Ink: Picasso-looking frog (multi color) on the front of my left thigh and a solid black tribal shark on my right chest.

Piercings: At my most hole-ie I had 4 rings in my left ear lobe, 2 in the cartilage at the top of my left ear, 2 in my right ear lobe, 1 in the cartilage at the top of my right ear, 1 in my right eye brow, 1 horizontal piercing in my right nipple, 1 horizontal piercing in my left nipple, 1 vertical piercing behind the horizontal one in my left nipple and the top of my navel. I don't think I missed any. Any more, I just wear a captive bead or circular barbell in my left ear lobe if I feel like "dressing up" for a hot date with Wifey.

Dream tat? Both of my lower legs sleeved with some sort of coral reef design. I would also like to have the pinyi characters for desperate & agony at the base of my neck, but that will have to wait until I retire

Probably will never get an Mdot inked, but if I ever do go 140.6, I'll probably do something with the Chinese numbers for 140.6 and the three trigrams for water, wind and earth.

Gotta be careful with kanji. It almost never means what you think it means...

"hole-y" moley Frank, did ya ever need a weight belt for diving?

Yeah, but you should have seen all of the cool "gross-out" tricks I could do with those rings and a handful of 2 pound clip weights

Yeah, that's the main reason I haven't done it yet. I haven't found a tattoo artist around here that I've had enough faith that they knew what they were doing in order to mark me with something that they can't read. Shoot, around here, some of them can't even read English... In the end, I'll probably end up getting it done in I-Ching tri-grams.

I have Kokopelli on my lower back. I really like it, but when I got it I thought Kokopelli was a Native American god of light and happiness, since then I've been told he's the god of fertility, music and (wine?) festivals...in other words, debauchery...well, okay, I can handle that...

It looks like this, but without the blue...

Have 5 ear piercings...

And can I say that 1) getting your pet's paw print tattooed is so sweet, and what a great idea. and 2) I think guys with pierced nipples, especially with a little hoop, are so, so hot!

I have a gecko on my left breast and a feather on my right shoulder. Ultimately I will also have a knotwork dragon that I designed on my right thigh. My only regret with my feather, which I got at age 17, is that I didn't put it somewhere that I can see it all the time.

I had my tongue pierced because it was the only place that would heal quickly. I loved it. My GF hated it. It got a tiny little irritation one day after 3 years of having it, and 8 hours later it was sealed up to the point I couldn't get the barbell back through. *sigh*

I also have the coolest scars ever on my right ankle -- four very long parallel marks on the outside, three shorter ones on the inside, and a few that will probably fade over time on my calf. These came from falling whilst clipped in on my road bike -- I have a triple chainring but my chain was in the middle, leaving the big ring exposed. Those things are VERY SHARP! But the look and placement of the scars, even though completely accidental, is very cool.

Celtic knotwork highlighting my strongest feature (spine).  Here's the "unobscured by clothing" version:  http://members.cox.net/strikeracing/elainetattoo.jpg  But that was before I started tri training.  I have a lot more muscles now.

I've always wanted a tattoo, but could never think of one that meant enough to me. I think an Ironman tattoo would be good, once I've earned it... at Kona!

BTW, that is a VERY cool tat Elaine!

No tatts or piercings.  Thought about getting an M-dot if I ever finish an Ironman (years in the future).

Do get some attention from my 7" heart surgery scar and the two horizontal chest drain tube scars just below.  When people ask, I'll occasionally joke that I got them in a knife fight...sometimes they believe me.

Well if you got the lower case sigma, you could be the standard deviation. Hmmm...

Yeah, Elaine's tat rocks. As much as I would love to have a big tat of some form on my back or chest - with my luck, the minute it had finished healing, I'd have to have some sort of surgery that would require them to cut it... And I know that something wouldn't get stitched back up right. Like when you button your shirt and get to one end and have an extra hole or button...

RE: nipple pieircings: I heard that when you do that eventually scar tissue diminishes sensetivity? Any truth to that anyone know? I always wanted one till I heard that, just not willing to diminish any of that good stuff!

Not sure what "the truth" is, but that hasn't been my experience. Ugly story first... My first nipple piercing was "partially" removed in a mosh pit... It took about a year for it to heal enough to have it repierced. And then the person that did the second (third professional, I did the first one myself) piercing didn't put it exactly where I wanted it... Again, take it out and let heal for another year. Then, I found my favorite piercer in the world and had him do both. And then I had him add another hole vertically behind the first one. So... all that being typed (and experienced), I can't say that I've experienced any loss of sensitivity. If anything I found that my sensitivity was greater when I had them in. I wore my piercings for about 8 years all together and haven't had them in for a couple of years (work image).

My recommendation would be to go to a good, responsible piercer and have a chat with them.
