Know what's really funny?

These die-hard, suckitup, takenoprisoner triathletes are gonna get swum over by a whiner like me.

Ohhhhhh that makes me chuckle.

Awesome Betsy! I'm set for about 1500m this week...you did more than that in a night! LOL Gee I'm really glad I'm the captain of this team so I can actually feel like I'm doing something since I'm not the swimmer y'all are. I can't wait til I'm able to swim that much! But I know I will with the inspiration I've gotten from all of you! GO FORCE!!!

HEY RENEE...Did you read my report?

I put in 1500 yards last night - 34% of goal accomplished.

Jeff, yes, I read your Race Report and commented on it. Great job on your time! Oh, and DON'T run on an injured leg. Ask Sue7013 about running on an injured leg.

Ok, my Friends in Force, we're getting SPANKED by the Canucks. They are at 17% of goal, we're at 12%. We should be at 13% (13% into the month as of 12/4)  and our average is skewed higher because I was at 22% (and I'm the biggest whiner/weiney on the team).

LET'S SWIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy laps.

May be true, but what matters is 100% of goal when 100% of the month passes. Partial goals at partial time are just a guide!!!

Now, that being said...LET'S KICK SOME BUTT!!!!!!!!

Actually, as of W/E 12/4, Florida and Utah were even at 12%.

We don't win unless we all make our goal. Just focus on your specific training and we'll win. Easy peasy.

Here are the preliminary standings:

  1. Team Canada - 38%
  2. Team Utah - 36%
  3. Texas Yeehaws - 24%
  4. Florida Force - 22%
  5. New England Pootriots and  Carolina Curmudgeons - tied with 20%

By the Sun God Ra, we are not going to lose to Canadians!!!! We have a weather advantage, water advantage, moxy advantage!!!!

Losing to Canada would be like Tampa winning a hockey championship. It's just WRONG, alternate universe stuff! Nor are we going to lose to people from the polygamy state or from Bushland.

Ok, on a less shrill note... if everyone had met 13% of monthly goal, our total score would have been 56% and we would be in the lead. That's how important it is to stay on top of your goal. You don't have to exceed it, just meet it.

Sorry, Captain Jeff, I know this is your domain but with my Challenge expertise (and your newbieness) I thought I should offer some shrill advice.

Let's show the northerners how it's done!

HEHEHE...OK the newbie's a bit confused. Lemme see...ok so my goal is 8000m. I swam 930m between Dec. 1-4 so that's 11.6%. I understand that. But as far as my goal per day goes, I was at 100% of my goal. My Dec. 1-4 goal was 930m, and I swam 930m. This week I have slotted myself for 1460, and then the next week 2000 and so on. I have myself slotted to swim all the way up to 12/30.

So now I'm all confused. So should I be going for 25% of my goal per week if there are 4 weeks? I guess my real question is, is it good to be ahead of your goal so you don't have to have a lot to do at the end? Say for instance I do 7800 of my 8000 by 12/18. Would that mean that all I have to do in the last two weeks is 200m?

Haha, yes...you're right, I'm a total newbie at this so I'm all befuddled. ACK!!! I do calculus and trig for a living but this is confusing me. What's wrong with my brain?!?!?! LOL

Jeff, no, you're not confused. The tracking system is somewhat arbitrary and the scoring system is a new one. You don't even know how the old one worked!

I used 13% as the "where you should be" standard because we were 4 days into a 31 day month (13%). That presumes that everyone's training distances are evenly distributed throughout the month and I'm sure they are not.

My planned swim distances escalate after mid-month (going from planned 1000 yds to 1500 yds) so this would immediately skew the perception of how I'm doing on my training. Some people might have goals they intend to reach before Christmas; this would skew intermediate scoring also.

The 13% is based upon an even distribution of training distances throughout the month; it is used as a guide only. What really matters is where we are by 12/31. However, it does provide us with an idea of how we are doing, in general, at arbitrary points (every Sunday) along the way.

Hope that helps!

Ah, ok...now you're talking like me! Like a big ol' mathnerd!!! Standard distributions and areas under the curve...now you're speaking my language!! LOL OK good, glad to see I don't have it all wrong. Thanks for the clarification on that. I appreciate it.

OK. So Florida is the team to beat? I got another challenge. Beat my last single swim. Ready?

6300 Meters. 4000 in one set.

I've drawn a line in the sand. Anyone dare to step over it?

Nice distance...I can't wait til I'm able to do that.
But if we're talking "I'm cool" here, I can say that 5 months ago I couldn't swim 25meters without stopping. Now I can do 600 and still have energy for more. I'll get there soon...because of my awesome team Florida Force helping me along the way. We may not be the "team to beat" right now (Canada in the lead) but I can say without a doubt that I'm captaining the most inspiratonal team in this contest. My people ROCK!!!! GO FORCE!!!!!

There...how's THAT for a peptalk?
