area Mellow Mushroom Boll Weevil - fantastic desserts and right next to the Marriot Beamies - Seafood Nacho Mamas - excellent Tex Mex Blue Sky Kitchen - Really good Cuban sandwiches Bees Knees - Tapas Rooster's Beak - very unique tacos, and a fantastic chef that creates new menu items every night. Soy Noodle House - Korean/Vietnamese dishes Frog Hollow - Upscale dining on Broad Street Luigis - A bit further down Broad but has good Greek/Italian 1102 - casual dining Cotton Patch - Casual Dining Augustinos - Italian food in the Marriot Casa Blanca and New Moon both do breakfast and lunch. New Moon has the best coffee in town.

Once you make the turn away from SRS there is a long low grade climb. Back on the two lane roads there are a few good downhills with turns at the bottom. As long as it is not wet like last year a good bit of speed can be carried through this area. There is one short steep climb. The ride back into town is a net downhill but again it appears more flat overall than a clear downhill. It is all in your mind on the way out and coming back in. |

The rest of the course is moderately hilly with some good downhills as well. The last 8-10 miles can be very fast as it is rolling hills but the elevation definitely drops. It is a great course as it has a little of everything on the bike. Good luck! |

Same thing happened last year. I really wish they would stop putting women last as a default. |
